    When I firsts heard this guy was in the race, brushed him off as a gimmick candidate. Don't think that any more. He has ideas and is very smart, articulate with genuine appeal as a kind, honest human being. In short, everything that trump isn't. That’s the problem... he’s a charmer.. those are the ones to be aware of... we shouldn’t be looker to a charmer... he makes the focus of his candidacy on his personality not on policy specifics

    • @jackm1091
      @jackm1091 5 років тому +5

      @@jrizaac I'm really not sure how you can reach that conclusion, Jonathon, when it's this early. Wait for the candidates to put out their platforms, to engage in debates, to make substantive statements on their political positions. This early on, we're simply in the "meet-and-greet" phase. I don't believe it's fair to say any candidate is devoid of substance, yet.
      I'm a skeptic and I'll remain skeptical of any candidate, Pete included, but having watched his town hall and other interviews, it's clear to me he's a deliberate, considerate thinker...an intellectual who prides himself on logical decision-making skills and a strong moral compass. Right now, I like him more than any presidential candidate I've ever encountered, (and I've loathed most).
      While it remains to be conclusively seen, he _could_ be the genuine article, the president we've (I've) always wanted: a smart, caring, benevolent, calm, reasoned leader who cares more about America's citizenry than he does himself. If he ultimately reveals himself to be nothing more than a "charmer", so be it; he won't get my vote...but what *IF* he's the real deal? I for one, will remain hopeful and supportive until such time as he gives me demonstrable reasons not to.

      Since when is the CROSS about homosexuality and abortion? Did the LORD make a mistake to you when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for sexual immorality and godlessness, depravity and lawlessness? The Church is people not buildings maybe you need to read the letter to the 7 Churches in the Book of Revelation and see what church you are a part of.

      Jeanne Murray- Which Church are you a part of?
      The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Are you part of the Church that was beheaded by ISIS who was willing to die for their faith rather than deny Jesus Christ? Are you part of the Church in China that is being persecuted like no other beaten thrown in prisons because they will not deny Christ?
      Are you part of the Church that has been ridiculed, weakened, a church that is persecuted by scoffers, and mockers for Standing with Christ and not with the world?
      Maybe try Reading Revelation: 1 The Letter to the 7 Churches and see what Church you have become a part of if you are willing to do what it takes to be in the body of Christ.

      Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not from the Father but from the world.…

I'm usually not a fan of candidates who wear their military service or religion on their sleeve; it always seems so disingenuous and judgemental. But with Mayor Buttigieg, I believe him when he says he wants the best for ALL people. Mayor Buttigieg seems to support progressive values that we on the left can appreciate, yet he's not "unreasonable" enough to isolate voters who tend to be more in the center of the political spectrum.

He actually looked a bit uncomfortable here when he was first asked about his religion, but then went on to speak about his faith in glowing and inclusive terms. That speaks volumes, indicating that, while he does seem to hold some deeply personal beliefs and is a "strong Christian" (whatever that really means), he's much more tolerant and secular than the typical "right-wing nutjob/Evangelical."

    2019, and we still ask candidates "Did you accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior?"

    • @Raineygoodyears
      @Raineygoodyears 5 років тому +2

      Leroy Lowe- Liberals hate Jesus Christ and his followers the only reason to ask candidates that question is to see if they can attract Evangelical Voter's. Most of us the Orthodox Remnant Church recognize Wolves in Sheep' Clothing, so of course they fail.

      @eew12 5 років тому +24

      @@Raineygoodyears Liberals hate Jesus Christ? You need to lay off the bottle. Jesus himself would be a liberal. You think giving to the poor, caring for the sick, and sheltering immigrants is something Jesus would be against? What Bible have YOU been reading?

    • @paulweeldreyer7457
      @paulweeldreyer7457 5 років тому +2

      Jesus definitely cared for the poor, the sick, and the needy. That doesn't mean that the role of a private individual is the same as the State. People on the Left who are uneducated on both gov't and religion assume that directives to the individual are all transferable to the public sector; they are not.

    • @eew12
      @eew12 5 років тому +9

      @@paulweeldreyer7457 Another directive to the individual is to be on your guard against greed. The greedy will not inherit the kingdom of God. Between the directives you mentioned and the one I mentioned, which do you see Donald Trump, the republican, falling under? His "charity" literally used money to purchase a portrait of himself. It's ludicrous that I even have to point these things out to people.

    • @eew12
      @eew12 5 років тому +5

      @@paulweeldreyer7457 Also, I find it interesting that you think "it is the left that assumes that directives to the individual are all transferable to the public sector." What you're describing is the opposite of the separation of church and state. It is very clear that the Christian right wants the dissolution of the separation of church and state. The right very clearly wants Christian public policy(just take abortion for one), so your argument doesn't hold water.

    Mayor of South Bend Indiana should be given a long list of very specific issues and problems that have taken our U. S. "democratic republic" to the brink of collapse, and have him respond to each and every one mentioned on the list with very specific and concrete strategies and actions to deal with each and every one of them --- not the usual "BS" that past U. S. politicians have indulged in during past election campaigns and have got away with it. Why am I saying all this? If you look at recent political quagmires such as the Brexit issue and the current messy situation in the USA and other countries around the world, you might realize that citizens have not been sufficiently knowledgeable and savvy enough when casting their votes or taking sides on the political front.

And NEVER, EVER have I seen such a canditate, neither democrat or republican. So well spoken, and for me honest and not at least so willing and focused on the policies, and questions it selfs, to bring together a nation. Again, it`s not my election. But MAN, I can use all theese things in my own life. Just a thought (or 88....) from Norway :)
