Warblers are very colorful here in California when they migrate through in winter. Green and black and various other color combinations, just beautiful and the songs are glorious!

Yeah those new world warblers are defenitely a lot more colourfull than our green and brown warblers, although some sylvia warblers can be really pretty

Wren's are adorable. Many different types as well. Not as colorful as most birds, but just as cute!!

Yeah in Europe we have just one species of wren in contrary to the new world.

No maximum of 5 hours between bottles. But he is a very quiet baby in contrary to our daughter who was crying a lot.

If I heard this song later in the year, when Common Reed Warbler already had returned from Africa, I would not care for it ;-) But at this early time of the year one must have checked the bird!

Yeah that is the way to find them. Listen for very earlie reed warblers.

Great vid mate. Birding in the Netherlands looks great. How long would it take you if you had to drive from one side on the country to the other? Some twitches in the UK are uncomfortably long to drive so some birds I don't chase as it becomes quite expensive doing so.

Well offcourse it depends. But from the most northeasterly part to the most southwesterly part takes about 5,5 hours. Although almost nobody lives in those places :p. As I live pretty northeasterly the longest I had to drive was about 5 hours. But just as Britain has a lot of isles we have the waddenisles. Although not nearly as far from the mainland as most of Britain's isles it could make the trip much longer.

I must add that yes, twitching is great here with many good species found in our small country due to the high birder density. But on the other hand the state of nature is bad and declining and we lack large nature reserves and in the reserves we do have there is so much recreation going on. But that all may be not much different than in Britain.

Ik had die van 2016 gelukkig al dus ging wat later en blijkbaar liet de vogel zich toen ietsie beter zien. Er was ook meer een patroon bekend waar we op konden letten.

Gefeliciteerd, Folkert Jan, wat een succes! Het was mij zelf niet gelukt de Zwartkoprietzanger te filmen (2 pogingen), was al blij de vogel te hebben horen zingen en er een gllimp van op te vangen. Misschien dat de toekomstige vierde voor Nederland wel lukt...

Ah jammer. Had al gezien dat je geweest was dus had je kanaal al even in de gaten gehouden voor wat beelden. Ja ben erg blij dat het gelukt is. Heb ik ook beelden voor mijn zeldzaamhedenoverzichten.
