jbsmg I know they won the Big East. That’s not my complaint. My issue is that they won their conference at 8-4 and got the nod solely because they won their conference. Not to discredit winning the conference, but I’m pretty sure the selection committee could’ve found a 10-2 or 10-3 school (like a Michigan state who played in a close conference championship against Wisconsin), or just a more suitable opponent to play Oklahoma rather than an 8-4 school just because of the inconsistent “automatic BCS bids.”

I miss the old days of smaller conferences where every team played each other. I prefer Michigan Ohio state being for the conference and not a division. I miss independents like Penn State- Miami. These conference championships feel like waisted extra games. Let there be co champs and controversies. Football is debated anyway.

Ray Walls The Big East was an AQ conference and the champion was guaranteed a spot in a BCS Bowl. Same reason Wisconsin made the rose bowl at 8-5
