i love how you make videos on the science trends. =) any updates on their GFET device? Is it the technology the antigen testing is using today?

Thank you, Zeny, for your kind comments. The gFET biosensor is still in development, but there are other antigen tests that are in use today. Abbott has developed a fast (15 minute) antigen test that has received emergency use authorization by the FDA. Their test, BinaxNOW™ COVID-19 Ag Card, detects SARS CoV-2 antigens and shows the positive result as a color change in the card. There are several nanotechnology based COVID-19 biosensors in development currently. If you're interested, here is a table summarizing these efforts: www.nature.com/articles/s41587-020-0597-x/tables/1

You say at 4:22 the transistor gives a linear increase in response with concentration. But the graph top right does not show a linear response, the concentration axis is on a logarithmic scale. Closer to a Nernstian response. Can you elaborate?

How can identify COVID from thousands of other virus? It’s not clear for me. Why only virus spoke reacts with the chemical?

Hi Sarrou, the research team raised antibodies against that spike protein. It is the high binding affinity and the selectivity of the antibody that explains why the biosensor reacts with the SARS CoV-2 spike protein and doesn't cross-react with other viruses. There is a link to the original research paper in the description to the video. The paper goes into more detail about how the team created the antibody and isolated it. Thanks for watching!

@@ScienceSketch if I do the test 100 timesaver the same instance the result will be 100 positive or 100 negative?
