Hearing Joe say that at one point he thought he was a loser / failure makes me feel better about the situation I am in rn, where I pretty much feel the same. My dad recently died from Covid, he was 40. He was the only parent that cared about the things I was interested in in, we got along really well, and now that he's gone I just feel alone, I am really isolative and super insecure and anxious all the time. I hope I can find something that'll give me confidence and the feeling of self worth.
Edit: Did not expect all of the support, thanks a lot guys
Edit: I have read most of these comments, and I am genuinely thankful for all of the support you have all given me. I will take all of it to heart, now it's time to fix things that need fixing. Still, wow. Thank you all, really.

I agree completely I just don’t understand his position on interviewing Donald Trump. I feel like Joe would be fair enough to see the real Trump but yet ask questions that we all would like to hear more about what the questions need to be asked by somebody that’s not looking to do the I gotcha type interview but be fair about it and I also wish Joe would have an open mind enough to actually hear him out. I myself think Trump is probably the greatest president we ever had but I’m willing to listen to questions that Joe has about him obviously Joe doesn’t feel that way and I respect his opinion a lot you can tell joe carefully considers all avenues and I wonder truly why he dislikes him so much

You can always get better - my mother died at 98. Just before she died, she said she had finally understood The Brothers Karamazov. She had at 80 started to learn Russian in order to understand Dostoyevsky’s subtlety. This woman had to leave school at 12 to help run the family farm. She accepted what life threw at her (including life-long chronic pain) and laughed in the face of adversity and taught us, her kids, to do so as well.

@@abrahamsmith9807 Joe Rogan is a genuinely ignorant man - by his own admission as well. His podcast guests are basically for the most part a long list of either comedians or MMA guys or more often opinionated millionaire grifters (often alt-right types) who happen to fall into his podcast orbit. (Not all his guests - he's had some genuinely great people on as well.)
His podcast is entertainment, but talking to these various massive egos about various pseudo-science and social science subjects has given him a platform where he can amplify some very dubious ideas, (eg supplements and stem cell therapy is a common topic as well as vaccines and the origins of COVID-19).
Like I said he often acknowledges his own intellectual limitations and lack of education, unfortunately he doesn't have the antenna to realise when he's engaging with an idea from one of his guests that is actually very fringe and has very little scientific credibility even though his guest apparently has some dodgy phd to their name.

Lex after watching your podcast for sometime it has really taught me that being cynical and arrogant is not the same thing as being smart. I spent a lot of time having ppl in academic spaces validate my ideas because I was just repeating the same stuff I heard. Your podcast really allowed me to be humble and curious. Travel safely and thanks for the cool authentic work you do.✨

I've just discovered Lex's podcasts by accident and I am quite astounded by how good they are. At first I wasn't sure about him and didn't understand what he was doing, or saying, as he was so unlike any other podcaster I'd ever encountered. But the quality of his thinking and curiosity was so high, that I became hooked. He has a rare combination of genuine intelligence, cultural awareness and generosity that makes him the ideal interviewer. I also love the fact that he closes his eyes when he thinking hard about something and trying to describe it (I do this too so it was very striking to see another person do it). Lex, I'd really like to know what happened during your trip to Ukraine and Russia. What did you find?
