umm i disagree, i for one love all their new songs and they could never come out with another new album and it wouldn't change the fact that their amount of talent is unbelievable. you must not have gone to any of their concerts cause i can tell you, your opinion would be a lot different. they're incredible and always will be.
That may be the problem at hand. Rob is an amazing songwriter, just about everything he writes is catchy and deep, but the new songs don't have the qualities that were evident in previous works. Listen to MTYTYA again then pop in Exile and tell me that fulfills 5 years worth of waiting and is a step up. I remember waiting for Mad Season, then waiting again until MTYTYA, and when I put that album in for the first time, it blew my mind, a huge leap forward. That just wasn't the case this time.
OH WOW. I disagree man...This time they ALL took part in writing the songs. Seeing them live and performing the new songs was incredible!!! There's always so much negativity in the world.
I know that even if I went I'd still be disapointed. I have seen Matchbox Twenty live 3 times, once on the Mad Season tour, then twice on the MTYTYA tour. While they were excelent showmen, and I don't doubt that they still are(Rob was great when I saw in solo), that doesn't permit suc a dissapointing change. If you are even the slightest bit of an active listener, you must noticed the changes in the new album, and they aren't those of a band maturing, they are those of selling out.

I'm not saying it was great but its not much less quality than what they sold from the live show. And for a camcorder, it sounds pretty da** good.
Matchbox Twenty has sold out. After years, they release six new songs, each of which fall quite short of the songs on their other albums in both lyric content and instrumentation. They did this because it is easier to write and record crap than to write quality music, especially with an army of ignorant fans who don't even recognize their favorite band's music from a pile of excretion.
