    I was hyped with the arrival of the new apex 2/pro, but considering the inferior water resistance, ant+ loss of support, no mapping details etc, I will keep my apex 46mm and I will invest into pod2 sooner or later. The bundle of my apex 46mm plus polar h9 chest strap and coros pod2 will be better than the most expensive garmin watch!

    Thanks for the great hands on review. For the money, I think the Pod 2 is a useful addition to the Pace 2. As for running effort, while I think it has potential, without a wind sensor it is of little value to folks like myself who deal with high winds every run. That metric is what sold me on the Stryd. Perfect for runs on a hilly little island in the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks again.

      We'll have to see where they go from here with their mention of including environmental factors in the future with Effort Pace. The concern for me though is that it seems that they are replacing their own Adjusted Pace (or GAP) and that's already a metric people rely on. With the addition of environmental factors it becomes something completely different. Just seems to complicate things unnecessarily.

      i have stryd and find it useless on hills. it overestimate uphills and underestimate downhills. also frustrating on short intervals because it takes about 3 secs to update when suddenly changing pace. they say new generation stryd is 5x faster when it comes to picking up the pace but it's also 3x the price of coros pod. if coros pod 2 is fast on picking up sudden pace change then it's the clear winner for me. i'd wait for more reviews

    I ran 5k (using the Pace 2) downtown amongst some tall buildings and recorded 4 kms at around 4:40 per and one km at a surprise 3:20…I did not switch gears and run 3:20 that 5th km. So I ordered the Pod2.
    Hoping it will fix these time/distance hiccups when running in these environments.
    I don’t really care if the running line on map is fixed…more that I get my times and distances corrected.
    Thanks for the video!

    Great review Des! Does the POD 2 show same or similar distance across different shoes on the same course? The current styd footpod has a lot of overreporting and underreporting across various shoes on the same course.

    Hey Des, great video review
    So I'm running Chicago in oct 24, and I tried doing the same comparison between the Coros 2 + POD2 and my main watch Garmin Epix Gen 2 + Stryd. And although your results seem very similar between the different watches im getting a lot of variances in mine. Since GPSs in Chicago cause problems i want to run with either a Stryd or pod setup to have better accuracy during the run, but my data is all over the place.
    Did a 1hr run with 3 watches
    Coros + POD
    Time 1:01:15
    Distance 9.40
    Avg Pace 6:31
    Epix + Stryd
    Time 1:01:14
    Distance 9.03
    Avg Pace 6:47
    Garmin 645 Music (GPS)
    Time 1:01:10
    Distance 9.07
    Avg Pace 6:44
    Im wondering if your setup is somehow different or if you used a calibration factor on your stryd. I just reset everything on my stryd and pod, but still the results are the same. Coros states im much faster and cover more ground in the same time as with both garmins.
    Appreciate any feedback you migh be able to share

    Hi,
    I ran on the treadmill using these pods paired with Apex 2 Pro with different results:
    1. If I run slow with speed of 8.5 kph on the treadmill (it should be equivalent to a pace of 7.08 min/km) but on my Apex 2 Pro it detects 8.06 min/km
    2. But if I run on a treadmill with a speed of 13.5kph (equivalent to a pace of 4.26 min/km) then the Apex2 Pro displays a pace of 4.20min/km which is not much different between the Pod2 and the Apex2 Pro.
    I use an apex 2 pro watch on my left hand and a coros pod2 on my left shoe.
    Any suggestions on how to do it when I run slowly (easy) but can get accurate results?

  • @TimGrose
    @TimGrose Рік тому +2

    Seems a very puzzling product to me in this day and age. From your tests and those on other channels this pod seems to maybe make a Coros watch closer to the performance levels of competitor products "as is" but then in somewhat niche situations anyway. Like if I am doing say a 30 sec sprint I am not looking at my watch every second to see if am going faster! Then there is the fact it is useless to non Coros users (I might have bought one otherwise for maybe treadmill runs) and then the very odd choice of having it on the waist for one set of metrics to another set on the foot. Is it technically possible to pair two pods? The effective dropping of running power thing is also interesting. I tend to agree that all runners "understand" pace and not so many power and commercially trying to "sell" a feature that mostly just confuses runners isn't perhaps the way forward unless you are going to put massive effort in analysis tools to help make any sense of it.

    Do you have to choose to get pace and distance data from either the Pod2 or GPS? Or does it track both GPS and the Pod2 at the same time?
    So if your in a big city marathon and lose GPS what happens? Basically does it work just like Stryd where it doesn’t use GPS at all? Or does it work alongside GPS?
    Thx for the video!

    • @XLJansen
      @XLJansen Рік тому

      You van use the GPS and Coros Pod 2 together at the same time on your watch, the Pod 2 corrects the GPS, it is mentioned on the Coros site: "GPS technology can experience interference. Running through
      tunnels or the first few miles of the Chicago marathon between
      skyscrapers not only disrupts your watch's pace and distance data,
      but also creates messy GPS tracks. That's where the POD 2 steps in.
      With data gathered from various internal sensors, the POD 2 is able
      to auto-correct GPS disruptions such as pace spikes and drops.
      Your COROS watch works collaboratively with the POD 2 to improve
      data consistency during your runs."

    Hi, I was searching through your videos but could not find anything specific. I own Wahoo Bolt, sensors and their HR Monitor. I'm going to take part in Ironman 70.3 next year and was looking for a watch. • @DesFit
      @DesFit  Рік тому +1

      The Pace 2 offers more overall features but as you mentioned a reason to get the Rival would be that you already own a Bolt. The touchless transitions feature is another reason you may consider the Rival though since you're looking at something specific for triathlon.

      @@DesFit Thank you for that quick reply. I plan to use some additional stuff such a "Core Body Temp" and so far Wahoo is slow in integrating those things. I currently have a Apple Watch Series 7, which is great for running (minus the battery life) and with new OS update, it has Tri workout. Not sure where I read but wahoo Rival has issue with Freestyle swimming in pool about the data it collects. So while the Tri would be a yearly event, I'd be doing more running events and in that case, the Coros Pace 2 with the Pod 2 seems enticing :). So much confusion
