I'm on the venue while being worried that my lightstick won't sync with the CB Infinity, but suddenly, all lightsticks turned blue (which is an indicator that it synced). And yes, just leave your lightstick ON, and it'll sync before the concert starts.
I experienced the same thing, I noticed one of my batteries was bloated. Check yours if that's the case. If not, probably there's something wrong with the battery holder or the spring inside the lightstick.
I had a similar problem :( the battery thing wouldn't touch the energy receptor. My solution? To put something inside the base as an extra base but if you will try to do it, BE CAREFUL to not stuck something inside there
