- Another one is done. This time, how to start every world of tanks game: by reading the team list! I'm amazed at the support given to my past tutorial videos, and this topic was a popular request (at least from my fellow DRK members). Hope this is helpful for you all, at least in some way!

So true. The KV-2 is one of the few heavy tanks I still enjoy playing when bottom tier in -2 matchmaking.
And when in a tier 8 HT the KV-2 is one tier 6 tank you can't write off as harmless.

Nice upgrade from the basics video. Definitely something that takes multiple thousands of games to learn how to do, since you naturally start doing this as you go down different lines.
Like "oh I have a T44, I know that T44 turret is super tough but if I position where I can hit his hull I'll destroy him". This video accelerates that process! (especially if you don't pay for premium.... thanks WG for making progression impossible without it)
Finally! The WoT how to video catalogue has needed a video like this for so long. I was even thinking of setting up a channel just to do these type of really in-depth tutorials. Content creators like Lemmingrush et. al. sometimes say stuff like "make sure you check the team list" or "just sidescrape in this situation" but they don't show how to do it, or share the thought proccess. These in-depth tutorials are great, a chance for players to slow it all right down and go through the thought process that happens in a few seconds over several minutes. Great content! More please!

great video very informative, this is one area i kind of lack in ill kinda skim over each team and focus on important tanks on each side like arty, lights and top tier tanks and revolve my play around that. im to slow to think about all that at once lol but none the less i enjoyed the video
dont worry it doesnt matter anyways, most good players dont understand they are only like a few rng low rolls from being a not good player, and checking the list is the least of what matters, reacting to what is going on in your battle is the skill that makes people very good, and just being lucky. think clan wars, where you dunno what tanks they have until they are spotted, so checking the list is pointless imo, in randoms it's fine, or skirms maybe, but i dont think it's actually that important because it's super random in this game, everyone can all go to the right places, and then bounce or miss all their shots for 3 solid mins until they all die OR everyone can go to the wrong places and pen every shot and roll high dmg and kill everyone and skill has nothing to do with that.

Really enjoyed the video. I do check the team list at the start of every battle already and it's good to get a few extra insights in the process. Two main things I noticed is that I don't adequately consider retreat as an option, and secondly we have the same sense of humour (on that point you have my condolences). Will work on both lol
Step 0: install XVM, not to get info about the enemies but to see how stupid your team mates are. If you are spotting for someone in a TD with 300 WN8 after 20k battles, you know that player is not going to shoot anyone.
Also a more general and complex advice: try to use the strenghts of your tank against the weaknesess of enemy tank. Don't try to use the speed of E100, it's strenght is it's armor and gun. Don't try to use the armor of a light tank, it's a weakness, try to use speed/camo/viewrange. And one more: know your role. If you want to snipe in your light tank, fine, but who is going to spot for your team? If you want to scout with your SPG, do you have the viewrange and speed for it? You might, but if you sit still in a bush spotting, who will shoot the enemies?

I know this a necro post but, well said. Too many people are all about going to a certain spot and do a certain thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes you get throttled that way. I am here because I'm trying to learn but I'm doing a lot of this already although I think you are better at it. Like, I try to think ya know? I play Cold War mode but like if I run out with a group in an M46A1 that's tuned up and all that and say we got a heavy, a td an M48 a LT an me and say, the LT goes down. I am now the fastest with the least gun unless the TD is like a Charioteer but he can't be pushing up anyway. Heavy is gonna be slow and probably needs to stay hull down. M48 can swoop in and rescue me slash help me flank. I need to keep those big guns alive, shooting over my shoulder and the TD, if he stays elevated and behind us can probably see the things I can't. Problem is....almost no one plays this way! I love it when other players are playing smart though. It's spectacular! I have been on random teams that were just....awesome. does not happen often. I'm not perfect either. I try to encourage people but people are such dicks in chat it's terrible. My big mistake is I am often too agressive and get in trouble. Excellent video. You are the first person I have seen that actually, actually knows what they are doing! It's refreshing to hear someone not talking about yolos and lemming trains like the last million people. There's more to it than that. My go to when the team is bad is support the heavies. All the other classes are really there for that purpose. Sometimes you'll have like a heavy flank and a medium flank but even then at least two mediums should stay with the heavies. Let them play middle linebacker and you be outside linebacker.
I am glad someone has done a video about this because its something i struggle with..... This is something i really need to work on as i know it would prove to be of great use as well as general Map Awareness and Positioning but all that is to be more focused on once ive finished all Grinds in the game, not that far off from that now :)

Helpful, I think there is an 8.5 step which is telling team what you are doing. A map click is enough most of the time. Also platoon up if not already in one.

Absolutely noticed that after making this video! I tried to fix it with the most recent vid and hope to improve with each one. You’re completely right, though, I definitely have been weak with audio for a while!
Thanks. There is one huge problem for the casual potato like me, however. I either can spend my time to learn about the advantages/disadvantages of the tanks, or I can play the game.
Those are done simultaneously! Playing the game leads to a gradual learning curve. Took me roughly 9k battles to “get good,” if that helps you estimate :)
So far, in my opinion (opinion is like an ass... Everibody got his own right? Lol) this channel is the best to seek advice if you're a new player who wants to improve like myself. Congratulations men! I have a suggestion I would like you to consider, in this type of video tutorial I would love to see the battle itself, understanding your tips on how to read the map and all that stuff and then see how those tactics apply in the battle it self, how you adjust the plan etc etc.. Maybe do one of this videos for each map? That would be awesome! Thanks again men for your work I will be waiting and watching your content and sure will recommend it to new players A.K.A juicy tasty snacks on the battlefield

As someone familiar with the basics of game mechanics, videos like this one and How MOE are calculate allow me to continue improving my gameplay.
Any chance we could get one on positional gameplay at a more micro level, particularly when encountering multiple opponents? Even though every situation is different, some examples or things to consider would be of great value (e.g. working with reload times of tanks, avoiding crossfire, angling against multiple tanks, how\when to disengage from a losing flank etc).

Thank you for the help. I left WOT more than 3 years ago and i remember leaving when there was only USA, Russia and Germany. what would you recommend for someone who is coming back to the game not knowing what tanks gotten better and what gotten worse. Note: i do have my IS-7 so I'm not a beginner but i got no clue the tanks weak spots anymore Since there are so many of them now. I look like an idiot in is7 :D
Yikes there’s definitely a lot to catch up on! Here’s the best advice I can give:
Start from tier 1 again, on a new line, and learn on your way up. As far as which line to try, you may enjoy the Russian mediums to the Obj 430U. It’s a consistently good line, and the tier 10 is easy to play. After you make your way up that line, you should be on your way to getting used to the game again! There’s of course many different lines you could try, the Obj 430U just so happens to be a Russian line that is new player-friendly. Hope that helps.

Hey! I can make a video on marks of excellence (stripes) and basic tips on how to get them, but I don't think I can go into specifics for the Strv itself, at least not anytime soon. But the stripes overall, for sure! I'll add that to my list.

I’m assuming you mean combat officer stuff? I’m working on the combat officer video right now. Currently done with the script, now on to editing. Unfortunately, the videos take a while haha.

I am playing on a mac. How do you get the displays your showing in your lower left and right sides.
Are you referring to my health and minimap? Those should appear by default, the only reason I can think that they would not be appearing is if you had selected the “m” key previously, simply press “m” again and the minimap should appear. Those are the only displays I can assume you are talking about, let me know if it’s something else.
@@Indoorwinner I only get the map on the left side and it doesn't look anything like yours. I get no circle either. I play off the server for I don't have the HD space to install the game. Could that be the reason?
@@1stFlyingeagle I honestly have no idea how what you’re describing is possible, particularly if you’re still playing a pc version of the game. Are you sure you’re playing the pc version and not WoT blitz or some other console emulator?

@@Indoorwinner I am playing off the server. WOT. I don't have the HD space to install the wot prg. What exactly are you playing. WOT? I am playing on a MacBook.
@@1stFlyingeagle There are several different platforms for WoT, meaning World of Tanks. The version I play and make videos about is World of Tanks for the pc, which would show up as a WoT.exe file. There’s WoT Blitz, designed for mobile devices but can be used on computers, such as a Mac. There’s finally different games for the console, such as Xbox.
I assume you are using something besides the pc version, as what you are describing sounds incredibly different to the typical default game setup of pc. Sorry I can’t help more than that :/
I have no way to implement any of this. I don't even know what my playstyle is. I suppose a big part of the problem is that I'll usually only paly 2 or 3 battles in a night. Then go a month without playing. It's hard to get too into it when you suck.
I made this video because a lot of people were requesting a slightly more advanced tutorial than the ones I’ve made before. If you’re interested, I have 2 videos on my channel for beginner tips and tricks that may help you out.
But yes, you’re right, it’s very difficult to get into this game, and the only real way to improve is to get experience. Unfortunately, this is a game that takes a bit of time.
I advise you to pick a single tank you’re quite good at and learn everything you can about that one tank. Look up some videos on it and figure out how you like to play it. Once you’ve mastered one, then you can move on to another. The more you get down the faster the game will become easy.

"Step one, check the tanks list, step two, ignore all that because once the battle starts everyone goes where they want and die within 3 mins and your gonna be by your fucking self anyways so just lurk around trying to get a few shots off before you die" good video , none of that stuff matters in any of my battles tho, top tier is the worst, you go where you need to be, no one will go with you, or they suck and just die without helping you in any measurable way, friendly arty will never support you, when they do, they wiff all their shots or hit you instead and fuck up your reload and acc with a stun, enemy arty on the other hand, will focus you most of the battle and you'll never reload your gun cuz it's broken and half your crew is dead. plan on doing 3500 dmg and then watching the shitstains that are left blow it all being muppets, thats how most of my battles go when i'm top tier, i have much less rage when i'm in the middle tier or same one
Yeah I’m pretty sure we’ve all had that outlook on the game at some point. My advice is this: Always plan around the worst scenario. Expect teammates to position poorly by default and don’t anticipate friendly support on a specified location.
If you’re always playing for the worst scenario, you’ll both never be disappointed and have the opportunity to last longer, as you can play off of what your team does instead of hoping for them to play off what you do.
