It wasn't really one shot, it cuts every time the camera goes moves very fast, or it cuts every time the camera is very close to something. The director merged the scene and it looks like it's in one take. That's why I like the director.
      Timestamps :

Developer Vaelkarr Dude obviously. That is how long one takes work. Most film cameras can only roll for 7 min max. The skill in camera work come from being able to make it appear as a one take. It’s not like 1917 was filmed in one shot.

This movie may have the most exemplary action scenes in recent memory. Cover is taken, Bullet counts matter, body armor does something and the choreography is still sublimely coordinated.
The points being hit are roughly similar to John Wick but far more chaotic - very fitting for a combat scenario.

Well I only see surprisingly, overly, completely dumb "special forces" that come out of camera without any logical criteria. First one doesnt check room on the left, then the other 2 where in a corner not covering using the angle at all and aiming FORWARD, with a 3rd showing without absolutely doing anything and a 4th one coming f*** melee.
No, its not good at all, I can understand people enjoy it but if movie directors knew a little of how fireguns work things would be very very different.

@@TheeYellowDart Correct. The stoppage happened because the guy Tyler was fighting grabbed onto his Glock and the Glock was unable to chamber a new round when he fired it. After Tyler noticed this he just had to rack the slide back off of his kit. Also, if you count the rounds Tyler fires it is 18. It doesn't look like Tyler is using extended magazines and a Glock 17 holds 17 rounds in the magazine plus 1 more in the chamber if he performed a combat reload. I couldn't tell if he went slide lock after the 18th shot was fired though.

Wow, I finally understand what happened starting 1:34. Bear with me if you want to read some gun nerd talk:
    1. At 1:34, because Chris's gun was discharged while the bad guy was gripping the barrel and slide, there's a good chance Chris's glock suffered some kind of malfunction. In this case, we do see an empty casing getting ejected without the slide locking back when bad guy is gripping Chris's gun. This is likely a failure to feed (FTF) malfunction, meaning the slide was prevented from fully stripping another round from the magazine (tends to happen when something is physically interfering the recoil but fully pushing the slide back).
    2. At 1:35, Chris does a manual inspection to check the status of his gun (you can clearly see him looking at the ejection port). This is because he likely intended to do a double-tap at 1:34 but the gun only went off once, which immediately told him something was wrong.
    3. Upon confirming the slide did not lock back (which would have indicated an empty magazine and need for a emergency reload) nor could he visually confirm a type 3 malfunction (double feed, in which the slide would be partially pulled back revealing two rounds attempting to chamber), he pistol punches the other assailant at 1:36 since his firearm is not operable at that moment.
    4. Now that he's bought himself some time at 1:38, Chris performs a tap-rack drill to return his glock to an operable condition. Since his support hand is preoccupied holding the first assailant, he "taps" the base of his glock against his plate carrier and then at 1:39 uses the glock's rear sight and a spare magazine on his plate carrier as leverage to rack his handgun. This manually strips a round from the magazine inside his handgun to render his glock operable again.
    5. At 1:39 with the glock back in operable condition, bang bang.
Not a maneuver that is ever taught in tactical schools but an excellently filmed scene nonetheless.

*Rush* from 2013 (underrated and excellent movie) & *Bad Times at The El Royale* from 2018, has Chris best performances till date, if I may add from Marvel my favorite scene of Thor is in *Infinity War,* The conversation Thor had with Rocket (on spaceship pod) about some of the people he has lost, when he shed a tear, was a wonderful performance, you could see soo many emotions on his face, it's subtle but soo amazing, because it's at that moment that you really feel his pain.....
But I do think he gave a good performace in this movie (Extraction), it's just that the 2 movies I mention above where more character driven, he had more material to showcase his acting chops.

The shot goes off, but the slide doesn't come back to extract the spent casing and load in a new round. He looks at the gun to help asses the problem. He racks the slide to clear the malfunction. Either way I think this little detail makes this part of the scene even more badass. The entire passage is exceptional. What's enjoyable is that Chris Hemsworth is like a boxer : you can feel his strength. Additionally, the camera is very close to the actors, enhancing this physical impact.
Regarding the debate between John Wick and Extraction,
Firstly, John Wick clearly influenced Extraction thanks to "gun-fu." However, this whole sequence isn't strictly "gun-fu," which typically involves gunfights at a distance. In this sequence, the enemies are close due to the environment pushing them to be close. In John Wick, enemies approach him despite firearms, which might not be very consistent, but in the end, the sequences are highly entertaining.
Secondly, this sequence can be compared to the nunchaku sequence in John Wick 4, where John Wick uses both firearms and close-quarters combat due to the environment pushing them to be close.
As for who is better between John Wick and Extraction.
In terms of action scenes, both are on par. This sequence and the train chase scene in Extraction 2 are among the best action scenes ever made. The John Wick franchise has many iconic action sequences: the knife fight scene in the third film was incredible, the Continental sequence in the fourth was exceptional, the high-angle view sequence in the fourth was also incredible ...
I would say that John Wick's true strength compared to the Extraction films lies in the story.
The John Wick films have a better storyline.
    - The first had the compelling story of John Wick ready to wage war to avenge his dog. - The second had the iconic excommunication scene at the end. Ironically, it might be the best scene in the film despite having incredible action sequences. - The third had a great story with the High Table seeking revenge on John Wick's associates and the final sequence where John Wick and the Bowery King form an alliance.
    - The fourth had the thrilling duel at the end.
John Wick has its own universe and mythology.
Extraction, in my opinion, lacks a very engaging story.

I love the way they do quiet in this movie. Sound tracks are really good for a movie, but I enjoyed the raw sounds of all the movements and gunshots with the absence of music.

0:54 is a cut, 1:05 is a cut, 1:16 is a cut, 1:56 is a cut. I hate when people think a one-shot is filmed in one go. It's not. It's a series of cuts blended together to MAKE one cut, with the breaks disguised by going through doorways or having something cross the camera, blurring turn of the camera etc.

This is what a filmmaking symphony looks like when the director, cinematographer, camera crew, and post editors are firing on all cylinders.
