nice blog. one suggestion is, coz you usually have an end-2-end journey, you can also mention the composition of the train. on the western railway Memu which once ran between Virar and Dahanu, it was a 12 coach, with 3 motor cars (1, 6 and 12th) and strangely, motor cars are also part first class coaches. composition of western railway trains and central railway trains are different, so for passengers from one going on other, it often leads to confusion especially since 1st and 2nd class coaches are almost identical in the new trains.

not sure but i am sure it is for WDFC corridor connect to JNPT. currently all freight from JNPT towards Gujarat comes via JNPT - Panvel - Diva - Vasai - Virar - Dahanu and beyond. this freight traffic is the reason why many Virar UP locals run on track 2 before shifting to track 4 after Vasai, similarly, most Virar trains are diverted from 3 to 1 either at Borivali or before Vasai. same reason is for not being able to run more trains on the Virar -Dahanu section. hopefully 3rd and 4th will be done as well as WDFC so when all is done, locals will run on tracks 1-2 from Dahanu to Virar exclusively, outstation trains on 3-4 while most of the freight will go on WDFC. plans are to have 5-6 between Virar and Borivali so as to totally segregate slow, fast and outstation but that is currently only on paper.
