Bob, geat recap of the first part of the site. I visited the site in 2004 and was able to climb many of the temples. The view from the top of the Castillo is breath taking, but you are right you had to be very careful on the steps. When we were there they had leather balls you could try to throw thru the holes on the ball court and that was hard, doing it with your feet would be almost impossible.
