I think that this movie has the merit of having shown how sometimes queer love can be idealized. Sophie's father seems to have preferred Ruby over Gordon not just because Ruby did everything to appear as lovable as possible, but because he basically idealized the love between his daughter and another woman.
Ugh.. i wanted it to have a gay ending.. but then they really made Ruby an unredeemable character.. they could have at least made her more personable and less evil if they won't be having a gay ending..😕
