Lots of interesting books. And I'm always happy to see the swoon-worthy David Murphy 🙂
EYES ON THE PRIZE, you!
Always a joy to watch you and David talk books.
I also have that portable Harlem renaissance reader! I intend to read it this summer
The Potato Peeler Guernsey book is such an effective 'feel good' book. Nice to have
Hello RyanLisbon, or should I say Bateman 😉
@@markusrobinson9081 we are one in the Paul
If he's going to keep hanging around he might as well wash the dishes and mow the lawn...
Hah! Don't tempt him! He's the only guest I've ever had who consider those kinds of chores a treat!
I have the Clive James collection. His piece on Barry Humphries is excellent.
I'm so happy to see you both having so much fun! Wonderful book hauls. I'm glad that you have had such a lovely visit. I'm excited, too, that you picked up an Amanda Cross mystery, Steve. See comment from Hannah below and my addition to it. We both have been reading her since the 1980's. One of my favorites!
I read and loved all the Amanda Cross novels back in the 1980s and early 1990s. Kate Fansler is a fascinating character (although the amount she smokes is stunning). I assume you know that Cross was the pen name of literary scholar Carolyn Heilbrun?
I did too, Hannah. I've recently bought them all again through used books stores. I adored her!
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Ooh! I really should read them again soon!
@@HannahsBooks I was going to reread them all in order, and I started to, but then I got distracted by some other event (or ten!😂) that I was involved in. But I really do want to revisit them.
I thought the book was thoroughly excellent - even though I never did give me a James Joyce murder scene, gory or otherwise
@@saintdonoghue I thought you might be a little disappointed that it wasn’t really about the murder of Joyce. 😉
Love your book hauls❤
Try using a soft-pencil eraser on gum residue before a solvent or IPA, especially on matte jackets. Another cleaner that is effective is any aerosol furniture polish - careful use of a more caustic cream cleaner like 'JIF' can be good for laminated jackets.

My history teacher in high school was on the uss indianapolis that delivered parts of the bombs. He often spoke about it
And the horrific sinking of the ship in class. I just bought Clifford dowdy’s biography in Lee. I have 2 of the Lee’s lieutenants and an abridged book of all 3 together but I am on the hunt for the third volume I don’t have.
Is David Murphy morphing into Oswald Mosley? It must be all those Hitler / WW2 books!
do u guys actually read these books your just collect them?
I think it's pretty obvious from this video that neither one of us reads at all. Good catch!
@@saintdonoghue either way, as long as you're having fun!
@@darillus1 Yes indeed, "either way" - because in this video it really could go either way. Who knows if we read at all?
