Seriously, perfect timing! I just bought one last week from Seattle orchids. Mature, in spike, free shipping and on sale for $48. The stars aligned and I basically threw my money at them. I really love this bizarre, beautiful orchid!
My husband ordered this big boy for me (and a surprise orchid). Still waiting for their arrival. I keep watching this video to see this beautiful orchid and to listen to the awesome music you used for him. Absolutely fantastic. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. They are are so enjoyable. Your my favorite orchid teacher. I've learned so much so keep up the fantastic work.
Interesting orchid! I just love the Latourias. And, just added some antelope type dens to my collection. Thanks for sharing this beautiful plant with us.
I have the same Orchid and it’s in bloom now..I love him..I like the fragrance..your is more yellowish than mine..more on the green side on the flower..he is e great specimen..I am glad it bloomed for you.
I am in love! 💖 the flowers looks like huge, angry wasps to me and I love it! I'm not enthused by the canes/leaves on the other hand but those flowers would be so worth it! This one's going on my wishlist for sure!
I got this as a gift two years ago, but it died 😭 I’m hoping to get another try at this orchid. I didn’t like the look of the flowers when I saw them online, but in person they’re so gorgeous! Definitely a fave of mine.
Please do an update on this King! I am really curious to know what he's been up to. Ever since I saw this video back in August I knew I just had to have one. Last month i actually stumbled upon this guy at my local nursery. He for sure is my crown jewel in my orchid collection. 🤴😎
I have one Den. And it an Atroviolacae. The Dens that have to go through the dormancy period with no water etc (soft cane) scare me. I'm always tinkering with my orchids which is probably a no - no but I can't see myself not watering a Den. Its beautiful Danny. I love the twisted and wrinkles look of the petals.
Hi Danny, can you please explain exactly what the difference is between a Latouria type and say phalaenopsis or nobile types are? I'm a bit confused as to the what separates it from other dendrobium. i.e. is it just the area they grow, or is it their flowers or pseudobulbs?
Hi Danny. Your spectacular is spectacular !!! Delicate, color and pattern -simply beautiful, the “fallen angel “. 🙈. Are they prone to root rot if submerged in water ??
+Thomas M Well if the root grew in high air environment, yes it is very likely. Also if there is very poor oxygen available to it, yes most definitely. But this is valid for all orchids not just this one :)
MissOrchidGirl I’m thinking semi hydro, with a reservoir part of the roots are likely to be submerge most of the time. Those roots might rot ? Went to my first orchid show ever and got a LC Rojo and saw your vid on it. My first cattelaya. 🙃
+Thomas M I talked about the oxygen levels in the reservoir in my watering in sh videos I think.. So no I don't think they will rot if they grow into it. If they are aerial or close to aerial and potted in the reservoir then yes, they might rot :)
I can't seem to find a german seller who sells them as grown plants. only young ones, which take 2 years to bloom :(... can someone help? it is so beautiful!!
Are you kidding me? I am searching for it for several weeks now and i can't find it anywhere except for seedlings from Schwerter 😭 And now i have to look at this beauty for 14 Minutes 🤤
MissOrchidGirl I just would like to say thanks the buds look very nice o ye I do have phalonopsis orchid with a terminal spike and I have re poted it and it had two flower spikes I cut one and these is 3 kakies just are poking through and one has blankend this was already black when I bort it but should I cut the flower spike at the base of the crown to save the energy for the two kakies remaing or let a spike kaikie emerge . but thanks for repliying it meens a lot :-)
i just got this one as a Better Gro bag. I love how unique the flowers will look.
