I miss this band . I miss George
i miss everyone. incredible how i just became alone one day...used to be surrounded..now, empty. what a pity
i wrote the lyrics down to my notebook that i keep in my bag everyday, so everytime i argue with my man, i will read them that moment, and it will keep me calm and show him love, instead of shouting and yelling at each other. Being a selfish with your beloved one, is a mistake. open yourselves, forgive and let love win.
give it a few years, youll be beating him with that notebook
"everytime you get mad, you gotta tell it to me
not yell it through me
you dont know what thats doin to me.."
This is beyond gorgeous...
it's missing the sadness, the shades of blue.
agreed..
this is majestic,
and i too prefer the melody here.
this and "listen, the snow is falling"
were always so perfect....
soaring
to all the dudes and dudettes who complain about this cover and how they play it..... i saw them live ... long ago.... and i know what these three can do with their instruments and what sound pictures they can paint in the air.... one of the best concerts i have ever seen... i miss them
Daniel Gerst my friend, you are so right; this band were incredible and helped me so much. Big love to them.
Same as saw them Live in London 1989.Something so deep. Miss them like you said.Hopefully Dean will read these comments and reform the band one day.
@@MrJameswhu a compromise: dean is doing a small tour soon, playing 'on fire'. can't wait
I'm really in love with this Song!
GALAXIE 500!!
GREAT!!!
This song tastes like a sunset
A masterpiece that reinvents (and IMO improves) an already fine song.
I love George, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind me or anyone else saying that this version is the best.
In fact, it is one of the best cover versions of any song I've ever heard. G500 go with a better melody line than George, lifting up the notes that George flattened. I think the song is much, much prettier this way.
Hats off to George and G500. Epic work all round.
Best cover band of all time
I will NEVER understand why this band was not bigger than Nirvana at the time. This album is amazing.
Unfortunately that happened to a lot of the bands on Rough Trade and Shimmy Disc...Yeah some made it like King Missile and Ween. I agree 100% many of these amazing artists like Galaxie, Half Japanese and others did not get the recognition they deserved. And also a lot of this stuff was not really documented very well and I have discussed this with some of the former Shimmy Artists. Good day to you.
+Aaron Michael could you maybe recommend some other artists similar to these guys sounds? i just discovered them the other day, and every song i hear is beautiful. id appreciate it.
If you like Galaxie 500 check out Damon & Naomi, Also Low "Long Division"...There is also Boredoms, John Zorn, Plastic People of the Universe and The Residents.
It’s a pity this group isnt more popular
so beautiful
Amazing.
Perfect!!✨💎✨
Best cover ever!
BEST COVER EVER!!!
Love ❤️
LYRICS (by Songmeanings)
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain?
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity?
Some things take so long
And how do I explain?
But not too many people
Can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Oh isn't it a pity?
Isn't it a pity
Isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain?
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity?
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity?
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity?
What a pity
Awesome
Love you to, George.
Love you to, Galaxie 500.
This sounds a lot like a revolver song, i really like this cover
so, as if it wasn't enough, jojo richman brought this joy of a band into my life a few years ago. of course, i would have heard it somehow, but hearing their cover of "don't let our youth go to waste" was everything at that point in my life.
people, you never like something if you come to it expecting something else.
listen to it on its own terms, like I said in response to that guy before.
right on brother
WHAT A PED EGG!!! 🥚 💥
Muy bueno bro
Aweasome do more of beatles solo etc.
GEORGE HARRISON MY TRUE LOVE.
Hoy los he visto en directo menuda maravilla, me he fumado un piti en con is a piti d fondo, orgasmico

going thru these songs. "i melt with you" movie introduced me to them. i love that movie.
u like "fight club" then go watch this movie.
not too many people can see we're all the same
It has its own style.I covered the tune on my channel @ irishseano
tengo más pena que la rechucha
ni siquiera a mí
bought a dragon
@entangledtunes- Dudes and dudette. Is there actually a way to 'properly' play an instrument? A lot of technicians, to my ears, sound boring and pointless, even if they have chops.
Thumbs up! :) Playing is all about feeling, which is what the music bores among us (like entanglestunes) fail to recognise... Its the classic Sixth Form student band member mistake, LOL
Knowing how to play the chords in a tune is knowing how to properly play an instrument. If a tune has a D minor chord in it and you don't know how to play a D minor chord on guitar, your basic technique is lacking. In this case, the guys in Galaxie 500 either couldn't hear that Isn't It A Pity has a diminished chord in it (which means they lack good ears), or they could hear it but didn't know how to play it, so they simply played a minor chord instead, or (and this is the worst possible scenario, because it implies bad taste) they could hear the diminished chord but decided to substitute a minor chord instead.
+entangledtunes My suspicion is they heard the diminished chord (which is pretty obvious to my ears) and just turned it into a regular I-ii-IV progression because that suits their sound and style more (listen to Galaxie 500 tunes) than the original. Nothing wrong with chord substitutions, and this works perfectly fine for their sound. (There's also an A7 that gets turned into an Am in this version. Note the chord over Harrison's "How we take each other's LOVE" vs the Galaxie 500 cover). A cover, in my opinion, should not be a copy of the original (what's the point?), but a reinterpretation in the covering band's voice. Galaxie 500 harmonies tend to be straightforward two or three-chord affairs, repetitive and droning. That is part of what makes their songs have their vibe and their sound. This is an excellent cover, in my opinion. A George Harrison song, yet distinctly Galaxie 500 in orchestration.
+pulykamell All I can hear in this version is that a great song with colorful, well-chosen progressions was dumbed down.
I respect this but Long Long Long live George Harrison. Simple as that.
Their version is eons better and more sincere sounding than the Harrison original
U should listen to the one with only george and his guitar version. Feel so sincere too
@@calicosky9863 version 2, thats my fav. also the anthology 3 version of my sweet lord.
Try also G500 cover of The Final Day, which is an inspired rewriting of the original song by Young Marble Giants and, in my opinion, a better version.
El segundo acorde en la versión de george le da un toque muy particular, ahora reemplazarlo por un “la menor” común y corriente me parece que no le hace justicia a su genialidad compositiva.
Oh, and the whole alt/indie/punk rock attitude of thinking players who *can* play diminished chords, and even call them by their names, are tedious noodlers who think too much and are ruining rock-n-roll, is such a load of ultra-elitist crap. It's just as or even MORE snobby than the WORST shredder comparing all those underground bands to The Shaggs. It's one of the things that really put me off about my local scene in the 80s. That's why I tricked my band into playing Zep covers at all those grubby punk clubs we played back in the day - just to rub it in their FUCKING FACES.
+Gordon Ranney This is why a lot of rockers who can't play their instruments didn't (and probably still don't) appreciate Keith Emerson. The reason I regard Emerson so highly is not that he had great chops, but that he was a great composer who could use a wide variety of harmony, AND he had a great feel. AND he stuck knives into his organ!
I think it's because the production on George's hasn't aged just too well. The "Wall of Sound" production never really ages well, and All Things Must Pass isn't an exception.
a nadie le importa ni mierda
I respectfully disagree
Imagine covering George fucking Harrison and somehow improving the thing. Utterly ridiculous.
Um, apparently these guys don't know how to play a diminished chord. George loved diminished chords. There's a reason he put one in. This just sounds like a dumbed-down version of the song for dudes who don't know how to properly play their instruments.
+entangledtunes it's a cover. They play the song in which way they want. Isn't that pretty clear?
+hempoki Yes, it's clear that they didn't appreciate a large part of what makes the song so great. Those beautiful, mixed colors George chose have been reduced to primary colors.
+entangledtunes that's not true at all. you shouldn't project like that.
G500 painted with a limited palette. when they covered a song, they did it in their own way.
faithful covers are pointless, anyway. if you listen to this without expecting the original, you might be able to appreciate it on its own terms. your loss if you can't.
Yeah, you can call this version a lot of things - heartfelt, simple, direct, honest, maybe a little naive, like kids learning their axes for the first time and stretching to try to play the music of their heroes - but "majestic" is not one of them.
This version has something you can't put your finger on? Soul. Heartfelt sentiment and yes Majestic. What a pity you don't feel it.
it is majestic, on its own terms. maybe not in your definition, but that's just you.
Gosh, I really, really hate the way they've turned it into a 3 chord dirge. It's so reductive. Awful cover. And I love a bit of drone/shoegaze.
no way is this a dirge, dude. it glows. and it has its own unique, awkward sweetness.
ya, an overwhelming sadness... but makes me remembering some melancholic childhood feelings
I had this album on cassette and this was my favourite song. But I never realised it was a Harrison cover until now when I searched for it on YT!!!!
My favourite song on the album, I mean
Oh, so i also will look for the Original...
Anyway i LOVE ALL from G*500..!..
Short Existence, a pity...

Haha, same! Can't say I was disappointed by the holistic wondrousness of the whole story
