I never watch the news, so I hadn’t heard any predictions about financial doom. But, I’m really trying to buy better, fewer items that I can wear for a long time instead of lots of cheap, trendy clothes. So, I love videos with styling of extant items, also with incorporating new items into outfits with the older pieces.
I like the shirt-over turtleneck look. We actually started wearing that in the late 70s, when I was just a very young adult. I also like a thinner, breathable turtleneck (silk or rayon) for this look, to keep the bulk down and not overheat. Autumn/winter is great because we can add a lot of interest with layers like this. Layering is practical for me, too, because I tend to overheat every few hours, so thick thick sweaters worn just over a bra don’t work when I need to remove the sweater to cool down. I like wearing a silk tee underneath, so I can remove the sweater for ten minutes, but still be fully dressed.
I adore silk scarves and have been wearing them for 40 years, “on-trend” or not. They’re the classic, feminine accessory and add so many interesting aspects to outfits: individuality/personality, softness, elegance, drape, color and print. I have a big collection (mostly not designer, but all mulberry silk) and wear them a lot, except in high summer. I get compliments on my “outfit” every single time I wear one. They are great for pulling together solid-colored separates in an outfit, too, or softening the harsher look of dark colors next to my too-pale skin. It can take a bit of courage to start wearing them, but they add so much style and a classy look, just try one if you haven’t and hear the compliments flowing in!
I enjoy seeing someone so young with such great style! I live in the United States & it seems that the goal of fashion is to make our young women look like street trash. You create looks fit for royalty! It shows great respect for your body & who you are as a person. Perfect! 🙂
Nailed it!!!!!. My favorite style icon IS Carolina herrera and you captured her style beautifully. I would love a tutorial on wearing capes. I am 5'" 1' and feel they are overwhelming, but would love to wear them. As always. look forward to watching your video along with my latte and croissant on Sunday mornings!!!!!
I invested in a warm Italian wool ruana and I am also short and have found it to be easy to become lost in it. I think wearing it with a brooch is an awesome idea to help keep strategic draping in place ❤ your vids
Yes, Mariana, I agree, more on layering for various looks and seasons would be great. This was a very good segment by the way. Practical and enjoyable.
I just bought a brand new “jenni button” silk shirt from a thrift store. It still has the tags on it, so this video is super useful. Ps. Jenni Button is a South African designer And she makes beautifully tailored clothing in luxury fabrics.
Excellent! I love CH and white shirts. These are beautiful examples. It appears you've added new jewelry to your collection - I was wanting a closer look. Maybe it's time for an updated jewelry video?
Lol I clean the house, wash the dogs and I paint with oils and watercolour 😂 but I probably won’t be scrubbing the floors in a button up shirt. I prefer something stretchy
Loved this one just like the others! And it's great you put the looks into context by referencing iconic designers and looks. For a fashion novice like me, it would be so beneficial and interesting if you could break down and talk about the basics e.g. history of fashion (recent) or types of clothes just like you referred to the oxford and chambray shirt types.. I an learning a lot, thank you!❤
My favorite shirts are the ones with a Korean collar: the other kinds of collar go in and out of style.. But Korean collar is always on point! Pro tip: if you own an old shirt with a weird collar, try to alter it and make it a Korean style collar! You'll have a brand new shirt to wear and you'll love it!
Wow you are singular in your knowledge and panache. You should acquire a fashion label, write a book, etc. It would be a best seller. You remind me of Coco Chanel's French style. Liz Claiborne also comes to mind. Come on as you would say!
It’s unreal how many fashion ideas you give me with each video, Mariana! Also, what brown cardigan are you wearing here please? So fab paired with the necklace 🤩 😍
Hi Nadine! It's actually a knit dress from the brand Intimissimi, but unfortunately it's 10 years old 😝 I don't think it's available anymore, but you can get the same effect by pairing a bold necklace with any cowl neck that's a bit more relaxed and open. Here are a few that might get the job done: M.M. La Fleur top: rstyle.me/+U4fvqjJa4cO4xUQ2V1i7sA Saint + Sofia top: bit.ly/3GvY0K4 Reformation top (not a cowl neck, but has the relaxed neckline that pairs well with the necklace): rstyle.me/+W_WEPaMTNTOe9limfQv8yQ Hope this helps ;)
Love all the looks except the white silk shirt unbuttoned with bustier underneath. This screams trying too hard to look sexy never a good look. Keep up the super videos👍ps: my fav is to wear an oversized mens shirt over a tank top then tied at the waist with half rolled up sleeves. What are some brands of classic white shirts you like Marianna?
Hi Ingrid! I love Lily Silk for silk shirts, Massimo Dutti for linen and poplin ones… Polo Ralph Lauren also makes amazing options for elevated day to day. Ps.: love the styling tip of the men’s shirt 🤩

Great video! I love wearing a broach at the top button of my collar on a chambray shirt. Very elegant alternative to a necklace or scarf.♥️🇨🇦
Oh that sounds fabulous!!
Great video. You’re always so pleasant and upbeat and to the point. You don’t do a lot of rambling which I like.❤

Yes please make a video on styling ponchos and wraps. I just attended a wedding and wish I had one for the evening.
Absolutely 💯 thanks!

Hi Silvana! I did add a few pieces here and there, but I might get a few more just for the sake of the video ☺️
That necklace with the silk shirt is just beautiful!
Excellent video. Thank you

Collar similar to that? 👔
A nairoo collar?
Yes, they are the same (to me)!
