- Prince Harry is the center of controversy after ESPN named him as the recipient of the Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year’s upcoming ESPY Awards. The Duke of Sussex was chosen to receive the honor for his work with the Invictus Games Foundation. However, the mother of the man who the award is named after, Mary Tillman, has spoken out against the decision. “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” she told Daily Mail. ESPN responded to the criticism in a statement saying in part, “While we understand not everyone will agree with all honorees selected for any award, the Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work, and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating.”

Harry has collected enough Participation Awards in the US to self promote for his money making deals. At the very least, the Award should go to an American. ESPN also gave the middle finger to Pat Tillman’s mother. Do better ESPN. Greed over morals is not a good look.

“Seeking asylum” is not “the law of the land.” It is permissible on a discretionary basis. We are not the world’s doormat, and we determine who gets to enter the country and stay in it. The bureaucracy has gotten in the way of this process, but with the supreme court’s recent ruling against chevron, the unchecked, unjustifiable “authority” they have enjoyed for the past four decades is going away.

If this had been several years ago, I would have agreed with Harry receiving the award. In the beginning, he was deeply involved in every level of the games and with the athletes. But since his withdrawal from the majority of his other duties, the games have also had a major lack of involvement on his part, so at this point, it doesn't seem appropriate.

I also don't know who does research for Access Hollywood, but Harry did not start the Invictus games. The Royal foundation and million-dollar donations from William and Catherine started the games, along with Harry, but because Harry was let out of the army, they allowed Harry to be the patron of the Invictus games.
If anybody has watched the Invictus games or anything to do with the Invictus games, it has become the Meghan and Harry show, and has little to do with the athletes.

Please listen to Pat Tillmans mother, Harry did not start the games it was a joint initiative with Prince William and Princess Catherine who have both stepped back to allow the games to be Harry’s project unfortunately his wife Megan has come on board and they now use it to promote themselves at the expense of the veterans.
