Yep, and that's very healthy criticism of a government. Confucianism has greatly benefitted the moral compass of the chinese peoples while maintaining a healthy economy. The chinese government creates housing structures that house 100,000 Chinese within six days if there was a homeless crisis, and reduces the prices of living in said homes so that people can get their lives on track. And when a country has a housing crisis that is your ally, the Chinese don't give aid so they can own African countries outright and change "aid" into "loan" at the last minute. The Chinese actually engage in the development in Africa with trading resources, knowledge, and skills. The Chinese actually engage with African companies and build trade relations with them. The Chinese has been in Africa for 40 years and housed over 700 million Africans in their own territory. Compare that to the near 200 year British, Belgian, Prussian, and French colonialism, and the near 500 year African American Transatlantic slavery, and the 89 year British rule of India. Within the first 40 years of the British rule of India, the British killed just over 100 million peoples due to famine, destroyed cultural heritage cites, rewritten the Hindu faith the sponsor white supremacy, forced the native Dravidians to worship white peoples indoctrinating Indians with the slave bible to replace there "inferior beliefs". For Africans colonialism only served for the deaths of 173 million to 223 Million people and the creation of over 30 extractive colonies for their natural resources. For African Americans, whether North or South. The 12 million people who where slaves trafficked by Europeans experienced constant lynchings, bodies buried in unmarked graves after being whipped to death, forced castrations inside of plantations to prevent the births of black women, hangings which punishable by law, on top of them indoctrinating generations of black people with the very same slave bible they handed over to the west indies to ideologically force blacks into servitude for the whites. And if faith can not accept their greed, than the greed is embedded into their natures. People keep talking about "debt imperialism" or whatever, only time will tell it, but whatever China's agenda is if they have one, they're actually in Africa getting shit done. Every human being should have basic affordable housing with electricity and running water, not to mention the jobs and skills these projects and businesses are providing for the locals. People forget that China's civilization is thousands of years old and invented most of the things we use today before western powers were even in existence. I'm from the US, which has a hate boner for China, and in a lot of ways (especially as far as civil rights go), that hate is justified. But China also has technological innovations that I couldn't imagine ever seeing in the US, at least not for another couple of decades. Chinese people are used to seeing robotic traffic cones while it's something that blows my mind.

Imagine if China's technological advancements in building, construction and infrastructure were offered AND used in the US, Haiti, Dominican Republic and other lesser developed Caribbean and Central American countries!!! That would be an incredible achievement as these countries / places are in desperate need of infrastructure development.

To the reasons of housing crisis mentioned, I would add another one. Often those who decide have no practical idea of those who are in need of housing. Most of them in their entire lives have never experiment what the millions and millions around them are going through. And to make things worst they are often those who have copied the madness of deprivation. Otherwise, they will be desperate to provide practical answers to the problem.
I'm happy China is helping Africa . I still dont understand why the government hasnt done this though. Africa is rich in resources and people . Africans are very intelligent and strong able bodied people. I know the governments should be more responsible, but if they dont help . The people have to help themselves however possible. Don't wait , you have everything you need to make life better.

It's great that houses are being built. Everyone should have a decent place to live.
But assuming that even if China were capable of building a home for everyone, that really doesn't solve anything, unfortunately.
The next step is for these folks to have enough income to maintain their homes properly, not to mention paying for electricity and water just to live on a daily basis. Right now, they don't even if they had a house to live in free and clear.
It needs to be sustainable. The problem is huge.
Not west or east, about who can do the work for development or housing, clean water , waste water treatment, roads, electricity, power, etc.

We need AFRICAN companies doing large scale construction in Africa. We can't keep depending on Chinese. Chinese learned to do fir themselves. We must learn to do the same. We need to produce more engineers and we need to establish larger construction firms. Too much of our money is going to China and other countries. Education and proper planning are key.

No one can survive on their own. You have the wrong mentality. Take the opportunity to learn and partner from others and that is how you will build the continent. Have you ever seen Africa develop at this rate in history? No. You should be happy how fast it is developing and the jobs that are being created. Yet you want to be suspicious. Bad attitude.
you may be called listen up, but did you watch the video? A lot of the workers - including managers and engineers - are clearly black Africans. In Chinese and German tradition, an apprentice works for many years, often 7-13 years, at low pay. In the end he can strike out and open his own business. If you work for years and learn nothing, the fault is not with your boss.
You can see this all the time in any regular Western workplace. The employee who is inquisitive and asks questions and tries out initiatives on his own, learns fast and eventually gets promoted. The dullards who just do the minimum for monthly pay, will never learn, and 20 years later still be doing the same job.
You have to be humble. Learn as much as you can..and when times comes right time to break away on own.

Importing raw materials is unnecessary. This won't be allowed in Nigeria since we have a lot of the biggest cement industries in Africa.
They don’t import raw materials, that is a waste of money. Even here in NZ and Australia, if we can’t get the products made in time/standard we outsource them to other countries including China. A lot of our construction projects here use local cement and local aggregates because they are cheaper than imports. However, even though we have relatively large industries in the production of tiles, pipes/wiring, interior fitting materials, paint etc, they are still predominantly imported due to foreign products be at a higher quality for the same price.

Julius malema! Encourage the South African construction companies to develop housing for countries outside of South Africa. This will encourage other brothers and sisters to seek housing in these places. Thus it will make the connection between neighoring countries stronger.

These projects aren’t free. At least African wealth isn’t looted to enrich the white people’s countries, but is used to pay for these constructions that will benefit the Africans. Compare what the white people have been doing to Africa and now what China is doing. Chinese don’t build them for free, but at least African resources can be exchanged for these buildings instead of being plainly looted and robbed.
