The lyrics are describing an experience M. Shadows had when he tripped on what I believe was DMT. It seemed like a life changing experience for him how he described it in a recent interview. Made for a pretty good song too! This, Cosmic, and Easier are my favorites from the album.
This is what happens when a group of musicians with an endless amount of talent enjoy the occasional retreat that may or may not include hallucinagens of the therapeutic sort, and I fucking love it! I myself have attended such a retreat and it changed my life. Planning the next “trip” soon.
Wanna add my understanding of that meaning here :) I’m thinking that “walk on water” is often used as an example of being invincible, like one can do anything. In this song, I visualise a person walking on water, but the water level is lowering on the spot. Like a hole. The rest of the water remains at the same level. So the person is still walking on water, but there is no return or the level will keep lowering. I know this sound weird af, but in my mind, if the person keeps acting invincible or “walk on water”, things will go wrong. It’s not real, but the person thinks so. I think the whole album is about the state of the world, so much is fake and plastic, and I imagine the person who’s walking on water is all those who are blindly accepting this world without having formed an opinion/understanding of their own. Feel free to reply, I love this album and like to talk about this stuff xD
The lyric you were trying to figure out is "Youre like no other, youre the other one in VIEW." The song is about a nihilistic man walking to hell, but stops to look at the beautiful nature and flowers and realises that life may actually have meaning, but its too late as hes already going to hell.
actuallly, "walk on water but the water swallows you" is from the bible. I dont remember the name of a men that tries to walk above the water like jesus, but he falls in.
@@whoisjulianoit’s Peter! He was able to walk on the water with Jesus but as soon as he stopped focusing on Jesus he fell into the water! I immediately thought of them as soon as I heard those lyrics!
Super late, but fun fact: The original intention was for Lionel Richie to sing the "it's a beautiful morning..." bridge, but it unfortunately didn't materialize due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, that section was sung by Synyster Gates (lead guitarist).
Overall, really enjoyed this song! Though the start was a bit rough, in my opinion. And not that I don't like old school stuff, but the start felt like some very old school, 80-90s style metal in a very specific way I'm not too fond of. Almost like the vocalist is singing to a completely different song than the one the band is playing, but trying to make it fit. But it got better, much better, and again, overall I really enjoyed it!
Yeah. Not gonna lie. I had the same reaction hearing the chorus to this song. Like. Sorry bro not only does it not really make sense but you're saying water way to much in a single phrasing.
The momentum is leading to the last 3 songs, it's heading somewhere. You can't just keep going forever lol G, O rdinary, D eath and Life is But a Dream are a great final act of this album.
@@sriver004 man you fanboys will eat up anything they do. Easier and G.O.D. are awful. Cosmic should have been the album closer and the instrumental should have been short and sandwiched earlier on the album.

The water is symbolic for people. He walked on water and the water “people” swallowed him (death)
Syn is singing the bridge. The entire "It's a beautiful morning, it's a beautiful day" section.
No shot. That sounds like matt still
@@munchenonyou3774well you would be wrong, because it’s confirmed that it’s Syn.
I think it's fitting that Syn sang that section because of it's resemblance to the Drop D demo from Pinkly Smooth

Meaning he ain’t special or Jesus since he fell in like everyone else but acts like he can walk on water

Bro the lyrics are metaphorical 😅

Besides Cosmic this is my second fav song on the album. FUCKING HITS. Reminds me of an old school Alice in Chains song.
Bro your reaction was the best I’ve ever seen holy shit I laughed so ffng hard!!!
Sound effects featuring avenged sevenfold makes me 😂
This one is really Alice in chains vibe, mixed with strawberry fields..
DMT is a hell of a drug. 7 years of experiencing different things is what led to this masterpiece of an album
you walk on water is a ref to you think you are as virtuous as jesus

Granted. I didn't think of it being like ironic.
I just don't like the chorus because he says water twice and it's just. It bugs the fuck out of me
Yeah your probably a good UA-camr but this review is just awful like how do you not know two of the verses? “Maybe I’m just looking to hard into it”
This is the best song on the new album
