Without a doubt! There's no wonder that the Dornier twin turbo-props have earned a well-deserved reputation in the aviation industry, and we just love them!
Interesting video. I have followed a number of these airplanes and I have always loved the Dornier Seastar. A couple of airplanes to consider for any future videos. The Shin Meiwa US-2 is an outstanding aircraft that has been around in earlier versions (US-1) since the 1970s. It deserves to be on your list. There are also a number of Russian designs that aren’t on here. Examples are the Borey LSA and LA-8 amphibians as well as the SeaBear amphibious flying boat. I am still waiting for the final design that Burt Routan is working on and I hope to see it soon. Don’t forget the various Beriev amphibians which is a Ukrainian company. In particular, I like the Be-103 and the Be-200. Thanks for the video and I look forward to your next one.

The Beriev Design Bureau has nothing to do with the so-called "Ukraine". This Soviet design bureau was established in 1934 in Taganrog - in the Rostov region, and is still located there.
@@SovietWarryor thank you for correcting me. apparently i was confused as to the exact location of Taganrog and which side of the border the city is on.

You are absolutely right! The US-2 has also been widely recognized for its ability to operate in challenging environments, such as remote areas, disaster zones, and maritime operations because of its enhanced STOL performance. Thank you for bringing well-deserved attention to the ShinMaywa US-2!
That Lisa was cool 😎. It must land on the snow using those little foils too. I'll have to check it out. Wouldn't be much suspension though ... maybe it uses wheels on snow ???
Thank you for bringing attention to the Beriev aircraft, and we encourage further exploration or suggestions of other impressive amphibious brands and aircraft models.
I Also Like the Avic Jiaolong for its Passenger Capacity and the Distance Limit. The Price Mention did not seem too Extreme for what it Provides and for the Remote Areas that it can Access on Land and Water.
I like the plane you cite as your # 1 choice. I’d like an option of tripling the engine horse power in a 4 place sports model perhaps converting to turbo prop engines with high altitude lake performance and climb rates for 7,000 to 20,000 foot above sea level short distance takeoffs. Also would like built in wingtop solar panels for camp outs able to charge up all the electronic junk we try to escape from, but always need to keep with us. 4 200 pound adults, 1 hunting door, and able to carry camping equipment and two weeks supply of drinking water and food. More than happy to give up passenger capacity for good performance and good range in the sports model. And an emergency zero-zero parachute system for the fully loaded aircraft. Also willing to give up 50 mph of cruse speed for all this stuff. It should also be able to handle hard landing and g-forces without the wings and engines over stressed and falling off. Would like state of the art Garmin panels pilot, copilot, and back seat panels for back seat drivers and back seat seat kids entertainment center.
I think that’s an excellent configuration for an end of the world scenario! Seaplanes indeed offer a lot of possibilities. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate these kinds of comments.
Forget the chute - twin engine. Don't carry bulk water. Get it from your lake or instal desal - still less weight than unstable water! Need small quad to fit in hunting door. Definitely turbo props, climb rate of 4,000 is ambitious but cool, pressurised naturally, with 31,000 ceiling and even longer range. Nice quiet little gen set. Under wing points for attaching hammocks, slide out camp kitchen, external heated shower and an auto inflatable floating air dock. Oh, built in rod holders and stubby holders around the plane ... obviously!
The Lake Buccaneer is a classic! There's something timeless about its unique design for a seaplane. Have you had the chance to fly in one, or is it on your aviation bucket list?
Designed in Germany by German 'Dornier'. Financial troubles, lots of would be backers ended up majority owned by Chinese company but still ended up being built in Germany. Chinese partner is/has building a manufacturing plant in China too so not sure where they will end up being manufactured in the future. It only got certification a couple of years ago I think 🤔 My bet is they will all be made in China once the factory is completed. 🤷🏻♂️
It's fascinating to see how the Dornier Seastar pays homage to the Dornier Do J Wal and continues the tradition of amphibious aircraft from the Dornier lineage.
I think the Dornier can make it from L.A. to Hawaii - just barely. And hey if you have unfavourable head winds you can still land pretty damn close to the island and radio for some extra gas 😅
