People take this out of context, it is about David's girlfriend dying and satan trying to get him to take his own life. This is not satanic,this is music that not everyone will like, but I do.

If you listen to Disturbed songs and realize that the entire time and most songs from the very beginning feature two singers. David, and the Demon he carries. You can hear the difference in his voice when the demon takes over, this is one of the songs where he's given over almost entirely to the demon within (close to killing himself) so his voice always has a tinge of the demon.
People who think this is satanic rather than a comment on the duality of men just haven't listened to enough Disturbed.
Rubbish, Disturbed is my favorite band and there's nothing satanic or demonic about it.
Around 10 years ago, I saw Disturbed in Concert with my Bestfriend. We had a private lounger. It was HELL of a Concert, Disturbed was really one of the bands I can enjoy live (they gave a great show and the live vocal were similar to the CD). My bestfriend committed suicide 7 years ago. We both loved this song.This song is about suicide and I just found that today.
Wow may she rest in peace. A lot of people struggle to find meaning in life and don't think it's worth fighting through the real struggles that life presents itself in varying ways.. I can understand that. So sad..

For anyone wondering, the lead singer actually admits to the reasons for this song a while back in the actual music video:
His girlfriend had actually committed suicide some time before the song was first written. In a particularly vivid dream he had been approached by a demonic being (possibly Satan) whom offered him a choice. He could be with his love again, all he needed to do was take his own life and this being promised he would be again with her forever.

the song is "a real racy song... about me standing over the body of my
girlfriend, who just killed herself, and the Devil is standing over me,
whispering in my ear to kill myself."
Commenting further for The Pulse of Radio, Draiman stated, "it is
based on a true story of my own where, when I was about 16 or so, I had a
girlfriend of mine commit suicide," he said. "It was an unbelievably
horrific and painful experience, and it was cathartic to make the song,
and it really took me having a certain mindset to do it, and I had to
wait 'til I was ready."
The Guitarist Dan Donegan backs this story a different interview with Artist Direct saying, I quote:
"It's a really dark vision and the song, the lyrics and the meaning, is
very dark. It's the darkest stuff that I think David (singer David
Draiman) has ever written lyrically. It's about a girl he was in a
relationship with. She's committed suicide, and he just has the voice of
the devil over his shoulder trying to provoke him to take his own life
to join her again, because the only chance for him to be with her again
is if he takes his life. We're not condoning suicide off of this, it's
just more of the temptation to join a girlfriend that was very confused
and messed up and wanted out."
Edit: The song is definitely about suicide, Draiman mentions it having a 'serious impact in his life' IIRC in the actual music video, and urges others whom are having such dark thoughts to seek help.

Ironic that my once favorite song would find its back to me after my close friend/girl friend took her own life. People often say "time heals everything" but I'm not so sure anymore. It's been years and every time I sit down to remember it still feels like the first time I got the news.
Time doesn't heal all wounds. You just learn to live with the pain. That said, I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what that's like...

But one must take in solace that the ones we love and lost to such a tragedy like suicide wouldn't want to keep hanging on to this pain forever. They would want us to live with it, but persevere and keep living for them. They would want us to remain happy and live life to the fullest. Plus, they aren't gone. The ones we love are still with us in our hearts and memories we share with them.
I can relate to how true this song is alongside Gone Away by both the Offspring and Five Finger Death Punch, cover wise, as I too suffered a loss. My Dad died last year from a self inflicted gunshot wound and it knocked me down hard. He was not in his right mind the day he took his life as he had bipolar disorder and was trying to ride off a strain of Covid 19 he got last April, two months before he died. Not to mention Leukemia he was keeping in remission and COPD.
It hurt worse that I was there and trying my damnest to talk him out of using his gun on himself. I may have been scared that he would have tried to take me and Mom with him since we were both there when he took his own life. I did everything I could, but the inevitable happened. I lost my Dad that day and it was a great loss to my family and all the friends my Dad.
Thankfully, time marches on and we've tried to move on from the tragedy. As for how, we just do what my Dad would have wanted: to keep living and be there for another. My Dad may not be here anymore, but he's still here in spirit and watching over everyone he loves from above. So while it may be difficult to live with the pain, just know that you don't have to do it alone. Find friends who can understand and relate to where you're coming from with losing a loved one to suicide. Find people who can help make the pain grow duller until you're able to live life to how you want to live.

this is my favorite band of all time and the first metal band i listened to. they got me into metal and im always so grateful for that. i often go and explore some other cool bands for awhile but when i come back and listen to disturbed i just feel at home. they will always be my favorite band and i pray they get off of hiatus and start making they're amazing music again soon.

I'm 51 years old, so I know where it came from. It all started with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, and I listened to them all the time growing up. Disturbed,, IMO is one of the best bands going today and they fit in nicely with the music evolution that started with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin many years ago. I really like their music.
