It's minus 9 Celsius here, that's 15.8 F; with the wind chill it's -17 C or 1.4 F. I wish I was down there. I hate the cold. But at least there are no mosquitos. I've learned the hard way as well, the more you do for people, the more they hate you. Human nature is strange indeed.
My grandfather would round up all the older boys but would allow me to sit in at times to tell them stories and to teach them how to be grown, responsible men. Five things stand out to this day and he's been correct. 1. Always think twice before making a decision. Sleep on it if you have to. Do not rush into anything. 2. If you buy on price, you will buy twice. 3. No good deed goes unpunished. 4. Protect your kids from their mothers. 5. Be nice. A friend of mine and I volunteered to serve food at a local Catholic soup kitchen. The guy who runs it called to let me know we are not needed any longer. I asked the reason why so to not make the same mistake if we volunteer somewhere else in the future. He told me the women were upset that my friend dressed to show off. She wore loose fitting jeans, a sweatshirt, had her hair in a ponytail, and wore almost no makeup. Seems the women were upset that she had on a necklace. A cross. Nothing special. The guy actually had the nerve to ask when I will drop off the turkeys I donated every Thanksgiving. I told him I will not be doing so nor going forward. He got snippy, so I simply said, "have a nice day". A few weeks later I ran into another guy who volunteers. He didn't greet me with the same cheerfulness. I asked if there was something wrong. He told me I was wrong for not donating the turkeys, and how petty I am for it. I asked him if he heard the entire story. He said he didn't need to. I then told him the entire story. He looked shocked. I told him I have nothing against any of the people at the soup kitchen nor him, but I won't wasting my time or money on silliness from women who are jealous of other people. In this case it was another woman. He just stood there as I walked off. I learned a valuable lesson as a teenager. A friend liked a girl so he accepted a job with her uncle to install a putt putt course. It was a two day job. There were 12 of us on the crew and 5 on the cleanup crew. The uncle promised us $250 for the two days of work. Cash. The first day he brought food and soda/water/coffee to the job site. We completed close to 66%. He was to pay us half the money on day one and the other half when we completed the job. He made up some excuse about an "emergency". Some of the older guys did not return. They were going to go to his house to next day for the half day pay, and they did. The rest of us, me included because my friend was duped by the girl's smiles, showed up and finished the job. The uncle showed up and walked around and started yelling that we screwed up and he is using our money to pay for the job to be corrected. Of course he was lying. On the way home I asked my friend if her smiles were worth being used and ripped off. He could not believe what happened and how easily he fell for her lies. I told my uncle who headed the Teamsters then about what happened. He told me not to worry and I will get my money and an apology. A few days went by and sure as rain the guy asked us to his house where he apologized and paid us. My uncle called the city inspector who was going to make the guy rip up the entire course if he did not pay us. I moved with caution going forward, but these days I simply do not help people I am not related to or am mot with at the time. Not worth the legal troubles or risking my health or life. I made it to 58 intact, and I have more retirement years to enjoy.
🤠 Charity is great and is always very much needed but you have to do it in a way that Moochers can't take advantage of it. Yes pickup the new RING door model that has an updated video camera. And for a new toy to play with may I suggest picking up a DJI Osmo Mobile 6 Gimbal for Smartphones. Its used by content creators to record with a smartphone, its basically a very high tech selfie stick, it has gyros to keep the image level and stabil, you can record in Landscape mode alot more comfortable, the stick has feet so u can quickly turn it into a Tripod, im going to pick one up myself down the line for my next trip to NICA 😎🏡🇳🇮
i stopped fixing peoples cars for that exact reason .... they want to pay me with little ceasers pizza or a case of beer but they will pay the shop 500 dollars ..... when i ask for 500 dollars they look at me strange
No good deed going unpunished is one of the most sobering truths of life!
I have had similar experiences. We who are capable are taken advantage of repeatedly. I have stopped offering help and also never ask for help.
When a man volunteers, everyone will take advantage of you. On the other hand when a female volunteers she is seen as an angel.
Thank you, Kurt, I just got tired of it. I hope you are both safe and healthy.
Love ya MGF...
I saw a video yesterday that listed women as they Play in their 20s, Pray (for a good man) in their 30s, and Pay (for their sins) in their 40s.
That is perfect, love ya Whearts.
