- There was a time in this country when people believed that if you just enter this city you will be liberated, because it was such a powerful space. Above all, the heart of the city was Vishwanath. The temple was destroyed a long time ago, but it is supposed to have been consecrated by Adiyogi himself.
Kashi is a fantastic place. We have to restore this once again to its full glory because never before have humans dared to create something as magnificent and as profound as Kashi on this planet. But unfortunately, it has taken the beating of time and invasions, and much has been damaged. It is time to restore this and put this back. This is not religion. This is our responsibility. If we are concerned about human wellbeing, the methods and the mechanics and the tools which were created for human wellbeing must be restored.

Not just Gyanvapi Masjid but all the surrounding houses should be vacated because there are houses with Shiv ling and few houses has Sun temples. Butcher shops all around the temple, lack of hygiene. People should be moved and given land elsewhere by govt.

This is the highly unfortunate that a spiritual place and ancient mandir with historicsl significance has to be wait for a court discision against a cruelty which bears no significance infront of Kashmi Vishwnath. A significant historicsl ancient mandir can not overpower an insignificant mosque. Any Masjid in Bharata is irrelevant and can be eliminated if it stands against Bharatiya civilisational connection
This is the land of Asthavakra, who forgave the person who made his father sacrifice his life because Ashtavakra believed his forgiveness was his revenge. A philosophy like this may make us weak in some ways but also makes us stronger in many others. We are eager to forgive when one admit their mistake but we are not hesitant to pick up Shastra when there's a threat on dharma.
We need to take our gyanvapi back

The destruction of the Mandir and the building of a mosque in its place, was a blatant lack of respect for a faith,other than that of Aurangzeb’s. It was an act to establish dominance over the devotees and an insult to them. The current day devotees have two options, swallow the injustice or reclaim the Mandir. The former seemed to have been the case in the past. The faithful had no option but to be tolerant due the political situation and the fact that the people of Bharat were dealing with surviving after Independence and Nehruvism. Not anymore. It is sad that the Muslim leadership is fighting the reclamation of a place considered holy. It is only a matter of time that the mosque will either be deconstructed or demolished.

You have mentioned about two pieces of shivalingam after destruction by Aurangzeb. Before him also same sequence of events like two pieces of shivalingam happened during the raid by Delhi sultanates. There is some history related to shimoga dist of Karnataka as mentioned by daughter in law of Raja shivappa nayak in her book. I am writing it as I remembered.
When Vishwanath mandir got destroyed before Akbar, may be at sikandar Lodi time,1490 AD(it was destroyed many times and built many times), there was no puja for many years.Raja shivappa nayak , a king from keladi, near present Shimoga dist of Karnataka, went to Delhi in the disguise of jangama (sadhu), shows his acrobatic and sword skills, impresses Akbar and took permission from Akbar to take out the top portion of shivaling from gyanvyapi open well in which it was thrown during mandir destruction. He took that one and established it in a small town of Nepal near present day Indian border.
Inspired by this, on later date(1585 AD) Raja Todar mal could get courage to ask Akbar's permission to construct kashi Vishwanath temple.
I consider this is Karnataka's one of the contribution (changing the environment, bringing the courage to ask)to Kashi Vishwanath.
