No one told me I could start investing with just one dollar in any stocks. I did not have financially savvy parents. I would see (on the news) that for instance Google was 800 dollars a share, or Pepsi was 400 a share... etc. So I thought I needed that amount. All this time I could have started with 1 buck and go slowly. They never talked about credit. How it is so important. So many things. And he is so right, when emergencies came I had to dip into my stocks and sell. Now gotta start over. Ouch!
@@jty1999 nah, I'm going to be judgemental because a lack of utilizing judgement to assess situations is why people are not being held accountable and responsible for their lives and decision making within them. The least we could do as a young adult on the way to success is remove ourselves from under the wing of our parent's protection. if you personally still home with momma, then do you, but you are not doing yourself a service or your momma a service being a burden beyond childhood in that way if you are to be MAN.

#4 is HUGE. When I enlisted in the military 17 I had one of NCOs drill that very rule in my head...that has been super helpful. He also taught be to spend 33%, put 33% in savings account, and put34% into my retirement. Being young in the military you have few financial responsibilities so that worked for me and paid off eventually.
My son is 16 years old. He's going to be getting his first job this summer. While planning out the money management talk in my head I was debating weather or not it was too early to get him investing in the stock market (safe stocks, index funds of course). But you have solidified that decision for me. I will make sure we watch this video together and start him on a great path to financial success. Thank you so much Brian!

Started working at age 9, selling all occasion cards. Took over my brother's paper route after that. Worked in college as part of my scholarship program. Then got into retail. I really believe everyone should be in retail for a year so that they learn how to handle the good, the bad and the ugly in this world. I'm not rich but I'm better off than many at age 73. Got a credit card and am paying way over the minimum to build my credit back up. Great tips, thx Brian.
Everything you're saying are correct. And I was told my son that, you should save your money and invest it on your first paycheck. He's 24 years old and worked since 2021.
All this information is so valuable especially to those teens that are just watching this. My parents did not allow me to get a job when I was younger and I wish I had one working maybe 15-20 hours a week would be perfect for a teen. This guy is legit in many of his takes.

I thank him for teaching me a strong work ethic, it has really paid off trust me..

Invaluable advice, thank you. My parents were Korean immigrants who did not talk about money, period. Consequently, I made a lot of financial mistakes early on. Thankfully, I have more than recovered and am heading toward a secure retirement. I made sure to educate my three boys (12, 9, 7) about financial topics. They all have bank accounts and stock portfolios. As they get older, we are going to cover credit, crypto, insurance, income tax, investments, retirement, and estate planning. Anyway, I shared this video with my oldest son (12) and he was awfully quiet for a long time. After a few minutes, he said, "I need to get a job now and make some money." I told him that he wasn't legally old enough to work, which ticked him off. However, I was heartened by his ambition. Again, thank you for this video. This material needs to be taught from cradle to grave, in schools, workplaces, and most especially, around the dinner table.
I am now 37 grew up without parents and been poor most of my life. The last few years im earning more than average because i started my own buisness and now finally learning about money. I sent this to my younger brother who is about to head out to college this fall, love your videos man wish I had knowledge about these things when I was a teen, hopefully starting at 26 isn’t too late!
my parents raised my brothers and I homeless, it took 10+ years to learn all this, now I'm almost 40 and wish I knew about all this many years ago. Also, if I took 0.5% of whatever I made over those aimless years and invested it, I'd be retired right now and not working 50 hours a week.
I have my son (21) watch all of your daily videos. You may be the only source of news and financial advice I trust at this point. Thank you for all the work you put in these videos.
lol, starting "working" selling fire works when I was 12.... then a morning and afternoon paper route.... had to go door to door to collect money too, was a PITA. Part time job at 16, kept it for 10 years. Worked the part time with my full time for 2 years . No debt, house & cars paid for. Living comfortably now...
As a self made millionaire at 34 years old, I give this same advice to young people. Just to reiterate, get a credit card, I have 1 amex and 1 visa and you do NOT have to have a balance on them for them to build credit. I personally use my AMEX for everything because the points are the best... but it's always paid in full at the end of every month. Start your retirement account as early as possible too - 401k/roth. Stocks compound over time and as a young person you have no idea how powerful this is. And most importantly, keep learning. Excellent video for young people, well done.
I've been a long time subscriber and always like your videos but this one may very well be the best of them all. I especially like the monologue at the end. Just because you are successful and wealthy doesn't mean you can't be humble and kind
One thing I would add about the job is that if you can, get a job that will teach you a skill you can use the rest of your life. In college I worked in construction and property maintenance and while it won’t necessarily make you richer, I save a ton of money now working on my house myself using skills I learned in my 20’s.
All great points Brian. I would like to add.... getting a part time job in our teens so we can understand the value of a dollar, which would lead to good money management in our adult life. Coming from an Asian family, Mom let me have a part time job at the age of 13. Once I finished high school and went to university, the deal was, no more part time job during the school semesters. All what you have said are great life lessons and they should be taught in school, as well, as at home. Thank you Brian for all you do to the financial community.
Can't wait to teach my kids about building wealth when they get older, I started an UTMA Account for them since they were born and will continue to learn more ideas to set them up for their future.
I started watching your videos when i was 15 years years back in 2020. I have been learning finance & economics ever since. Thank Brian! Me & my friends have learned a lot from your videos.
My personal advice as a 26 year old that got a job as a assistant manager at a fast food place making $45k a year; if you absolutely don't want to go to college, get a job at a fast food place and the second you turn 18, ask for a shift management position, and in a year show interest in being the assistant manager or general manager and move stores if you can. Above all else, learn a trade. If you do want to go to college, but don't know which major, choose business management (super easy and you learn how to ask for promotions, conduct yourself in an interview, personal finances and now you have a degree on your resume) Definitely what I would do if I could go back and take a simple route to be financially stable at a younger age.
Using this exact advice I have saved around 120k in about 5 years. Currently im 36 imagine how much you could have if you started at 18 and enjoyed compounding interest. Max your roth it only takes 125 a week.
Great content, life changing! Reading is not just enough". Take action! Put your found knowledge to use. I read for a long time but action made my life change in no time (generally and mostly financially) That's my two cents on this
I struggle to follow through especially financially. I earn quite enough but hardly have a saving. Rent, bills, expenses take it all. It almost feels like I live paycheck to paycheck
Live below your means, adjust your lifestyle, be frugal in spending don't buy unnecessary stuff, budget your spending and your debt, save, invest it's a better way to invest. Get a financial expert to help you
I learned how to beat the bank at their own game. Instead of putting your cash in your bank account, put it in index fund. I went nuts when I made my first million and it started to double as I started to move my money around. I also invested my money I real estate. Number 1 rule is to live below your means and build up your cash balance as much as you can when you’re stilling living with your parents for free
This is amazing Brian! I love that you are offering this info for our young adults! Much of this we didn't learn until later in life and would have been so helpful to know as young adults! Thank you for putting this info out there for our young adults! Bless you!💜
I experienced working while studying at ages 16-19, and I personally wouldn't recommend it for any teenager, unless absolutely necessary. You don't know your limits at that age, there is a high risk you burn yourself out, resulting your life as a whole suffers (your workplace most likely won't care about your development).
This is an absolutely wonderful video. This will be required viewing for my teens soon. Thank you for putting together a relatable video for a critically important age group.

I am modernizing elevators for a living these days. While doing so, I see a lawyer that works at a law firm in the tower. He has shown up for work in a: JEEP, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, and this week he pulled up in a Lamborghini. These are regular alternating options for this man. Seems like he is doing well. There is also a Jaguar that parks there occasionally. But that seems to be someone else's. Just sharing because it is amazing to have a budget to own all of those vehicles. Just wanted to share that this is a lawyer.

Thank you Brian, I was born in 1985 so our biggest investment learning is through a game called Monopoly. Sometimes you had to take sacrifices and sometimes it could be for the bad or the good. Monopoly is a game, making money is a game, when your dealing with politics they will throw curve balls at you and your suppose to figure a way how to adjust to their stupidity that's only bad thing is about investing but like you said you need to constantly learn about it and the loopholes.

I've been a long time subscriber and always like your videos but this one may very well be the best of them all. I especially like the monologue at the end. Just because you are successful and wealthy doesn't mean you can't be humble and kind
Bless up man, honestly thank you. 22 and have been finding my income streams and growing as an individual the last couple years.
tip 1 : Start Early . Compounding Interest WINS .
You should teach in the k-12 students in America to learn about finances 😊will help this new generation very much, God bless you.
Thank you, B! As a dad, I couldn’t have covered this better with my kids. Thank you!
Happy Monday Brian!!! Have a terrific day!!!💫💫💫💫💫
Thank you Rose! Happy Monday to you too! I hope you have a wonderful week!
One thing I would add about the job is that if you can, get a job that will teach you a skill you can use the rest of your life. In college I worked in construction and property maintenance and while it won’t necessarily make you richer, I save a ton of money now working on my house myself using skills I learned in my 20’s.
You are helping the young and Future generations to come prevent making youtube videos titled "I wish I knew this about money when I was 18" Thank you
All great points Brian.
You should write a curriculum for high school and middle school students. Public and homeschool.
I second this! Our family watches Brian’s channel as part of our homeschool economics studies. It would be awesome to have curriculum for kids!
An online course for teens would be great! Good business for Brian and the kids and parents would have a resource they could refer to as time goes on…
Can't wait to teach my kids about building wealth when they get older, I started an UTMA Account for them since they were born and will continue to learn more ideas to set them up for their future.
Brian, you're the best! Wish I had this when I was a teen but just sent your words of wisdom to my niece and newphew.
I'm getting my granddaughter to watch this. I always give her advice she never listens to me 😞 hopefully she'll listen to u😊
Thank you Debi, I hope this video helps your granddaughter!
Using this exact advice I have saved around 120k in about 5 years. Currently im 36 imagine how much you could have if you started at 18 and enjoyed compounding interest.
Max your roth it only takes 125 a week.
My first job was at 16 in 1997 at McDonalds and I’m still thankful for it because I learned all the lessons you mention on why to get a job.
I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one. Thank you for that comment Crystal!
The ending just means so much, and encourages me even more
You are the real deal Brian! Thank you for your generosity! Will pass this on to my kids!
Great content, life changing! Reading is not just enough". Take action! Put your found knowledge to use. I read for a long time but action made my life change in no time (generally and mostly financially)
That's my two cents on this
I struggle to follow through especially financially.
Get a financial expert to help you
@@hillaryvasquez9651 Thanks
I heard hiring a financial coach is quite expensive but I will have a look at it
There's financial coaches out there to create values and not just for the money they make. You can look out for them.
Thanks for your teachings
I helped my oldest son start his own business doing engineering, design, and prototyping while in high school.
This is amazing Brian! I love that you are offering this info for our young adults! Much of this we didn't learn until later in life and would have been so helpful to know as young adults! Thank you for putting this info out there for our young adults! Bless you!💜
Love you man. Thank you. Just following this video to my kid...13 and impressionable.

This is very much appreciated. I’ll show this to my two teenagers, Thank you Brian!
I'm not a teen anymore, but I'm still learning and find these very informative. Thank you.
Great vid. I'm glad my dad taught me all this, made things easy for me. Hoping my daughter listens when I tell her this stuff.
Brian, thank you for making this video. It is extremely educational for so many young ones. This should have been taught in schools . 🙂
This video is good for Dads/moms for their kids. Margin account, and learning the market movement is cruicial also landing that good job with high salary to start with capital for investing.
Great Great Great Advise. This could apply to anyone who is starting the moneny learning path. Thank you.
Awesome video for parents who have kids. Thank you sir
This is Brian.

Brian does not turn into asshole..
