Vaporizers require water with some minerals content in order to function properly. If you have filtered water or are using distilled water, this can prevent the unit from steaming. If you are using distilled water, please switch to tap water and try again. If you are using tap water and this does not work, we recommend adding one or two pinches of salt (1/8 tsp). Wait ten minutes for the salt to have an effect, and if it is still not generating steam, or is only generating a little steam, then add a pinch or two more as needed, up to 1/2 tsp.
I have vision problems and a hard time reading anything that's not on a glowing screen. I really wish every company made videos like this for vision impaired/blind people. Thank you 😃👍
@@DiyanaZambrano That wasn't directed toward users, it was obviously to the person who made the video. I don't care for you not caring, so buzz off troll.
Thank you for posting this.I had lost my instruction paper that came with the package I had to pull this bad boy out my closet, because I'm currently dealing with covid for the second time. Hopefully, this will help to open up my noise some❤
Definitely get this humidifier. Make sure you add salt!!! Add about 1/8 tsp salt - just regular iodized salt - nothing fancy. Affordable unit (including salt) & looks nice too. I did not have to use distilled water.
@@mc6642 Yes you can use it with just steam !!! Just make sure you hold the unit in the water for 10 seconds before pushing it all the way down and securing it. Seems to cause a vapor lock if you don't do this and you don't get and steam!! i add salt everyday to mine seems to work well. If you put too much water in the container you will get hot water spitting out of it. Just fill below the line and it seems to work best this way!!!!
I absolutely love my new Vicks humidifier! I’ve been wanting to buy one, tonight I finally did. For once, finally, I will be able to breathe properly and have a great nights rest.
This is an amazing product!, had post nasal drip for about a week tried everything from ginger to nasal irrigation you name it!, after 2 nights of using this this product I no longer wheze when I lie in bed to sleep!.
Great video !! I just bought my Vicksanotor at Walgreens tonight and I never went to college so I didn’t understand how to use it but this video helped so much!!
I needed to add up to 4 pinches of salt to see the steam. Look for the steam about 2 feet above and a little in front of the unit. That worked for me in my medium size bedroom.
Helpful, but corporate. 1. Instead of vapor pads and liquid, use a cotton ball and a 1/4 tsp of Eucalyptus oil. 2. If your machine gets clogged, a more direct fix is to remove the two screws on top, remove the black round jacket, and clean the two heating elements by gently grasping with a pair of pliers. This will break off most of the hard water debris. Make sure the black jacket is clear of debris and reassemble. Fill with fresh water and a bit of salt and presto!
It is corporate, because it is our official video. We will admit that. Also, you can add a small amount of essential oil to the medicine cup if you would like. Just make sure it doesn't end up in the water, as the oils may damage the tank and central tower of the unit. As for the cleaning, and we cannot stress this enough, DO NOT open the unit. This can cause damage to the unit or injury to the user. Additionally, cleaning the unit as you describe will damage the unit. Please only use the cleaning method we have provided to keep from damaging the unit and injury to the users. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@HelenofTroy.com. Thank you.
@@vickshumidifiersthermomete2655 I understand your liability concern, and have deleted my fix, but I have been using this fix on these units for decades with no damage whatsoever to myself or the unit. Water deposits are a real headache in the field, and just dumping distilled water in a clogged unit seems a pretty weak and uncertain fix. If people can service a wood-stove, it would be nice if you carefully laid-out a similar direct fix that would pass your legal department's scrutiny. It's a fine product otherwise, and I recovered many a cold as a child with one by my bed.
Oh no... I just put the pad in the water tank. But the steam never w orked. I think cause i used only distilled and spring water. Is this machine ruined now?
@@sarahs7751 It sounds like your water should be fine, (but you should remove the pad from the tank.) Add a medium pinch of table salt to the tank water. The salt helps a LOT with the function; but don't add too much. Give the unit a few minutes and see what you get; if needed, you can always add a tiny pinch more. You can add water from that point on, and the original salt will continue to work with the added water. (You only need to add more salt when you empty the tank completely and are starting from "zero" again.) If you are all out of pads, put Eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball in the cup on the top. The steam will wet it and the room will fill with that soothing scent. (If nobody's sick, and you still like the humidity, you can add 5 drops of Lavender oil to the cup; It's nice too.
@@Doodooheadjohnnythis one is good even though you have to buy the stuff it works. But the first time you use it you don’t need the liquid and it comes with 1 vapo pad
if you do not use distilled water, which almost no one does due to how expensive it would get because you will likely want 1-2 gallons to steam off each day per each unit, then if using tap water you will slowly accumulate scale over the 2 vertical carbon rods under within the closed black cylinder under the blue cap. this is normal due to minerals within your tap water. over time, as you rinse out the transparent 1.5 gallon container, you will find you need a little more salt to keep the same amount of steam after each cleaning. you can clean the carbon rods to require less salt again, almost back to what you needed when the unit was new. to clean the rods, let the unit cool down for 15 minutes, then find then2 small torx head screws at the top of the blue cap and unscrew them, this releases the black closed cylinder under the blue cap and you will see the 2 rods. there will be a gray scale over the black carbon. you probably shouldn’t waste your time cleaning the scale off until the buildup becomes noticeably lumpy . to remove the scale, i wear rubber gloves (the lack carbon rods will slightly stain your fingers otherwise) and use pliers that have a c-shaped mouth and gently squeeze on about 1/4 of the diameter of the rod (so i pinch off the scale) . after some of the scale is punched off and the black carbon core is revealed, it becomes easier to flake off the gray scaling & you can even just start to scrape along the rod to flake the minerals off. rinse the rods & scrape out any buildup of minerals in the black cylinder & rinse it out. it doesn’t have to be perfect… these units are nicely affordable so plan to replace them every 2-4 years. reassemble. fill container and try it without salt for 15 minutes & add pinches every 5 or soinutes until you get a light to moderate steaming . FEEL YOUR POWER CABLE to make sure it is not warming - you want it to be room temperature so you don’t risk drawing too much current and risk fire potential in your walls or at the power cord. if you want a newer perfect cleaning, you can mix a bucket of water and CLR (calcium lime rust product) or vinegar in lue of CLR and soak you largely scraped clean items so the vinegar or CLR loosens off the rest of the scaling. rinse well!

I have fooled around with my Vicks vaporizer for about five nights, I still can’t get it to produce enough steam. Once I thought I had too much salt, and it was really boiling, so the next night I put less salt and not much steam, then got back up and added it a little bit more salt. It’s steaming tonight, but not very much.. I’m just about ready to pack it up and send it back to Amazon . I was really looking forward to using it, but it just seems to be too hard to get everything just right . I don’t want to have to use distilled water. It’s too expensive to use every night. That’s why I was so excited to find this one.
We're sorry to hear you had this experience. We'd like to look further into this to help. Please contact our team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com for additional assistance.
Hello Matt. This vaporizer does not have a fan. Vaporizers work by the two electrodes in the central tower sending electricity back and forth along the minerals in the water, vaporizing the minerals and the water. The water then leaves the unit as hot steam, moving via convection. This is also why we strongly advise cleaning the unit regularly and not over-saturating the water with minerals. If you have any more questions, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com
@@vickshumidifiersthermomete2655 would using distilled water with this machine help to prevent scale build up on the electrodes? Also, when using hard water with this machine, will the minerals in the water be carried with the steam, leaving scale as white dust on nearby surfaces (similar to ultrasonic humidifiers), or, rather, will this machine only put out steam, leaving behind the minerals/scale? Thanks!
Hello David. Even if the unit is not filled exactly to the fill line. This unit should start steaming after about 15 minutes if there are enough minerals in the water. If you need further assistance with your vaporizer, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
amazingly the video is more helpful than the pamphlet which held the most information in Spanish. Hey Lilys On The Moon. We appreciate your feedback on this matter. One way we continue to improve our products and services is through customer feedback, so we thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hey W Klein. Please note, these units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. It sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is low, which may cause this unit to not produce output. We recommend mixing one or two pinches of salt (1/8 tsp) to your water. Please wait ten minutes for the salt to have an effect, and if it is still not generating steam, or is only generating a little steam, then add a pinch or two more as needed, up to ½ tsp. For additional assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com so we can help.
@@vickshumidifiersthermomete2655 I am on well water, when I had our water tested at the first of the year the results came back extremely hard with a high level of minerals. We do use a whole house filter with a (salt) water softener. So, I am pretty sure our water has plenty of minerals. I have not been using distilled water.
Hey Jordan. This vaporizer should not be left unattended in a closed room since the air could become saturated and leave condensation on walls and furniture. We advise to leave the room door partly open. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
I only use this with my kids at night when they’re congested. Yes, it leaves the walls wet but in the morning we just open up all the windows & air out the room for the day. & it doesn’t take long to dry up either.
Hey Aneesh. We can confirm that the VapoSteam does not evaporate with use. Our VapoSteam is intended to provide up to 8 hours of scent per use. Thank you for your inquiry. To confirm, we recommend to carefully supervise your children when the vaporizer is operating, especially crawling infants and toddlers. For children who can understand, please be sure to take the time to instruct them that the vaporizer is not a toy…it is a device that produces hot steam and could cause severe burns and injuries if they do not stay away from it. If you require additional assistance or would like some help in finding the right humidifier for you, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hello! Quick question. The light on mine will not turn on and it doesn't seem to be producing any steam (although the core feels like its heating up). I've changed the outlet, so I know that's not the source. Do these have a limit of how long they are functional? I've had this one for about a year. Thanks!
Thanks for contacting us about this. These units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. Vaporizers don't actually heat or boil your water using a heating element. Instead, they use two carbon electrodes that pass electricity between each other. As the minerals pass through this electricity they vaporize the surrounding water into steam. If there are not enough minerals in your water, we recommend mixing one or two pinches of salt (1/8 tsp) to your water. Please wait ten minutes for the salt to have an effect, and if it is still not generating steam, or is only generating a little steam, then add a pinch or two more as needed, up to ½ tsp. If you are in need of assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@HelenOfTroy.com so we can help.
Like I said, the core is heating up (I've used salt and it's working, I think the steam just isn't visible). The problem is that the light isnt turning on. I dont know if it's getting power.

Just bought cause of covid, I added purified water, Tap water, and salt. It has steam but it sounds like gurgling, popping, some what loud is it normal? Like popcorn sound
We will be happy to explain this. This unit requires minerals in the water to function. Mixing in purified water will greatly reduce the concentration of minerals, and the popping and gurgling is the unit attempting to vaporize the water, but not having enough minerals. We would advise emptying the unit out, filling it back up with tap water, then adding a little salt if there is not enough minerals in the water, but not using purified water at all. If you have any other questions or need assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
So I bought one today is it supposed to make a noise? I thought it wasn’t supposed to make any noise? And also is it normal for the white part to be super hot?
Hey Estrella. We can confirm that this vaporizer does make noise while in operation. Also, it is normal for the water tank to get hot when in use. We recommend placing the unit on a firm, level, waterproof, heat-resistant surface at least six inches from the wall, four feet away from bedside, and out of reach of children and pets. We hope this is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
If you are referring to a 1.5 gallon water tank in your vaporizer, you would want to use 6 tablespoons of VapoSteam. Please note, VapoRub should not be used in a vaporizer. For additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to help.
That is a good question. This unit can be run for up to 24 hours. However, this depends on the mineral content of the water and the relative humidity in the air. If you have any other questions, please email us at SocialService@helenoftroy.com.
The unit should not make much noise and it may take up to 15 minutes for you to start seeing the steam. If you are not seeing steam, you may need to add salt to the water. Hello, this is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but you say add one or two pinches of salt at 1:13 , do you happen to know which salt works best: iodized or sea salt?
Hey NeluThat70sKid. Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend using iodized salt which can be found at your local supermarket or department store. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
I’ve only been using this vaporizer a couple of days. Hey, Vicks why is there black debris floating in the water in the morning? I’m using the Vapo pads.
We will be happy to clarify that Batb. The black particles that you see in your vaporizer are normal. These particles are the left over minerals from your water. The reason the minerals turn black is because they have passed through the electrodes and vaporized. As long as the unit is maintained on a daily and weekly basis, you should not experience any problems with its performance. If you have any other questions or need any assistance, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
Mine is steaming like a pot of boiling water would. It looks like a lot and I just wanted to see if this is normal? I have the cough suppressant vaposteam liquid in it and the 2 menthol pads, if that matters. Also, I forgot to mention that when I first started using it, it was hardly steaming to the point where I wasnt sure if it actually was, but you could still smell the vapors. I put salt in it after refilling the water tank and now its steaming a lot, so if this isnt normal, could I have put too much salt?
Thank you for reaching out to us Raevyn. While there should be steam coming out from the unit in a visible stream, it should not billow out. If you feel there is too much steam coming out of the water, we would advise adding less salt to the water (if you add salt), or mixing in some distilled water to reduce the mineral concentration of your tap water (3 parts tap to 1 part distilled is a good place to start).
Hey Samhara. Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm this unit can be used overnight, however, we do advise to carefully supervise the vaporizer when operating, especially near children or pets. The running time for this vaporizer is 18-24 hours. Once the vaporizer runs out of water, we advise unplugging the unit and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before refilling the reservoir. Hey Kara. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. The only thing that can cause this unit to oversteam is an excess of minerals/salt in the water. If there are too many minerals present in the water, you may experience a loud snapping, or crackling, noise and some spurts of hot water coming from the nozzle. This can be corrected by cleaning the unit as outlined in the attached manual. We would recommend emptying and rinsing this unit between uses. Additionally, reducing the amount of salt added to your water or mixing in distilled water can help prevent the unit from oversteaming. For additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

Hello Sheila. Your unit may be the L version, which has a locking mechanism on it. As you pull the central tower out, there is a small wing that will catch on the lip. This has to be threaded through the thin opening in the lip. If you need further assistance with setting up your humidifier, please contact our consumer support line by emailing ConsumerRelations@HelenofTroy.com.

Hey Joe. To confirm, we do not advise to add Vicks VapoRub to the medicine cup or the water when operating this unit. We only recommend using the Vicks VapoPads or Vicks VapoSteam with this vaporizer. We hope this is helpful. If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
We will be happy to assist you Nikia. Please make sure you are using tap water rather than distilled water or water that has been through reverse Osmosis. If you are still getting no steam with regular tap water, we would advise adding in 1/8th a teaspoon of salt, mixing it in the water, then letting the unit run for 15 minutes and you should start seeing steam. Hey SS. This is not what we'd expect from this product. If you still have the product or would like some help finding the right vaporizer for you, please reach out to us directly by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Thank you for your inquiry. To clarify, you may use either the Vicks VapoSteam or the VapoPads with this vaporizer. These are optional accessories. If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hey, Victoria. Thanks for reaching out. Please note, these units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. It sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is high, which may cause this unit to oversteam. We would recommend using partially distilled or filtered water to cut down on the amount of minerals in the water you are using. If you are in need of further assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com so we can help.
Hello Shelly. The Vicks VapoSteam is optional, and you only need to use regular tap water with the unit. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
That is a good question Lupe. We cannot advise using Vicks VapoRub in these humidifiers. We can only advise using the Vicks VapoSteam. If you have any other questions, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com
This is not what we expect from our vaporizers. Please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to look into this and help make it right.
Hey Pew. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. The only thing that can cause this unit to oversteam is an excess of minerals/salt in the water. If there are too many minerals present in the water, you may experience a loud snapping, or crackling, noise and some spurts of hot water coming from the nozzle. This can be corrected by cleaning the unit as outlined in the owner's manual. We would recommend emptying and rinsing this unit between uses. Additionally, reducing the amount of salt added to your water or mixing in distilled water can help prevent the unit from oversteaming. We hope this information is helpful. If you require additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hey Chris. Thank you for your question. To clarify, this Vicks Vaporizer includes a scent pad heater so that you can enjoy Vicks Soothing Menthol vapors to increase your comfort by using the Vicks VapoPads. You also have the choice of using either the Vicks Vaposteam or Kaz Inhalant. Never add anything to the vaporizer that is not recommended by the manufacturer. Adding essential oils or any other non-recommended materials can damage the unit. For additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hello Mieesha. While you can use an air conditioner, this may counter-act the humidifying effects this unit has. If you do so, we advise closely monitoring the humidity closely to make sure using the air conditioner is not invalidating the vaporizer's contributions to your home environment.
Thank you for asking. Yes, you only use 1 tbs of bleach and mix it into 1 gallon of water. Mixed in with the water, the bleach will reach all parts of the vaporizer's interior. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
Hey Jackson. We recommend adding cool water to the water reservoir. If your unit was previously running, we'd recommend allowing the unit to cool down for 20-30 minutes before refilling with cool water. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupporrt@helenoftroy.com.
Hey Itzy. We can confirm this vaporizer does not have an on/off switch. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you require additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hey Jandayln! Yes, however, we can only recommend using Vicks VapoSteam in the water with this vaporizer. Please be sure to follow the instructions in the package for proper use. For additional assistance or a retail listing for where VapoSteam can be purchased, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com so we can help.

@@sarahs7751 It sounds like your water should be fine, (but you should remove the pad from the tank.)
Add a medium pinch of table salt to the tank water. The salt helps a LOT with the function; but don't add too much.
Give the unit a few minutes and see what you get; if needed, you can always add a tiny pinch more. You can add water from that point on, and the original salt will continue to work with the added water.
(You only need to add more salt when you empty the tank completely and are starting from "zero" again.)
If you are all out of pads, put Eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball in the cup on the top. The steam will wet it and the room will fill with that soothing scent. (If nobody's sick, and you still like the humidity, you can add 5 drops of Lavender oil to the cup; It's nice too.

if you do not use distilled water, which almost no one does due to how expensive it would get because you will likely want 1-2 gallons to steam off each day per each unit, then if using tap water you will slowly accumulate scale over the 2 vertical carbon rods under within the closed black cylinder under the blue cap. this is normal due to minerals within your tap water. over time, as you rinse out the transparent 1.5 gallon container, you will find you need a little more salt to keep the same amount of steam after each cleaning. you can clean the carbon rods to require less salt again, almost back to what you needed when the unit was new. to clean the rods, let the unit cool down for 15 minutes, then find then2 small torx head screws at the top of the blue cap and unscrew them, this releases the black closed cylinder under the blue cap and you will see the 2 rods. there will be a gray scale over the black carbon. you probably shouldn’t waste your time cleaning the scale off until the buildup becomes noticeably lumpy . to remove the scale, i wear rubber gloves (the lack carbon rods will slightly stain your fingers otherwise) and use pliers that have a c-shaped mouth and gently squeeze on about 1/4 of the diameter of the rod (so i pinch off the scale) . after some of the scale is punched off and the black carbon core is revealed, it becomes easier to flake off the gray scaling & you can even just start to scrape along the rod to flake the minerals off. rinse the rods & scrape out any
buildup of minerals in the black cylinder & rinse it out. it doesn’t have to be perfect… these units are nicely affordable so plan to replace them every 2-4 years. reassemble. fill container and try it without salt for 15 minutes & add pinches every 5 or soinutes until you get a light to moderate steaming .
FEEL YOUR POWER CABLE to make sure it is not warming - you want it to be room temperature so you don’t risk drawing too much current and risk fire potential in your walls or at the power cord.
if you want a newer perfect cleaning, you can mix a bucket of water and CLR (calcium lime rust product) or vinegar in lue of CLR and soak you largely scraped clean items so the vinegar or CLR loosens off the rest of the scaling. rinse well!

I can hear my unit warming up, will the fan cut in once it gets to a temperature?
Thanks!
The water fill line is not clearly marked and I don't know if mine is not working or just not properly filled.

Hello! Quick question. The light on mine will not turn on and it doesn't seem to be producing any steam (although the core feels like its heating up). I've changed the outlet, so I know that's not the source. Do these have a limit of how long they are functional? I've had this one for about a year. Thanks!
Have you tried the salt trick?
Thanks for contacting us about this. These units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. Vaporizers don't actually heat or boil your water using a heating element. Instead, they use two carbon electrodes that pass electricity between each other. As the minerals pass through this electricity they vaporize the surrounding water into steam.
Mines Is too it's making like a boiling noise
Hi i was wondering if this Can be used over night? And does it have a time limit to be on?
Hey Samhara. Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm this unit can be used overnight, however, we do advise to carefully supervise the vaporizer when operating, especially near children or pets. The running time for this vaporizer is 18-24 hours. Once the vaporizer runs out of water, we advise unplugging the unit and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before refilling the reservoir. We hope this is helpful! For additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
i can never see steam it feels hot but no visable steam at all. and yes i have added salt?
Hey Norman. For additional assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com, so we can help.
I just bought this product and used it for the first time last night. It worked ok but it stopped at 1 am so can i pour out whats inside and refill to use. Also how soon can the product be reused?
As soon as its empty you can refill and use again.
How do i know if is over bowling?
Can it work without the pads or do you need them every time you use it?
Thank you for your inquiry. The Vicks VapoPads are an optional accessory and are not required to operate this vaporizer. If you have further questions or need additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Yo compre este hace 2 dias y en comparación con el otro vicks humidifier este no es tan eficiente....por el precio bajo esta bien....pero definitivamente no lo remiendo.

Can we use this vaporiser for over 2 years old as well?! Because in advertising is like that is suitable for only under 2 years old.!!
There is nothing age specific about this humidifier. It can be used in the presence of people of any age to humidify the air. If you have any other questions, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to help.
Bought one from Target followed instructions plugged it in and it would not turn on... I returned it for another one and the new one won't turn on either. The light is on but the water will not vaporize even with a pinch of salt.
Hello, thanks for your comment.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us by emailing SocialSupport@HelenOfTroy.com. Thank you.
My issue was that no water was getting into the vaporizer. I literally shook it to force water up and it works...
@@haydencook2763 it works. Thank you.
You have to wait a little while for it to start working because the water has to get up in there good.
So you just unplug? There is no off button? I have one but it sparks when unplug.
We apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced with your vaporizer. We'd like to look further into this to help. Please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com for assistance.
Is it suppose to make a boiling noise?
Hey Alondra. These units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. Vaporizers don't actually heat or boil your water using a heating element. Instead, they use two carbon electrodes that pass electricity between each other. As the minerals pass through this electricity they vaporize the surrounding water into steam. It sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is high, which may cause this unit to oversteam. We would recommend using partially distilled or filtered water to cut down on the amount of minerals in the water you are using. If you are in need of additional assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com so we can help.
Is it normal for it to spit out water as well through where the steam comes out?
Hi Kara
I accidentally used somewhat hot water, should I stop it and use cool water?
Hey K. We can only recommend filling the vaporizer with cool water. If you have not started operating you unit yet, we would recommend emptying the hot water, and refill with cool water. We hope this is helpful! For additional assistance, please contact us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Remember to use distilled water !
This is taken from the product website.
Can you add Vapor Pads directly to the water instead of slots?
Thank you for your inquiry. Please be advised, we can't recommend putting Vicks VapoPads directly into the water. If you have further questions or need any additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocailSupport@helenoftroy.com.
If you used mostly purified water, with no medicine & no vicks tab, you are gonna need more than 5 pinches of salt. I kept adding it by 2’s. It took dang near 16 punches for me to even see the steam not even feel it. And you have to wait 20 minutes each addition .Y’all need to come out w/ one without that feature. I was beyond sick . And it’s took me hoursss to set it up . Because I couldn’t tell what the issue was.. very inconvenient.
Thank you for this feedback. Please note, these units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. Hey Brianna. We'd be happy to assist you with your inquiry. Please reach out to our Consumer Relations team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com for assistance. Thank you.

Hi i want to know if i have to buy the Vapo Steam liquid and the pads or if i can use one of them. Thanks
Hey Merari. Thank you for your inquiry. To confirm, the Vicks VapoSteam and Vicks VapoPads are optional accessories and are not required for operation of this vaporizer. You may use one of them if you choose. We hope this is helpful. If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
What’s pads for? I didn’t see them in my store.
Mine has never steamed since day one and I’ve been using it for kids for 2 weeks….
How often should I change the pads
Thank you for your inquiry. The Vicks VapoPads are designed to provide up to 8 hours of comfort per pad. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
If I have no salt ...can I use Adobo seasoning....
We will be happy to provide that information. Please do not use seasonings in the water. The salt is added to increase the mineral content of the water for the electricity to pass through to vaporize the water. Using anything other than salt can damage the vaporizer. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
Can you use the Vicks pads and vap liquid at the same time
Hey Joseph. Thank you for your inquiry. We only recommend using either the VapoPads or VapoSteam, one at a time. We do not advise using both products at the same time. We hope this is helpful! For additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Hi, the arrow to open vicks humidifier is not working i can not open and fill the tank with water , it it is blocked?
Hello Sheila. Your unit may be the L version, which has a locking mechanism on it. As you pull the central tower out, there is a small wing that will catch on the lip. This has to be threaded through the thin opening in the lip. If you need further assistance with setting up your humidifier, please contact our consumer support line by emailing ConsumerRelations@HelenofTroy.com.
How I can avoid the sound of froth? Or the sound of water ?
There is sound of vapour coming out.
Hey Mohamed. We'd be happy to assist you with your inquiry. Please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com, so we can help. Thank you!
Can you put actual Vicks vapor rub in the little vapor area or only use the vicks steam stuff
@@vickshumidifiersthermomete2655 thanks
Mine never even came on. Just the green light no steam.
You can repeat this process up to 1/2 a teaspoon of salt. If you are still not seeing steam or would like some additional assistance, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to help make this right for you.
Just bought one. Tried to use today & it doesn't work. Tried everything that they said to do but nothing works. No night light, no steam. Will be taking back to Walmart. Seems like anything that you use with a plug doesn't work when you buy it from Walmart.
Hey SS. This is not what we'd expect from this product. If you still have the product or would like some help finding the right vaporizer for you, please reach out to us directly by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
is it vapo steam or vapo tabs or both at the same time?
Thank you for your inquiry. To clarify, you may use either the Vicks VapoSteam or the VapoPads with this vaporizer. These are optional accessories. If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Is it supposed to throw some water through the hole inside of the vents slowly while steaming?
Hey, Victoria. Thanks for reaching out. Please note, these units rely entirely on minerals in the water in order to work properly. It sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is high, which may cause this unit to oversteam. We would recommend using partially distilled or filtered water to cut down on the amount of minerals in the water you are using. Do you need to add the vicks stuff?
Hello Shelly. The Vicks VapoSteam is optional, and you only need to use regular tap water with the unit. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Can Vicks ointment be used?
That is a good question Lupe. We cannot advise using Vicks VapoRub in these humidifiers. We can only advise using the Vicks VapoSteam. If you have any other questions, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com
I have this Vaporizer and it's not producing steam even when I add salt. I'm so close to returning it!! 🤦🏾♀️

So o idea to much salt it boiled over so don’t use to much salt

I dont have the liquid can I just add the solid in the pour liquid here alot and will it heat it up?
I think I’ve been doing wrong. I saw a video where-somebody poured the liquid inside the water tank. Is that right?
Hey Mario. We would be happy to assist you with your inquiry. Please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com for assistance.
Can you run the air conditioning unit while using this cause it's so hot in here
Hello Mieesha. While you can use an air conditioner, this may counter-act the humidifying effects this unit has. If you do so, we advise closely monitoring the humidity closely to make sure using the air conditioner is not invalidating the vaporizer's contributions to your home environment.
Only one tbs for the whole container of water?
Thank you for asking. Yes, you only use 1 tbs of bleach and mix it into 1 gallon of water. Mixed in with the water, the bleach will reach all parts of the vaporizer's interior. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
Should I put in hot water or cold or medium
Hey Jackson. We recommend adding cool water to the water reservoir. If your unit was previously running, we'd recommend allowing the unit to cool down for 20-30 minutes before refilling with cool water. We hope this information is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us by emailing SocialSupporrt@helenoftroy.com.
Is there a on/off switch on this, it’s pretty annoying had to plug it out every time
Hey Itzy. We can confirm this vaporizer does not have an on/off switch. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you require additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.
Is it ok if I put some of the vapor medicine inside with the water
Hey Jandayln! Yes, however, we can only recommend using Vicks VapoSteam in the water with this vaporizer. Please be sure to follow the instructions in the package for proper use. For additional assistance or a retail listing for where VapoSteam can be purchased, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com so we can help.
