      I started medical billing course with AAPC back in 2020 and never finished it. They didn't offer virtual classes during Covid. You are pretty much on your own. I had no one to guide me. If you don't know medical terminology and anatomy you will have a hard time. The customer rep I spoke to told me the course was easy when it isn't. I couldve saved my money which was over $2000.

      What Lina said is true, but if you study on a consistent schedule and utilize YT videos for Terminology/Anatomy to fill gaps, it's definitely doable. I passed on my first attempt after working for 6 months. I would study M-F from 4-8 and then for 4-6 hours on Saturdays. I was VERY busy. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to stick with it.

    I just finished my course thru Ed2Go. Med Term was included in the package, so I took that (all self-paced with an instructor available for help) and books were included in tuition. After that (about 3mos), I moved onto the billing & coding portion. My course included a 1yr AAPC membership and a voucher for your chosen certification. Total cost was around 3.5k. Overall I feel like my program was OK. Hindsight is 20/20 though, if I could go back I'd take a course straight from AAPC.

      @@xxMARIBELxx95 hey! So I liked the self-paced aspect, I actually finished my coding course at 3am because I couldn't sleep. Books arrived fast and my instructors and admins were always quick to answer. As far as coding and insurance, the books were out of date. I would code something according to 2022 specs and then it would be "wrong" due to it being a a 2021 answer key. Also the book they chose for the insurance portion was so incredibly dry and mind-numbing that I skipped reading it. The online learning portion provided enough info and then I use channels like this for supplemental learning. Overall it was a good value and legitimate and I feel educated. I just think the actually course thru AAPC would be more current and less dry.

      @@ryenloch I appreciate your answer so much! I haven’t signed up to the course being offered at my University so I asked about it wanting to know if the course would be new updated material and the lady enrolling confirmed that it would be based of 2022 books not 2023…would that still be a smart decision?

      @ryenloch Рік тому +1

      @@xxMARIBELxx95 Hello! I would honestly wait until the first of the year and try to finish it all in 1yr (it's possible). I ran into the same issue when I got my study guide and it was for the 2022 test, which I would have had to take a month later and I just simply wouldn't be ready. Now I'm here trying to figure out how to afford $500 worth of updated coding books and the 2023 study guide because I finished right when the books updated. I realize the books will always need to be bought, I just think sending someone a 2022 study guide in September when they recommend studying for at least 3mos is kind of crap. Hi everyone, I went to Bryant & Stratton College for Medical Billing and Coding. I am so unhappy and confused. They only go through AHIMA, and I am not trashing AHIMA at all, but I wish they would have prepared us more from the very beginning, letting us know AHIMA is really more focused on inpatient. I am not interested in working inpatient at all. They give you no choice and after you complete the MBC program, and pass a practice CCA exam, they sign you up for a year of membership and pay for one attempt on the CCA exam with AHIMA. I'm really sad. I do not even feel like I got a good education through them and do not feel prepared at all. I spend so much time now debating whether or not to sign up for AAPC certifcation program (like right through them) its sooooooo expensive. I do not know what to do, I would prefer to be certified through AAPC.
