Really appreciate this review. As a first time reader of the series I can understand all the reasons you loved it and the few gripes you had. I want to tell you about characters and their growth but I won't spoil it! I am about to start a reread myself. Reviews like yours just get me more excited to do to it.

Thank you! I'm definitely keen to continue on because I've heard the character arcs are something to watch out for.

About the girls being in the bg, don't worry, that will change pretty soon (more varied pov chapters going ahead). I think it was a good idea to show pre-Dragon Rand a lot in the first book to get a grasp of who he originally is (essentially a nice, naive and stubborn 19 years old). Which is why i didn't appreciate him being in the bg so much in the show with his whole personality being Egwene...

I'm glad to hear it - it seems like the series just gets so much stronger from the little bit that I've heard. It will be interesting to see how the next season of the show goes, too.

Book 1 TEOTW , is almost entirely introduction, to the World, it's strangeness and to our characters.
All of these characters are incomplete, Jordan leaves himself huge areas to fill in later.
The ending of the book is confusing, mostly because it's all Rands POV and he's confused.
One of Jordan's favorite writing techniques is the Unreliable Narrator, in this book is that's almost everything we get.

I do love that different threads are left hanging for him to come back to! I've heard that characters he mentioned only briefly can come back around again too, so I do appreciate that he left himself enough room to play around with the story.
