Awesome thought-provoking subject & video. I could write a novel here... but I'll try for a book report recap. Why I ride today is completely different than in the past. First bike at 15 yrs old, my Dad bought me a Honda 175, it wasn't pretty, it wasn't fast, but it was mine, it was fun, I loved it, and I loved to ride. Fast forward to early 2013, lost my wife, all dreams and visions of the future...poof...gone!! Had a Honda VTX at the time. The last ride on it was in the fall of 2012. I just had no interest in it, or in much else. It sat in the garage collecting dust until the COVID pause of 2020. I had no plans to retire, as I still didn't have a clue about the future. Started watching a bunch of riding and camping videos during the covid pause... and the bug finally hit me, to ride again, to camp again. Got the old VTX running, started riding again, and started dreaming of the future again, to ride to anywhere and everywhere I've never been, to see things I've never seen... and then retirement planning became a reality. What I didn't see coming, or even thought of, was the connections to the riding community, and the motovlogging community that were ahead of me and the future friendships that were also ahead, and I especially didn't see a UA-cam channel in my future, when the riding and camping "lights" came back on in 2020. I'm now retired (2 months ago), I've made friends all over this continent, and I now ride, because I'm so grateful that I still can ride, as there are so many places yet to see, and so many people yet to meet, and it's just so much more enjoyable and satisfying to ride than it is to drive, for basically the same reasons you described. 👊😎👍
Great thoughts @SpyderWayne and great point too - our reasons for riding definitely change over time don't they. Thanks for sharing. And hey I love your videos! I encourage everyone to check out @SpyderWayne 's channel! Ride safe.
@@RideBlessed If you were planning to attend the 2024 Spyders in the Ozarks in Sept (now cancelled), it would have been a pleasure to meet you. That meetup was on my list for this year. I hope our paths cross at some point 😁👍
I've been riding since I was 10 years old(55 now). I'm always excited when I get to ride. I don't feel that same feeling in a truck or car. It was even enjoyable leaving at 5:15 AM this morning for work 😂.
I never thought I would own a motorcycle. I had never ridden a motorcycle. But, in 2018, my best friend bought himself a Spyder RT Limited and started telling me about his experience. It intrigued me and fascinated me atthe same time. Fast forward three years, yes three years, I had done all the researching one could do about the Spyder and discovered many wonderful UA-cam channels. Then one day in August 2021, I found the right CanAm dealership and ordered a 2022 RT Sea-to-Sky without even having my 3-wheel license. When I took my course in September, I just knew it was the right decision for me. To this day, I still cannot put into words the feeling I had in May 2022 when I left the dealership with my new Spyder. Since then, every time I ride, it's that same feeling. Whether you call it wind therapy, Spyder therapy (thank you John & Miriam), staying in the yellow (thank you Adventures of fearless faith), you are right when you call it "being in the moment"; my whole being is in the here and now. I love to drive but riding my Spyder is a completely different sensation and experience. Cheers!
Man! I loved this... And I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "being plugged in" to where you are in that moment. I think that's what I really love about riding the open road. It takes me away from all the distractions of doing life with both feet on the ground, to rolling on three, taking in all that God has created. And the fact that I get to do it with my husband is a tremendous blessing. Not to mention we ride with an awesome. They love to travel, share their knowledge, and see you grow as a rider on the open road.
Sounds good always enjoy watching your videos. Practice is fun and doing things with others makes us special in the eyes of others. Keep being yourself.😊

@@SpyderWayne what, canceled? No! That was going to be my first Spyder event 😣
@@RideBlessed Jody (Purple On Three) was notified, on Facebook I think, that it was just cancelled a few days ago, due to Lamont's health.
@@SpyderWayne okay. Praying for his health. Thanks

Yeah LOL, I went out for breakfast this morning with a men's group, and the ride there was about 34 degrees. But I enjoyed it anyway ! Ride safe.
I concur 100% with your feeling about riding.
