In reality, Napoleon held out his arms and said "If you wish to kill your Emperor, here I am." This scens is a joke comapred to what ACTUALLY happened.
Did you just show up on planet earth, or don't you realize that movies aren't a true documentary? There's UA-cam videos like that, for super intellectual people like you. Or just read a book
God it is remakrable how much worse Ridley made this scene compared to the 1970 film. Hell it is less dramatic than the historic accounts of what happened at the meeting with the 5eme de ligne.
Nothing warms a leaders heart more than the authentic love from those who allow them to lead. While not the same, I have felt this before a few times in my own life, and being acknowledged this way feels about as good as anything.
I see a lot of people saying this scene is ass compared to what really happened/in Waterloo but I personally feel that it's good enough, Napoleon made an entire Regiment bow their heads and join him and that's what both Waterloo and this scene show, even if inaccurately.
Bro after seeing the Waterloo movie scene of this I realize how much of an absolute joke this is. They took a well documented scene where we know what he said, changed the script slightly, and toned it down in numbers and tone. Disappointing
The lighting is so poor we can't see any of the soldiers' faces (but I'm pretty sure I can tell at least one of them is Black, because it's 2023, not 1815), the soldiers chuckling breaks any somber tension and just makes it awkward, and his voice was WHINY. Their reaction felt so faked. About as fake as all the accounts in this comment section posting heart emojis. Pathetic.
Just watch the 2002 Napoleon miniseries if you want a way better rappresentation of Napoleons return, 1970s Waterloo version is bigger in scope but way less emphatic.
As a person who into history, I still enjoyed this movie. I feel like all my fellow history buffs are too hard on this movie as they compare it to a masterpiece like Waterloo.
With Joaquin extraordinary acting in Joker film. This Napoleon movie acted by him .. I felt his hand got tied down to act on the garbage script writer has given to him! This is not Joaquin Phenoix Best Performance!

@@purplepup8897and yet the movemie Waterloo back in the 70s produced a way more accurate protrayal
@@purplepup8897yeah but the history is so much more epic
@@purplepup8897yeah we know that, but it's not necessary when the emperor NAPOLEON'S life is alrededor fascinating and mind blowing
Waterloo's scene of this is soo much better. This comes across as a tv film scene. No disrespect to Phoenix he worked with the script he had
When you play RPG with maximum charisma.
Yeah the real thing was much more dramatic and charismatic than thus
God it is remakrable how much worse Ridley made this scene compared to the 1970 film. Hell it is less dramatic than the historic accounts of what happened at the meeting with the 5eme de ligne.
Amen to this.
If any among you wishes to kill your emperor....here I am.
Ridley Scotts an dirty Englishman, so its obvious he'd try to make it bad.

Napoleon 2023: *Director Was Too Lazy To Go For Historical Accuracy*
Waterloo 1970: *Accurate Representation*
Ridley Scott is better known for futuristic fantasy, not historic accuracy.
@@hoppyandhisholidayhelpers1714 he wasn’t the right person to make a napoleon movie.
That one soldier took all the risks
If the Emperor had not let Marshal Ney stand by Louis 16's brother, all those who loved him would never have betrayed him.
My favourite scene 💕

Mine too 😍😍😭
This kinda reminds me of the scene in inside out, but instead of "please don't be mad" it's "will you join me"
I see a lot of people saying this scene is ass compared to what really happened/in Waterloo but I personally feel that it's good enough, Napoleon made an entire Regiment bow their heads and join him and that's what both Waterloo and this scene show, even if inaccurately.
as in accurate as this movie is, I gotta admit, this scene is pretty wholesome
Chanting altogether at the same time would've been a powerful moment.
Imagine this but 50 thousand men hes talking to and not maybe 150

French army had Black général during this period, so well, one black soldier would not be à big deal
