Everyone should really appreciate the fact that none of these devices sound good or "recordable" on their own. Just getting a drum kit to sound good in the track is hard. This would sound like garbage if not for some very good mic placement, mixing, and mastering. This person has immense talent
I was thinking while watching this - Surely each device was Mic'd and their track recorded individually. The video with all of them doing the routine is just for the visual?
@@ubermidget2 he made a video about his process, and if I recall correctly, it was recorded separately to get good mic placement and then synced with a filmed run without the mics for better visuals.

Most of these are using motors that change in speed and direction based on voltage. You can use this to change the frequency of rotation which will create a vibration of the pitch you are trying to emulate.
That possible I guess, but if you factor in the effort of having to make a synchronised video afterwards, i have a feeling its just easier to send the servos a waveform that play the notes he wants?
This is a banger for sure, no question, but can we talk about the fact the googly eyes are staying perfectly attached to two violently vibrating toothbrushes?

Amazing job. I love how you personify the devices you use, give them names and arrange them like a band. I lost it with Bob Floss. Complete with brown afro. I've seen disk drives and printers making music before, but the presentation here makes it all the more entertaining.
As a life long Eurythmics fan i applaud you for this. Very impressed with the toothbrush harmonies! I think even the Eurythmics would love how innovative this sound is. Back in the day they were forerunners of the new synth sounds. Excellent

Same way they get it to produce any sound. You modulate the power to have the device move at the right frequency. Instead of jumping between two notes, you just go up and down around one note quickly. Of course the control circuitry needs to be reasonably precise.
Who really needs a musical instrument when we could use everyday tools? Omg, simply amazing! Never ever thought an ironing device could be used this way!
Actually it's a super similar song; you can hear it if you listen to sweet dreams - seven nation army mashups. The thing is, it would have the same melody, especially since the instrument would stay the same, unlike the actual songs where they use different instruments.
I just love how this all sounds seamlessly together. Who knew you could recycle appliances and create this kind of music. That's one hell of a way to reuse.
Everything is great and well-executed in this video. I might have some bias here because I also could not disassociate that epic Quicksilver scene with this song.

I can't explain why but I love how this sounds every bit as much as the Eurythmics original.

Now that the toaster is Bready Mercury you HAVE to do Bohemian Rhapsody
The only thing that confuses the hell out of me is how you got the printers to use vibrato? That's crazy!
