      Consider the banging sounds that have just been reported. If it isn't morse code (at least sos) then it's not really a sign of life. If it is morse code then why hasn't the message been reported?
      As I say, there is way too little information yet.

    Being trapped with your son, falling oxygen and desperate circumstances must be heartbreaking. Pray they are found safe and sound. (Edit: What is wrong with people? We all make dumb choices once in a while... we pay the ulimate price for some. Its still a terrible way to go regardless. They may have messed up in this life, but ill still pray they are found safe nevertheless. Have a heart ❤️💔 compassion costs nothing.)

      Hate to break this to you, but given the depth they're at, and the shoddy backing behind the claims made about the submersible, they're dead. The depths they're at are beyond the depth the sub was ever tested for and there appears to be no ventilation system present. For all we know, the noise they heard was the carbon-fiber body (horrible choice for a deep-dive hull) failing.

      ​@@Shinzon23What do you think a "rescue sub" would help in this situation? It can't tow it since it is too heavy and they can't exactly get out and change vehicles.
      They are going to drop down a cable with a hook and a camera and clamp onto the sub and lift it up with a ship.

    Being a Mariner myself I don't understand why there is no emergency drills that give a high percentage of recovery or rescue ?
    Why no Steel Cable attached for such situations ?
    Why no emergency flotation devices for such situations ?
    For a detached submersible vessel there's no fail safe addressing multiple variables ?
    A calculated risk that is way too much imho ?
    I'll pray for these guys but I'll be surprised if there even found in the varsity of the given volume of the rescue area ?

    Makes me sick to think they are trapped down there, I kept hoping yesterday for their sake that it imploded and was quick for them…..this is just terrible if they are trapped like that. I think the rescue part also depends how deep they are down there because what other sub vessel has the ability to go that deep? The whole thing is terrifying and there should have been more safety plans in place for something like this.

    It's almost like this guy wanted the submersible to fail. He kept bragging how unsafe it was, how make shift it was, how there was mechanical and technical issues on almost every descent he made. He was quoted by a fellow passenger saying "everything can fail, the lights, emergency, equipment, but even it does this casing, designed by NASA and MIT won't rupture and will keep you alive" - okay well everything has failed and you're all dead or are dying unless we can get to you.
    Horrible situation all around and I hope they get found and rescued soon but it's not looking likely

      I like to put 40 lbs on my back to hike into the grizzly bear infested back country of the canadian mountains with my mom for fun. People call us crazy 🤷‍♀️ statistically I'm more likely to die on the highway driving out to my tail head than I am hiking on the actual trail. You have to accept risks every day, and people balance the risk to benefit ratio and do it, or dont. I bet that son and dad had a pretty good relationship and were excited for this trip. My heart goes out to them, I hope they come home ❤

    I support the efforts of scientists and adventurers to blaze new trails, but taking a teenager down there was very irresponsible.
    The other three passengers have decades of experience doing extreme trips and are far more aware of the true potential for fatalities. I feel like the father and son were collateral damage; Stockton admitted and was warned they were not following a lot of the standard industry protocols and he should have been vetting the passengers allowed on board.

    Did they really know the risks? What I am saying is that they may have signed disclosures, but did they explain in plain English that the Titan was only rated for 2,000-4,000 feet and they were going more than 12,000 feet? From what I heard they couldn't even get the submersible certified. If all this is true, then there still might be possible legal action despite the signed disclosures.

    The ends of the sub are titanium ..but the hull is carbon fiber reinfirced plastic ..apparently the plastic would shatter if it fails ..the 2 materials,metal and plastic will shrink at different rates with temp changes , this could cause a seal to leak or the plastic to crack
