Hey, dude, you did a super job on this video. Everything from the silly sound effects to the clear and progressive way you taught this is all top notch!
I saw Shane Watts doing this in 2002(?) in an off-road race at Washougal on a trail bike (200EXC) and absolutely decimating everyone. I had seen every pro from practice - race day, every year for like 8 years at Nationals, and nobody ever got as flat and low like Shane. I tried to point it out to anyone who’d listen 🤣 In my mind, Watts was the person who invented it.
Thats a huge difference from what Donnie & the guys in the 90s did compared to the bubba scrub. Cutting the bike into a mini whip vs the bubba scrub. Its like judging a NBA dunk contest and having only one guy actually dunk. While the other 6 contenders only do layup's. The points dont add up lol. Which that would be very interesting and funny to watch someone try to win a dunk contest with only doing layup's.... Yeah the motion looks the same but the execution is what matters. But thats the definition of JS7 tho, greatest man to ever touch a dirt bike.
Nice shot of Jo Jo. That was probably a photo by Paul Buckley. Looks like the top of camel hump at Southwick MX338. That move was called the old cross up. Basically a whip.
First time the scrub caught my eye I’d have to say was 1994 Robbie Reynard coming thru the pack at Millville on a kx125. He had the flow going and He was scrubbing hard
Brett Guysi it’s Pretty easy if your suspension is set up correctly, just have some confidence and if it bucks you loosen the compression on the rear, or increase front
Thanks Johnny. Great videos. I enjoy watching them and hearing your opinions. Other videos that would be cool is a wheelie video and maybe a video about how to service your bike after a race. Kind of like your your race prep video. From bike wash to oil change, filter clean, and what to check after a race to see what might need to be adjusted or replaced.
Have you done a whip tutorial? I couldn't find one that you did yet? My goal for the rest of my riding time is to learn to whip well. I've been racing for 24 years. I was able to do it about 23 years ago on an 80cc but in the bigger bikes it seems a bit more scary.
What about the landing? Why there is no one tutotorial that tech how to land during a scrubbed jump, when the most of the crashes in this case are right there on the landing

Donnie Hansen taught scrubbing (staying low over jumps) in a motocross class I attended in 1991.
Hands down, the best tutorial on how to scrub. Hopper, you’ve got a talent for teaching.
I have used the BMX example on absorbing a jump for years ,that’s where I started, I’ve never heard anybody else use this example. 😮
Skateboarders use the same technique.
I enjoyed the pre-scrub exercise of soaking it up, and the explanation differentiating a whip from a scrub.
Really useful video. I'd like to see the next / intermediate stage for scrubbing and whipping would be great too. Keep them coming, thanks!

Thank you so much I plan on doing this next time I’m at the track
miss your tutorial vids JFH …we need more! 🙏
How about a seat bounce video without getting bucked over the bars? Took me a while to figure it out on my own. What's your opinion?

I have the footage shot just need to edit.

This tutorial was actually very helpful I want to get better at scrubbing 🤙🏽
nerd
I grew up riding in the early 80s, we would call it a cross up.
jojo keller he was the first in the late 70's early 80's
The only thing that Bubba is scrubbin now is his pearly whites (hopefully)

Totally cool giving props. Thanks JH, @asonenow
ok so how you bring it back?
SOWA with your hips
Who dislikes these videos??? They are great
JoJo Keller!!!!!
this is freaking so unnatural move I doubt I'll ever do it. You don' tell though how to get bike straight again before landing.
These are beginner lessons not goon lessons 🤣
yz125eme no need for hate.
He is right. Wild one you stand straight up and the bike with straighten out
yz125eme of course you would know this!🤣
