    I think mom said she got this model in 1950 the year my brother was born so you are right on the date. I wish I knew when I started having trouble with it after mom passed that they could be refurbished, I sure miss that, best stand/hand mixer ever made in my humble opinion.

    I bought a model 10 at an auction for a dollar. It's stuck on high speed. I know what to look for now. The parts inside this old mixer are totally different from the newer one, which I have taken apart to clean the pounds of flour out. And I have to mention the problem in your right hand I have the same scar from the wrist jack I had. No feeling in my thumb or index finger. Lost a lot of mobility also. Your video makes me confident enough to work on my Sunbeam mixer. Thank you very much.

    I wish you would show the cleaning and greasing on these videos. Probably just a video of that so people don’t have to watch that part all the time but it would be super helpful.

    What type(s) of grease do you use, food grade grease? And if you don't mind sharing, where do you buy parts? I restore vintage sewing machines so my mom thinks I can fix her model 10 Sunbeam!! :)

    I just want to know at 18:35 you take out the filter, you replace it with what, i can't find any think

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666 4 роки тому +2

      I dont replace it at all, it isn't needed these days. It's main purpose was to filter noise interference so you didnt get interference on the AM radio bands. They all eventually leak current to the chassis, so if you ever get a little (or big) zap from one of these machines, that is most likely the culprit. Sunbeam stopped installing them after the model 11.

    Hi, do you have any sort of wiring scheme for this coil?

    I got to this stage but both the shafts for the cogs are seized solid - Im afraid to crank on them too hard and I think the retaining nuts are on the back - not sure what to do at this point....

    Really enjoyed this resto. Mom had this exact one and I believe it is from 1950 as my brother says he remembered it when he was about 4 and he was born in 50'. I inherited it and used it for years until it gave off burning wire smell and motor seemed to lag, sold it in yard sale, regret it very much, wasn't aware at the time that there were people like yourself that restored them. Hope you don't retire from YT too soon, just found and subscribed to your channel! :)

    Hi Rick, In This video the resistor reads 249 and you say it's out of range. What is in range at the high and low end? thanks.

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666 4 роки тому +2

      Hi Jim, the resistor should be 180 ohms +- 10%

      @@vintagemixersandmore1666Thanks, Rick. I don't Know how you seemingly so easily reattach those spring "clips" to the brush holders. I've pulled out most of my hair from doing the ones I've done so far. I'm going to make a tool to make it easy. I have a pair of right angle needle nose pliers that I will pull apart. The pointed end will allow me to snag the spring loop and then I'll insert the point into the hole in the brush holder which will center the loop on the brush holder. Then I'll slide the loop on to the brush holder and into the groove with a flat piece of metal that will have a forked end or maybe a flat screw driver with a forked end. I wouldn't be surprised if this method was similar to how it was done on the assembly line except both pieces would be attached and spring loaded. Now I have to make mine spring loaded and my days of field coil removal dread will be over. I hope your health is good. talk to you later.

      @@JimWatsonTheframingMagician Hey Jim, going better, thanks! Those clips I just pop on with my fingers, I can get 2 fingers in there and use my fingertips to line it up then just push the spring clip onto the brush holder. If I couldnt fit my fingers in there then it might be a bit more trouble for me lol.

      @@vintagemixersandmore1666 Yes I've considered that, but I'm not confident in doing that right now. Instead, I might post pics. I'm about to restore a HB and install in an old sewing machine cabinet. When finished it will, I believe, turn out to be the world's first Hamilton Beach hide-away mixer cabinet complete with drawers for bowls and accessories. The mixer will like the original sewing machine head drop down into the cabinet and be concealed when not in use. What do you think?
