I literally pulled like 60+ video clips to edit this thing, so I hope you enjoy! Timestamps in the description, kiddos. Now go listen to "Martha Divine!"
Thanks for this video, glad you put Tyler Childers in here, when are you gonna review some Jacob Bryant though? Just sayin, you'll probably like his music
Great video!
Oh my god! Martha divine is soooooo good
You should definitely do a whole video segment on Ashley McBryde. Unfortunately many folks are missing out on a wonderful songwriter with an amazing voice.
Blane rudd: red white and blue collar town check it out!
You either like Tyler Childers or you're wrong.
Mate to me The Highwomen are pure corporate country. The lyrics maybe anti corporate country but the production is absolutely rubbish corporate country. The best music that is coming out today in all genres of music is being made by women, it's just they ain't it.... It's rubbish
I second that.
Tyler Childers is the fucking man. John Moreland is also top notch.
tyvek05 yeah, you're completely wrong on that one. There is nothing pop about his music.
@tyvek05 I will disagree with that. I believe some "real country" artist are pop country. The artist in my eyes is Luke Combs. But I believe that Tyler Childers is more a traditional country singer because it somewhere between bluegrass and country
Tyler Childers recently came back to southeast Kentucky for some New Years Eve shows. After the shows he was down with the cleaning crews in the middle of the night tidying up the expo center. How can you not like an artist like that. Remember your roots.
True that
Whenever someone creates a “THICKET” ringtone let me know
Caleb Smith yes!!!! Omg I need that it my life!!!
You just inspired me to do that... Let me tell you, life changing
Grady, Colter Wall is serously underrated. He has an amazing crowd of followers called Folksingers Union. You have to do a more in-depth video of him
Yeah! If Colter Wall wouldn't be that sturdy he'd be crushing everything. But maybe it's the best for him and so for us.
I really like him but not a fan of his dad lol.
@@sk1ppercat912 Whos his dad?
Thomas Wilson he’s a political in Canada. Don’t mind his party but he’s been involved in a bunch of sketchy stuff.
@@sk1ppercat912 Good to know. All politicians are into some shady stuff. Doesn't matter what their party or beliefs are. Thats why i dont listen to any of em lol
Benjamin Tod and his band Lost Dog Street Band are definitely on the come-up in the new wave of Outlaw Country. You'll generally hear him/them on the same playlists and conversations as Tyler Childers and Cody Jinks.
Lost dog has been my most listened to band for 3 years running
Grady mentions Tyler Childress' voice *immediately inserts Thicket clip*
It's the right thing to do.
Grady Smith 18:33 THICKET!
Grady Smith absolutely lol 😂!
Im glad you talked about Orville, honestly I wasn't a country fan until I heard his music, his stories and style really clicked for me, and now I've been getting into a lot more country because of it.
Same here.
Same! Him and Yola opened me up to country.
sneakymonkey101 Let me guess, you also watched the Alfo Media video on country??
@@Cla226 No, but I'll check it out!
Same here!
I’ve never heard of Orville Peck but I can appreciate someone who was willing to be out in the country world
I had never heard of him until I heard "Take You Back" on SiriusXM Outlaw Country. He has a great story and a terrific voice.
He sucks. He is like country gone new wave
He's phenomenal. And an amazing voice.
I think you missed a few people who should definitely be on this list: Cody Johnson, Colter Wall, Dillion Carmicheal, Brent Cobb, Randall King, Ian Noe, Charley Crockett, Kelsey Waldon, Cody Jinks, Mike and the Moonpies.
He did include a picture of Ian early in the video.
Totally agree. Especially CoJo, Randall King and Cody Jinks
Coltwr wall habds down best country artist.,now days.
The Steel Woods
I only know 3 of them folks you named but dont forget, the steeldrivers, chris Stapleton, turnpike troubadours.
I'm convinced Tyler Childer's can write some of the best love/longing/regret songs out there. Check out Lady May, Shake the Frost, Universal Sound (album version), Coming Down, Rock Salt and Nails, Follow You to Virgie, and Bottles and Bibles. The man can make your soul cry.
Tony Min. Look at some of his unreleased songs (ie) coming home, queens ball, a song while your away, Oneida, Jersey giant and a few more. To me, those are some of the beat songs he has ever written and sang
@@monkeyman7048 Thank you. I will definitely check them out. I seem to find some of his best work on UA-cam. But I grabbed as many albums as I could to support him. I have tickets to the Sturgil Simpson/Tyler Childers Tour and I'm stoked.
Tony Min. No problem. I’ve had these songs on repeat for the last week. They are great. I also do seem to find some of his best stuff on UA-cam. I am jealous of those ticks though lol. Wish i had them.
his version of rock salt and nails is really good but i believe it was originally written by utah phillips
@@wyliegriffith80 You are correct sir. I learned something new today, thank you.
My local "country" station still plays " I wish country music still got played on country radio" line. A much better line in that song
Same here, in fact on all the country stations in my area.
Yup
My stations do to 94.9 the Bull and South 93.5
Zach Bryan is for sure crazy talented. His music resonates with me in a way that few artist's music does.
I just found out about Orville as well and I’m loving him. Great voice. Very mysterious.
Cody Johnson has a HUGE following in Texas and is just now been getting really noticed in the mainstream. Us Texans love our CoJo
Whenever Grady Mentions Tyler Childers, I brace myself for the incoming "THICKET", and yet it still gets me smiling every time.
Orville Peck’s voice reminds me so much of Matt Johnson from The The, with some Morrissey thrown in.
This "discovery" type of video is the best content, Grady. Love this stuff.
Koe Wetzel live is definitely an experience... Everyone ages 16-26 in the state of Texas either wants to be this guy or wants to be with him.
You gotta talk about Colter Wall and Sierra Ferrell more ! Both incredible!
Tyler Childers:
Us: 😟😟🥣 "Please sir can we have some more"
when i first heard orville peck, i thought of chris isaack and johnny cash
Abigail Boreski I totally thought those two mixed with a little Elvis.
Zach Bryan is absolutely an amazing artist!!
That I would have never discovered if it wasn’t for this channel. Thank you!
I love how after watching your videos I get to go discover new artists I have never heard before but really end up liking them.
Whiskey Myers doesn’t really get much hype or anything but man they are so good and their album that came out a couple months back was awesome. I think they’re really gonna continue to grow
2/3 of their songs are straight up rock.
@@CarrottBear that is true, but 90% coming out of Nashville is complete trash, just songs that fill a algorithm with a pop track. That said I'd rather listen to Whiskey Myers anyday over Luke Bryan, Aldean, stooopid hunt ECT.
George Straight is the king, Cody Jinks is right behind him as far as I'm concerned. Then you have Turnpike Troubadours, The Steel Woods, Cody Johnson, Randy Rogers Band, Muscadine Bloodline, Whitey Morgan. Anyhow, there are many better options than what is crammed in our ears from radio.
@@tjbier - 100% agree. Whiskey Myers is amazing band. Their time is coming.
Probably my favorite video you've made in awhile and I love all your videos! Glad Koe Wetzel got a shout out!
Don't put Riley Green into the outlaw genre just cause he said "take a bow for Robert E. Lee" that shit isn't outlaw country, Colter Wall singing about being homeless and rambling around while being drunk and shit is outlaw. Along with Tyler Childers and Billy Strings singing about drugs and murder. That shit is outlaw country
Just when i was asking about Orville Peck! Perfect timing
The one artist I’m looking forward to the most is Ian Noe. His songwriting is top notch and I can’t wait to see how he improves from here
He is an absolute genius. Hopefully I'll get to see him live soon.
I’m going back and watching this now in 2021 and now all the artists are mentioned are becoming huge and I think tiktok has been a huge part of that
Just found your channel, excited to check out more! I came into this video being a huge fan of Tyler, and enjoyed a few spins of the Highwomen + Orville Peck's album. Of the others you shared here, Zach Bryan is the one I'd want to check out next - just b/c of the authenticness you mentioned. Thanks for making this!
YES ZACH BRYAN IS AMAZING
Excellent list here Grady!
You didn't mention that Orville Peck is Canadian. Yup, we do country up here as well. :-) (Shania is from Northern Ontario, Terri Clark, Alberta, Tenille Townes, Alberta)
Shania is from Timmins, Ontario, and another example of a up coming artist in ontario is The Reklaws.
Colter wall is Canadian
i fell in love with morgan wallen & hardy as soon as i heard of them, ive known of morgan since 2017 & ive seen him live 2 times already & ive already got tickets for my 3rd show. i seriously love morgan & hardys friendship as well. they are without a doubt my 2 favorite artist in country music rn.
I have tickets to see Ashley in a couple weeks, and I'm so excited!!
Super excited for another video!!!!
Thanks for introducing me to Zach Bryan --- I must be out of touch and late to the party about him, but a voice I didn't even know I was missing! Much love for that
Like always great video Grady! You should do a video on Ashley McBryde. Also, I feel like Randall King is bringing back the 90s country sound. Wish he would cut Hey Cowgirl, sounds like a George Strait song.
He just released Hey Cowgirl :)
I’m so glad you put Tyler in here!! If you didn’t I was going to comment him!
You had three of my favourite artists on here who are totally underrated
Love that you mentioned Parker & Koe.
Those boy can get the crowd rowdy! Hardy is growing on me. Tyler of course is incredibly talented.
Grady, I would love to see a full video on Billy Strings! I think he is really underrated!
I was SO hoping Gabby Barrett would be on this. Thank you!
I found Tyler Childers on 2021 Farm Aid last week. He got a hold on me just like that. I have been listening to him non stop since that day. I see in comment sections in videos people saying he hooked them just like that too. I’ve never seen an Artist have comments like that before. If you haven’t already.. check him out. He should be on Country radio.
Totally agree about Riley Green. I'm a Country radio DJ and got meet him during the Country Cares for St. Jude Seminar a couple weeks ago. He talked to me for a few minutes and is genuinely a nice guy! His lyrics can be cliche but I don't get bored of hearing them everyday... yet.
I subscribed and turned on notifications, thanks for all the good content
My first song from Ashley McBryde was Radio Land. She's so down-to-earth, raw, real, grit with grace, and the real deal in the country music industry.
I definitely think Charles Wesley Godwin's name should be among them at some point this year, dudes got so much potential with a really unique sound
I was JUST thinking I'm ready for more from him 🤗
Thanks to you Grady I am now in love with orville peck's music
Another Texas artist getting a ton of buzz right now is Kolby Cooper. His 2019 album Good Ones Never Last was one of my favorite albums of the year.
Come on man!!! Charlie Crockett and AG's Connelly!!! GET IT DOOOONE!!!! LOL
I didn’t realize you hadn’t done a video on Ashley McBryde. I absolutely adore her and feel like she is the modern country answer to those of us who grew up listening to our mothers play Reba and Trisha. I can’t get enough!
My guy Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers. Great stuff! Gotta put on some Colter Wall and Billy Strings too
Ashley McBryde by far one of the best out there. I was lucky enough to see here in concert this past week. She was amazing!!!
The riley green “i wish country music still got played on country radio” line brought a huge grin to my face the first time i heard it
I don’t agree with the decision to mention certain artists in this video, but I did really enjoy the concept and form of it. Would Love to see you point out and feature some less popular artists coming up in the traditional country scene
Ian Noe and Billy Strings are two of my up and coming favorites. More folky/bluegrass tones but overall fantastic guitar work and well written lyricism. Definitely worth checking out!
Thank you Keeps for keeping my boy fed.
I can listen to Ashley McBryde all the day long! Her lyrics, her music and voice are Spot On.... and she is Gorgeous!!
Just got back from the Morgan wallet concert a couple hours ago. It was amazing
Wallen*
Pleeeease make an Ashley McBryde video. I just love her!
He already has an album review of her. and he keeps talking about her constantly so check those videos out
Love love me some Ashley McBryde. Fabulous storytelling!
Watched your Kip Moore interview (a guy I love) and have been binging your videos and you are awesome. Just became a patron!
Thank you!!
All great picks!
Any chance you could do a video on the state of country, in terms of the difference with nashville country and indie country. Just not from the US and its hard to grasp all the states having different types of country. Could be a cool video if you do a few of your favourites from each states
I started checking out Orville Peck last week when I saw he's playing a Montana festival I'm going to. Super excited to hear more from him!
Love colter wall!!! And Ashley mcbryde is the shiz!!! Love her new track! I love Pecks voice. And of course love me some Childers!
What do you think about Randall King? He's another Texas country guy has a kinda George strait vibe
Was literally about to throw his name in here. Guy has a great talent that needs to shine!
Shattered Smoke 100% agree, some great songs from that guy
Hey Grady! Do you have a country music workout playlist? Really hope you will have a video about it soon! 😁
The "you're so happy" lyric in that Gabby Barrett song reminds me too much of the line in Maggie Rogers' "Light On"
I was never really into Koe wetzel before I saw him live in Lubbock, one of the best concerts I’ve ever been
I found Ashley McBride from one of your other videos and how is Andy not blowing up? It is the most honest portrayal of love ever.
I'm not buzzy but I'm real country. Give me a listen Grady. Love your feed.
Hey Grady, thanks for the great videos!
I just really want to know your opnion about artist like Lauren Jenkins, Lindsay Ell and Logan Mize.
I would love to see you take a look at the 4 Wheel Drive guys, Cole Taylor, Travis Denning, Jon Langston, and Jordan Rager.
YES! Make another Ashley #BadAsh McBryde with a Y Video! She will blow up mainstream in 2020.. Love Riley, Randall, Gabby.. gonna see Colter Wall LIVE next month.. I will check out KOE! Texas charts are sooooo much better than most.
Adele has my favorite quote
"I don't make music for the eyes. I make Music for the ears."
Which I think is perfect...
("Video killed the radio star")
Minnesota plays a good amount of female singers all the way around. At least, they did before I stopped listening to the same 20 songs 60 times a day on mainstream radio.
To be fair though, women CAN get pitchy. I say that as a born and raised straight Female who's never been barefoot and pregnant so... yeah.
(That worked out in my head. 😆)
Keep up the great work Grady!! :-)
Your honest opinion and well thought out reviews have been a refreshing moment in the egg shell p.c. filled weeks and months!
~Jen~
You make great videos
I just saw Morgan Wallen in concert and OH MY GOSH Amazing!! He definitely sounds different over a mic but not in a bad way AT ALL!!!
Every country fan should check out GemsOnVHS. They seek out unknown, extremely talented and independent country artists and record them live. Found over a dozen amazing artist. Very emotional music with brilliant writing.
Ian Munsick, Read Southall Band, the lil smokies, Pecos & the Rooftops and Dylan Wheeler are all going to have major increases in thier respective fanbases with new albums being released this coming year.
Artists that are starting to build their fan bases and making noise are Carson Jeffery, Jarrod Morris, Jacob Stelly, Chris Jones and the fly catchers, and Tanner Usrey. All released music last year. We will see if they can get the buzz around them to stay.
Pecos and the rooftops and Read Southall are my favorite at the moment. Can’t wait to hear more from Pecos!
your review of ashley's debut album turned me on to your channel grady. glad you liked it or I wouldn't still be here. lol...you are doing great work for the country music scene...kudos young man
lol. Just couldn't resist slipping that "thicket" in there could ya
OUR GUY GRADY IS BACK AT IT
I love Tyler Childers and Ashely McBryde!!
Tyler Childers has been all I've listened to for the past 3 months. So genuine. I love him.
Look into colter wall and lost dog street band man
@@lanceroberts4127 thanks will do!
I love Ashley Mcbride. Saw here in concert with little big town 💖💖💖💖🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I have recently been tuned into Tessy Lou Williams, whose songs are all great on her recent album, in fact I ordered that album today, something I haven't done in many years!
Love all of these artists especially the highwomen! also pleaseee take a look at jackson dean and let me know what you think.
Ashley McBryde needs to get more radio play as she reminds me of all the great country women from the 90’s. Her album is fantastic.
Love Ashley, Parker and Koe!!
I just saw Orville live in Sydney last week and he was absolutely fantastic. Stoked to see you covering him! Huge fan of Ashley, cannot wait for her new album. Will there be a Spotify playlist of these artists coming on your profile? Love your work as always xx
My uncle and cousins are huge koe fans. I listen to his music sometimes but I’ve never been super crazy about him. I never knew that koe was coming up that quick. Sure am happy for him though!
All comments aside of the actual video content (which is always great) WHERE do i get a copy of that wolf picture in the background!? I always wanted one!
John Moreland. One of the best songwriters of our time
Livin in cali, ive always loved folk but never gave country a try. Zach and Orville really kicked the door open for me.
Grady check out William Clark Green. He’s out of texas, but from a sound perspective is pretty unique from any other country musicians out there today, just released a new video today actually! He also has some incredible live videos as well!
Love that you hit on Koe and Parker. They’re gods here in Texas for college kids. Especially college girls
Parker Mccollum is my favorite! he was on a playlist on spotify and I just got grabbed by him. Listen to him lots and lots under 2019. Great artist (btw, im not really that into Country! more of a rock/pop/jazz guy. )
I was finna have a cow until 16:08 thought you left the kid out at first !
