Echo other comments about your great presentation and valuable to the point info. On this one, I have the exact same issue with my au-717. I'm new at this so, everything makes sense except I cannot see where, exactly, are you connecting the positive prove when measuring the offset?

Scott, if it's stuck in protection and you cannot use the speaker terminals you can attach one probe to ground and the other to either of the bias test points on the top of the amp modules.

@@raygianelli3612 great. Thank u. Im getting 3 volts on both sides so prob not the issue? Adjust below two anyway? I see three components to adjust on each board. Which were u turning?

Never mind. I'm getting .03 volts not 3. :-) Also found service manual that describes VRs to adjust. Thanks

Hey mate. Love your videos. My 717 is not in protection mode but seems to be some poor audio coming from both channel. When moving volume and balance controls and when touching nothing. Any idea where to start? I wish certified tech was an option. All those local are far outside budget and shipping is beyond budget alone. Thanks in advance 👍

"Poor audio". is a kind of generic term. But usually when both channels are affected it points to power supply issues. I'd start by making sure that all the voltages are within spec. Be very careful not to short anything with the meter probes, and as always, anything you do with the covers off can expose dangerous voltages, and you do so at your own risk.

Hy ray how ya doing i have 717 got problem in power supply iam working on when this nice sweet guy come to me not coming out of protection so I check dc offset
And make it to almost 0 by vr 1 and 2 but it was working on power amp not with pre amp only one side at power both so I check 1 channel of tone circuit at preamp out of power now iam working on ragulater transistors of pressure supply

Sherjeel, the switch that separates the preamp from the main is a known troublemaker. Make sure to clean it really well! That may solve your problem.
