Also, it looks a lot like Soviet attack helicopter MI-24. I've heard that MI-24, was the inspiration of LAAT. And fun fact. When Anakin orders pilot to shoot down count Dooku he said that they out of rockets. And you can notice these damn air-to-air missiles, hanging on the wing and asking pilot, like: "Are we a joke to you?"

There are so many things that are identical to my bird and it how we do things but obviously with a faster fixed wing vtol. Kinda why it has always interested me. Oh as the size is almost identical. We only Cary like 11. It far less when they are heavy with gear or we need to go higher and the air is thinner. That that bird has some massive advantages
Based on Black hawk AND the HIND. But more on the Hind because it can do Gunship roles and transport without much modification unlike the Blackhawk (Which needs modifications before being getting a role of the gunship) The Hind is basically an Apache that can carry troops like LAAT

I think it's based more on the Mi-24 Hind than the Blackhawk, being both a gunship and troop carrier as well as having literally the same dual bubble cockpit.
I hate that during the clone wars, the show runners basically forgot that these gunships had this incredible arsenal and the gunships just became Cannon fodder that never used it's multitude of weapons and always got shot down incredibly easily.

I loved this ship,when I first saw it in EPII. Made a true 1/18 scale one for my Padawan and still has it,now, I'm working on a 1/6 scale one for me and can't wait to finish it and makya video on it. and their Info on this,is very valuable to the construction of the Project 😁👍
The LAATs were modified during the clone wars. They took the 'tiny death stars' off and instead the whole vehicle became able to travel in space. (they couldn't initially because of the gaps in troop compartment walls) Nevertheless it still had a formidable armament, I don't get why they became cannon fodder in the 2008 clone wars series... And of course thank you for all your hard work Halfscreen, you are awesome ^^
I always imagined these badboys with two 20mm in the chin, 50 Calibers in the two ball turrets, a 25mm in the back, Hellfire missiles launching out of the tubes, and 20-30 SOF loaded for bear ready to land, rappel, or parachute down into a fight.

Ah, one of the best Star Wars designs ever; the bastard love child of a blackhawk and a Hind with a sprinkle of Star Wars magic. Though I would avoid using the numbers from the Attack of the Clones Cross Sections book, it was written by a StarDestroyer.Net fanboi and they think the fire power of the setting is stupid levels of over powered (all because they not only took the notion that a Base Delta Zero "slags" as planets surface as literal, they also for no reason assumed that a single Star Destroyer could do it in a single volley... yeah....). To give you and idea of how stupid these numbers are, they state that a Accumulator class had an output of a 600 gigaton bomb per double turret, or 300 gigatons per cannon. Now while we don't know how much a turbo laser weighs but lets assume that each gun clocks in at @ ~6,100 tons (~10,000 US tons), that would mean that a ~4kg blaster rifle would have the output of ~73 tons of high explosives (120 US tons) per shot! While a blaster rifle is no doubt powerful but we clearly do not see a single blaster bolt dropping buildings! More realistically they do damage on par with at lest a 20mm HE shell going by original trilogy scenes, Di$ney Star Wars seems to have nerfed blasters a lot. I don't know about you but facing an army where the base level gun is as powerful as an 20×110mm round is pretty terrifying, no need to bump the power level up to stupid heh.

Aren't those side doors pretty useless? There isn't much space there to warrant the door even opening. If the whole side was closed then it would be a different story. This is depicted in TCW show.

That was my complaint as well, they didn't seem to use their weapons nearly as much as they should, they just dropped the troops and left.
I always thought the Gunship from TCW were space-class due to their slide door design, whereas in AotC/RotS are the definitive assault aircraft. 🤔
They clone wars versions also lacks the ball turrets (except the Geonosis episodes which suprisingly uses them).

It's not a glider. The engines wasn't really mentioned on the schematic but my assumption was on top of the open bay.
