Now, I'm feeling as though we were cheated in Chicago. Gotta admit I've seen this dude four times: the Capital Jazz Fest in Maryland; Chicago three times- he opened for Lenny Kravitz, at the Vic Theatre, and at some festival (went solo). His musicians are awesome! I'd go again tomorrow too.
Its the fact that Raphael Saadiq guitar riffs help construct the Neo-Soul sound is mind blowing, he litterly is the embodiment of stay lay and keep firing, salute King just wow
Blown away by his pen 🖊️! How could I not know he wrote “Kissing You” & “Cranes”? Thank you for showcasing a real clinic! Maestro Saddiq is masterful! 😮🎉❤
I had no idea he wrote all of these songs either. When he mentions “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind and Fire”?! That was my push song when I gave birth to my daughter. This man is PURE GOLD. His voice, his groove. His soul. His charisma is off the charts!
I was today years old when I found out this man wrote “Kissing You” for Total and it TOTALLY MAKES SENSE! 👀🤣 I have loved that song since the very first time I heard it. I’ve had it on damn near every playlist I’ve created since then. I have loved everything this man had created since I was 12 years old so yeah, I totally get it, no pun intended. 😍 Edit: Didn’t know he wrote MOST of these song “Soul Sister”? “Cranes”? “ Love of my Life”?😳 I can hear him all over these songs now but I love how each artist was able to make each song their own 🥰 I’m so proud he is from Cali like me 😍
My homeboy has been great at what he does (MUSIC) since we were kids in Oakland, Ca. Loyalty will get you a front spot with fans; Raphael has been a perfectionist since when I first met him; I had a tie on, and he straightened it for me, not because he had to; he pays attention to detail, outstanding performance, I would like to see him and his brother Dwayne back on stage!
I Love of lot of Artist but he's the truth. Love him. Musically inclined completely. I will always follow his music. My man Raphael Saadiq!!!Musically Yours!!! 🎶 😍🎤🕺🎤😍🎶
The musician in me had to pause this video so many times!!! He’s the type of musician I gravitate towards. He is married to the groove. In that Prince, Nile Rogers, kinda vein. Some artist are just “connected”.
A reunion with all original members of founding group Tone Toni Tony would be awesome. They broke up over money and certain members not getting a fair share of their millions.
Are folks there at the concert singing his hits? Wasn't he part of one the best bands of all time? On movie soundtrack. Did a duet with earth wind and fire? Yes yes and yes so how in the hell is he underappreciated? Why is it that folks use ur word and the word underrated on UA-cam so darn much my gosh!
What a phenomonel concert! He did his thing both vocally and musically, really illustrating his prowess on the guitar! So surprised by this because I don't live that far from Brooklyn but knew nothing of this concert and Raphael Saadiq is my favorite artist of today! In addition to his own solo hits, he gives you a taste of the things he collaborated on with Lucy Pearl, Q-Tip, Total, Erekah Badu, Bilal, Solange Knowles and, of course, Tony! Toni! Tone! The Track listing is as follows: 00:01 Ask of You 04:51 Dance Tonite 07:38 Get Involved 10:30 Kissin’ You 14:00 Love of My Life (An Ode To Hip Hop) 15:10 Soul Sista 16:23 “(I Tried To Take It) Away” [not sure of the title] 18:30 “Let’s Get Down” 20:16 “Feels Good” (instrumental Prelude) 22:14 “Feels Good” 26:52 “ Still Ray”
The interlude they are playing at the beginning is absolutely beautiful!! He should should release that song using that beat. The bass player is giving me life.
And it's even better in person. If he is ever in your town it is worth going to see him live. I had the honor of going to his concert at NJPAC...Amazing!!
When Raphael hit the cord for How Does It Feel. The person in the front turned around and said “ I did not know he wrote this “🤣😂 Dude is so super talented but yet so humble. Unless you’re a true Raphael fan then you had no clue he wrote and produced any of these hits. Solonage said in the interview he had that beat sitting around for eight years, she heard it and asked him could she have it.
So much of his style got that west coast feel like Sly Stone where he breaks it down and goes a completely 180 to another direction.. Keeps you off balance and suspect to what’s going to happening next.. A little of Curtis Mayfield and small pinch of the Brother Johnson ..Yeah he smooth ..and there it goes playing a different melody .. LB June 2022
Wow....that sounds soooo good!!!! I didn't even know who this cat was until today when I was checking out pedal boards for Guitars. The guy from Vertex was building him one and Raphael gave him a little tour of his L.A. studio. Pretty cool. Talented musician and quite the entertainer!!!! Would love to go see him live if he ever comes to Canada!!! One day soon!!!
He got some of Curtis Mayfield style of music with the bass actually taking a lead in the song followed by the strums of a lead guitar.. And some influences Sly Stone, Larry Graham, and pinch of The Brothers Johnson. And when he puts it together you got artistry equals good music.. LB July 2022
Bowdown everyone …. HE IS STILL ONE OF THE R/B SINGERS THAT STILL HAS HIS VOICE AND CAN STILL SOUND EXCELLENT LIVE WITH HIS VOCALS. HE IS ONE OF THE LEGENDS THAT KNEW DRINKING AND DRUGS RUINS YOUR VOICE AND HE NEVER WAS INTO THAT …
Man this took me back to the Jimmy Lee Tour. My last outing before the pandemic in Norfolk Va and DC... I was in such awe I jumped in the car and drove to DC for the weekend show since it was so close! Good times ❤
Raphaels interludes are better than most albums
Bout time for some Lifetime Achievement awards for Mr. Saadiq.
Hell Yes
💯
I wanna like this 50’leven times
Exactly they need to give him his flowers while he here
BET has their favorites.
I think a lot of people forgot Raphael wrote "Lady" and played bass on the track. The brother is truly gifted!
Guitar too. Song was made years before D even got it. No one wanted THAT smash!
He need to be in the Hall of Fame! 🔥
TONY TONI TONE !!!!!!
💯 🔥 truth
This setlist is EPIC! Raphael is the best in the game... artist, producer, songwriter, singer...inspirational.
🔥💯🎶👵🏾
So fluid on so many levels.

@@DC-qk8ue Sounds like a mix tape, doesn't it? A hot mix tape!
O man Legend !
Oh yes he deserves a lifetime achievement award he deserves his flowers right now , please give it to him!!
Its the fact that Raphael Saadiq guitar riffs help construct the Neo-Soul sound is mind blowing, he litterly is the embodiment of stay lay and keep firing, salute King just wow
He is the star that signs real bright out west. So glad that Dwayne and Tim reunited with him.
Blown away by his pen 🖊️! How could I not know he wrote “Kissing You” & “Cranes”? Thank you for showcasing a real clinic! Maestro Saddiq is masterful! 😮🎉❤
This is fire!! Raphael is a True Living Legend!!!
Amen
Aw that intro is Soo pretty!❤❤❤❤
This is my favorite performance by Raphael Saadiq
I had no idea he wrote all of these songs either. When he mentions “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind and Fire”?! That was my push song when I gave birth to my daughter.
This man is PURE GOLD. His voice, his groove. His soul. His charisma is off the charts!
The guitar chords he writes are awesome.....whew!

Ohhh Gregory this man is sooo fine to me,I would love to hug him
He's back on tour with his brother and cousin after a 25yr break. I've been waiting on this. Life truly does bring you back full circle.
@@jd3771Too bad he couldn't get the rest of the original band members on this tour.
CHILLS...every time he performs..❤😊
One of THE most important musicians of the last 30+ years hands down
Makes you say DAMN !!!!!! WISH I COULD BERN THERE.
The transition from 4:44 to “Dance Tonight”..... HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾

I Love of lot of Artist but he's the truth. Love him. Musically inclined completely. I will always follow his music. My man Raphael Saadiq!!!Musically Yours!!! 🎶 😍🎤🕺🎤😍🎶
Same here I’m definitely a huge fan
What a musician this guy is. He’s also quite a workhorse, considering what he’s been busy with over the years for many different artists. A class act.
Yes he is
Raphael Saadiq is the embodiment of music 🎶. He is the only living artist that I would LOVE to meet!🙏❤️🎶🎼🎵🎤🎹🎸🥁
Best audience backup singers.
Can't get enough of this!
Raphael keep the groove going with them sweet hits.
The musician in me had to pause this video so many times!!! He’s the type of musician I gravitate towards. He is married to the groove. In that Prince, Nile Rogers, kinda vein. Some artist are just “connected”.
Whew! unbelievable, how talented he is. Over 30 years of consistent solid hits for himself, his group, and other artists. So talented, just wow!
A reunion with all original members of founding group Tone Toni Tony would be awesome. They broke up over money and certain members not getting a fair share of their millions.
I agree with this 100 percent because Dwayne, Carl, Elijah and Antron deserve their praise as well
This man is the real deal. I had NO idea he wrote these hits!!❤❤❤❤
Yeah, he's the real deal!
Or I...Hes bn all ova I lyfe all dis time.... ❤❤❤

No pissed me off in 2017 went to see him at the Hollywood Bowl in California & he hardly sang any of his hits 🤷🏾♀️🤨
I agree. The video doesn't seem to be able to capture the energy that be in the room when he's performing. Go see him!
Beautiful Saadiq
