Cannot express how much I love your analysis videos on the traditions behind Fatal Frame. I don’t think I’ve been able to learn so much about Shinto and Buddhist practices in Japan anywhere else.
You've secured my subscription with this one, just a very interesting history and easter mythology class. Was honestly surprised that you dont have more supporters from the quality of the vid tbh.
Japan has such unique and interesting culture and religion, and seeing your analysis on Fatal Frame's rituals. How much it delivers so much they adapted into a horror game, really shows the amount research and inspiration they've taken to make this.
Fatal Frame is by far my favorite horror game of all time. The only one that was truly scary to me. I played it when it first came out and absolutely loved it. I'll never forget the time I got stuck, but couldn't bring myself to go back into the doll room to search. 😂 I still have my copies of the games and cherish them. I have since learned a lot more about the Japanese culture and eventually the language as well. Whenever I read about Japanese legends, Fatal Frame pops into mind because it's so heavily laden with myths and legends.
Thank you for all the context. I played this game when it first came out and i still can't bring myself to play it again because it scared the heck out of me. But i was always interested in the symbolism that must've been lost in translation from Japanese to English. All of the "whys" i had while playing. The lack of deep understanding added to the horror. Having answers to the "whys" makes the horror deeper than i could have imagined.
oh my god, another FF1 video? i didn't know this was gonna end up being a series, it's probably my favorite thing on this channel since the KCET documentaries. well, all the game development documentaries you've done are seriously goated, but i almost forgot this was like a lore channel back in the day. anyway each FF1 video builds off the previous entries so nicely, it feels rewarding to correctly predict what you might say next! when it's all wrapped up this would make for a badass book (e-book? idk if you do printed materials anymore). cheers

There's a few channels I can recommend, like Gaijin Goombah

And people say video games don't teach you anything...
right? xD
Fascinating.

@@thegamingmuseyou’re welcome. Your videos are far more better of telling the many aspects of these games than avalanche reviews in my opinion!
Always love your analysis with these games and the information from the practices.
