Reid is the gold standard for game etiquette Such a joy to see player not take any lines that could be considered angle shooting. Just clear communication and razor sharp skill Classy as fuck
At an FNM sure I can see it being scummy but at a tournament against other high level mtg pros I'm using every possible way that is legal to win lol there's a decent amount of money involved.
reid duke is just so flawless in execution and confident with every decision. He has a certain aura about him which can make other perceive him as intimidating which is a very undervalued skill in MTG. Its kind of like fighting once you think your opponent is better than you then you have already lost. To make it better he completely smashed out a known cheater. Good games and very well played by duke
@@johnhowe8424 Let's be honest, he probably cheated his way to the Hall of Fame. Why he decided to continue to do it after being inducted into H.O.F and risk tarnishing his reputation forever is beyond me.
I’m super confused….The turn Yuuya cast his brainstorm instead of a strix is where I knew he lost. If he had cast the strix and drew a card he would at least have a blocker for the Angler. Idk…. maybe I’m wrong.
It's easy to say Yuuya should've played strix because we knew Reid had an angler. But given that Yuuya wanted lands as shown that he prioritized postering for making land drops and that he's a control deck, I don't think making the ponder play was bad. If he hit lands, the ponder would've been perfectly fine and honestly maybe a better play. :)
Time Spiral Remastered. An homage to the last block before Planeswalkers existed. Then the game became a subgame of waste my attack phase and removal killing your Planeswalker so i can go back to actually playing Magic.
I was about to thank Eduardo for not speaking this game, then he has to go an ruin it. “I just fought fhat was rheally good I fink you delve two free minutes into that easy” What are you saying? Is this English? Have you learned how to speak, enunciate, or how to pronounce words? It’s okay to admit you cannot speak anything but your mother tongue. In such a case though, do not offer to announce where your one job will be speaking in another language. If you’re blind do you drive a car? If you’re paraplegic, do you run a 5K? If you’re deaf do you work in a call center? What is this person actually doing as an announcer, and almost more importantly, why didn’t anyone stop him?
That's the shorthand name for Jace's 0 ability. +2 ability when you target opponent's library is nicknamed fateseal after the keyword. Normally they tap the table on or near Jace to tell the other player that they're using his ability rather than an actual brainstorm. These folks know the shortcuts
@@boltthebirb7233 I understand it's a nickname, but my point still stands it's an incorrect play. He also has the card brainstorm, if he just says brainstorm how do I know if hes casting the card or using Jace, or trying to cheat. Its 1 thing if he says 0 Jace to brainstorm and it's another to just say brainstorm.
No land being tapped could be an indicator. I think if both players know what effect is happening and the judges do too then its not illegal. I guess if one of the players was unclear they could ask the other not to use shorthand. The game seemed to go smoothly without controversy.
@@boltthebirb7233 I would have called him out on it, you cant just say brainstorm and start drawing cards. What if the opponent wanted to respond to Jace. That should have been a misplay by not saying 0 Jace. In casual play it's fine but a gp is another thing. Also plainswalkers are the most broken card in the game.
It is stated in the rules that only both players must clearly understand what is happening, how they do it is up to them. If it wasnt clear to you then asking is no problem, but since both clearly understood there is no problem. Also plainwalkers are so broken in legacy in fact that like 3 walkers are viable /sarcasm
They are sponsored by large stores/companies and are provided cards to create decks for events. If they weren't it would be hard for a lot of the pros to afford for sure.
Back at my local shop, the owner would help players going to these larger tournaments put together top of the line decks if they had the cards available. And it's very likely a lot of these older pros can afford or have these cards in their collection. Ontop of that a large selection of reids decks are signed by the artis.
They've been playing legacy since it became popular so they probably got them while they were still cheap back then, got some duals too bought them cheap around 8-10 yrs ago, but still, fuck the reserve list.
They actually buy cards in events like these from other players. And they probably have a collection of their own so its not unlikely. I've remember seeing footage of Reid mentioning going around in these tournaments buying cards from other players. and not just normal cards but legacy-type cards (duals etc).
I love being able to hear the players communicate.
Me too it is so cool. I wish they would do this more.
