- As the day started wet and gradually got drier, so Storm Nelson kicked in and made a brisk wind, extremely savage. On top of that after the railtour arrived, and the empties went to Fratton, A 12 car 450 went bang, pop, as it entered platform one, blocking the line to the harbour for about 3 hours. So we have class 47s, D1935 and 47828 with the Royal Statesman Tour, plus lots of other units of classes 158, 377, 444 and 450.

Enjoy.
I saw this, it was delayed on the return journey by an hour due to a power failure to the third rail at Portsmouth & Southsea. Both platforms 1 and 2 were blocked by 444s and 450s, so it had to wait until it was all cleared before being able to pick up its passengers from Portsmouth Harbour
That's almost right, all lines were blocked, however the railtour never went back to the Harbour to pick up it's passengers, they were bussed to Portsmouth & Southsea and they joined toy railtour there. The platform got rather crowded. Strangely, the broken down 450s were able to move and left for the depot immediately behind the railtour. If they had moved it a tad earlier the 47s could have run back to the harbour. Thanks for your comment.
Ah ok, I didn't realise that was the case as I saw it leaving Fratton before going home
No problem. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope you enjoyed seeing them, and, my video.
Beatiuful video, greetings 🚂👍👋
Thank you for your great comment. I am pleased that you enjoyed it. Also, greetings to you also. 😀👍👍👍
Great video 👍🏻 lovely captures of the 47s too. Two 47 tours to Portsmouth in a month, hopefully many more in the future.
Thanks, we've done well this month in Portsmouth. It was an interesting day, the weather played a part, as did a class 450 going bang halfway along the platform as it was pulling in. It sat there dead for about 3 hours blocking the line to Portsmouth Harbour, all power to the 3rd rail in both directions was cut for a while too. The power to low level seemed to be unaffected. I am glad that you liked the video.
Great shots all round John with some great shots of the 47s all the best 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🚆🚅 Rory
Thanks Rory, it was a chaotic day, first the rain, then the wind and a broken down 12 car 450 which caused absolute bedlam. That's what makes this a great hobby.
John - there's a railtour tomorrow (Saturday 30 March ) from Poole to Canterbury West and return, Saphos trains, diesel hauled to Southall then 46100 Royal Scot . Departs Poole, 05:53, Bournemouth 06:04, Brockenhurst 06:27, Southampton 06:47, Eastleigh 07:01
Cheers, I didn't know about that. Do you know the return timings for this train by any chance?
Great video 👍
