I was looking at drones about three weeks ago. I'm certainly glad I waited! Looking like I'm going to be waiting for a Matrice 4t to test it out in the harshest conditions in Australia 😬
@@CoastalDrone I'll be really interested in the AI capacity, to see how it goes with counting animals and identifying different species. So much potential!
@@jack_out_the_back I was being hyperbolic in the video, and I'm not sure my editor got the joke....but hopefully it does identify animals well or provides good data to external models.
@ didn’t save anything really but I thought ordering direct would make getting repairs and safety work easier. I’ve learned a great deal since then. They have to issue a refund now but they seem to be taking their time. I would like to know what other quality drones are out there, but DJI seems to be pretty far ahead of others. I would welcome any advice or guidance you have. I’m also tasked with getting drone ops going at work. Engineering and IR inspection work.
The Flip looks cool, but I will wait for video reviews. I really want to upgrade my Air 3 to a Mavic 3 pro, I am hoping we see some sweet sales on the Mavic 3 Pro when the Mavic 4 comes out. That being said, I am happy with my DJI Air 3, it's my first drone and for me, it does an amazing job.
For more permanent no fly zones potentially, but not TFRZ’s it’s up to the pilot of the drone to check the flight restrictions in the area before taking off, using a drone to fly over a natural disaster/ emergency situation is both selfish and stupid, not mention illegal. Hope they find the pilot and book them.
@@SleepyCameras exactly - TFRs only work if the pilot (drone, airplane, or helicopter etc) checks for NOTAMS and checks the map. Uninformed / uneducated / non-compliant drone pilots aren't doing pre-flight checks for stuff like this. I'm (Ian) a huge fan of NOT having geofencing on drones as it's a pain in the butt when I know I can fly somewhere legally, but there also needs to be a system that enforces TFRs in circumstances like this. This isn't an easy problem to solve.
I’m having a hard time figuring out what specifically the Flip is for? Outside of the US market, here in the U.K. it changes nothing for regulations and legislation to sign it up the mini 4 pro folds smaller and if it’s the same camera I can’t imagine anyone will really swap over to the flip. I suspect it’s a safer and higher quality replacement of the neo for vlogging and really close flying photography and filming, with the guards? given the lack of obstacle avoidance at the sides at a cheaper price than the mini 4 Pro? Regardless I’ll stick with my mini for now. I doubt it’s a replacement of the mini series.. just an extra option for those wanting safer, cheaper flight
Like I said in the video, I think the Flip is targeting OOP Category 1 operations. If you check the FAA database, there's nothing in Category 1 yet, so the Flip would sell for people that want something simple and don't need to jump through the hoops of obtaining a waiver with a parachute or guards. Now, the question is what happens if DJI is unable to sell in the USA - does the Flip have a market worldwide? This drone wouldn't exist if the market for it didnt.
@@CoastalDrone As I suspect, I worry that it's designed market was soley focused over there in the US, regardless it's a neat drone. Perhaps the EU, regulation may see fit to adjust themsleves around this new model, but i doubt it
As good as the new 4 is it has no weather protection which renders it useless to most commercial pilots specially those using for potential search & rescue missions! This is a miss step from DJI! for people like me having to stick with my M30T. 😔
Forgive my ignorance as drones are a new hobby for me. But does DJI not hold press conferences or events where someone could ask them and get SOME idea about whether some models will continue or not? I know they don’t want to put themselves at a competitive disadvantage or slow sales of current drones. But i wish someone could just ask them whether a new mini 5 pro is coming or not, for example. It’s strange that we have to rely on leaked info from social media rumor mongers. 😝 Jasper says a mini 5 pro is coming in 2025 by the way. But it’s frustrating to have no real idea of what may be coming or when. I’m scouring the internet every week and much of the videos I find are just generic AI generated nonsense. 🤷♂
I mean, we ask the question to start the conversation, but you're right, DJI isn't going to abandon an established trademark that has probably done a Billion or more in sales across the Mini series.
When talking about the drone hitting the plane I was with you when talking uniformly about it putting a bad light on the drone community as a whole. But when saying “it infuriated me that we borrowed our plane to you” infuriated me. It’s saying because being American that we’re more likely to do stupid stuff like this for the vanity of clicks. Don’t alienate people. Bottom line we’re all human.
I was emotional, and what I wrote came across poorly in the edit since it was a fast take, thanks for your feedback. I apologise if it came across as a slight. Canadians do stupid stuff with drones all the time too, especially around fires and disasters. The same thing happened in 2019 in the Okanagan where a bunch of my colleagues were grounded for 4 hours due to a drone flying in the area, and they had to sit and watch a fire that was "under control" overtake a hill and threatened some properties.
Jump to 9:21 for my thoughts on the Palisades Fire Drone hitting the CL-415 Super Scooper.
It’s a-holes like that which cause governments to impose more restrictions. The 250g rule should have been a clue.
Thank you👍

THATS IT! IM GETTIN FLIPPED OFF
Everyone in the US email or call you State Rep etc. Tell them not to ban DJI. They will listen if enough of us say something
My DJI was rejected by US customs 3 days ago. There is no telling when customs will start allowing them in.
Which one was it?
Mini 4 Pro
@@CoastalDrone but I think I’m going to look at the Mavic 3 Pro since they seem to be in stock some places.

I thought DJI and other drones have geo fencing that surely can get updated to make flying in the fire region not possible??
