50 years ago (on 23 March 1964), the Beatles rocked the stage of the Ed Sullivan Show with "Please Please me"! They had played on the Ed Sullivan show twice before, and we did a cover for each of their performances:
"I Saw Her Standing There"
• I Saw Her Standing The...
and
"This Boy"
• This Boy - MonaLisa Tw...
To celebrate their 3rd week on Ed Sullivan we did a new studio cover of this great song. However, to save some time we took the bass and drums tracks from a live recording (played by Michael Mozeth and Philipp Wolf) that we did back in 2013. We then added the guitars, harp and all the voices at our studio :)
We decided to change the words just a tiny bit, so it would make more sense for us (being girls) to sing it. We hope you don't mind!
Have a great day and much love,
Mona & Lisa
I never, EVER get tired of hearing You Ladies play this song of theirs. It honors them, it honors You (both & all). I loved it when i was 7yrs.old. I love now that i'm 60. Honestly, it 'Pleases~Me' like few other things in life.
I also am 60. Beatle fan since 1964 and I totally resonate with your comment. MLT are a gift to the world, just like the Beatles were :-)
I am 69 and have been an ardent fan of the Beatles all my life. I've been listening to the Twins and watching their videos for about five years now. I am so following everything they do. The Austrian precision shines in every detail... the Fab Four are re-appearing out of the grainy '60s in high-definition 21st Century excellence! And here, when the harmony is essential, I can tell they worked very hard to get the mix down perfect and make it look fun. The chorus is SO spot on it ABSOLUTELY GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS!!! Stay Groovy all!
It would be lovely if folks would recognize that Mona and Lisa are Austrian, singing songs that are the fabric of modern rock 'n' roll in a language that isn't their native tongue. Personally, I can't get enough of them - dialect and all. Such incredible musical talent, such charming personalities and just shine in a world that is rapidly losing its brightness. We should count ourselves outrageously lucky that they share this with us. Stay Groovy!
I just realizar tudo.fact right now, by your information. Congratulations to Australia, Beautifull land. Since from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
Sensitive, charming, talent and beautifull as usuall. Congratulations since from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
@@sergiomorisson9245 Austria, (next to Germany) not Australia.
But they are great either way.
Agree completely, great points.
@@sergiomorisson9245 Sorry Sergio, they are not from Australia, but from Austria in Europe. People from Austria speak German.
I'm 66 and cannot remember wanting to get up and dance but THIS...will do the trick.
Well done. All in the spirit of the Beatles. I am 68 and remember how they shook the world with these songs never heard before.
I’m 68 also & just discovered them. Beatles is the core of my life. Great job ty for loving them too even tho you’re young and Austrian!! Amazing!!
Ditto from this 77-year-old!!
Sucks
Someone once said, " Led Zepplin" has become their own cover band as so much time has passed since the 60's.
In an ironic type of twist, Mona/Lisa has always been a cover band since they started playing years ago.
Now, the term cover band seems ludicrous. They are the worlds ( original cover band.)
God Bless you ladies.
They know how to express the essence of the Beatles' songs.
Mona and Lisa in polka dots singing in perfect harmony . . . that's Heaven. Thanks, Twins, a lot.
You've seen the "This Boy is Mine" video? I think that clip here was from the same gig: ua-cam.com/video/1bAuhDjlAmM/v-deo.html
Came for the looks..stayed for the music..........Loved the Talent!
So many great songs the Beatles left us and you ladies are so great at relighting that fire.
Greatest cover of this song, ever. Girls crushed it!
The Mark O’Connor ?
So beautiful of this song!!
I spent the whole evening listening to all your covers and original songs. You girls are really talented! I hope you never stop making music because you're too good.
John would sometimes forget the words to a song. At timepoint 1:30 he sang, “I know I never even try girl” at the same time Paul sang, “I know you never even try girl”. They actually left it in the final recording of Please Please Me because that “take” sounded so good. Right after John sings the wrong word, you can hear him in the next verse laughing ever so slightly (very subtly) as he realized his mistake.
I've never heard new life and freshness brought to old music like these young ladies do. Wonderful talents....
Am I the only very old guy who tears up a little watching these remarkable young women? If like me you're an OBF (Original Beatle Fan) you know there's literally some kind of indefinable magic, some kind of spiritual core inside Beatles music. Lots of acts do pleasant or fun versions of Beatle songs but these girls GET IT. The Beatles are in their DNA, way deep down. HOW THE F IS THAT POSSIBLE 56 YEARS LATER?
me too old chap ..Conan 76 UK
Not many can perform the perfect Pop Song perfectly Only The Beatles and The Mona Lisa Twins!!!
I might add Phil Keaggy to the short list of people who can do the Beatles proud !
Beautiful blend of two unique voices. Outstanding version of a great Beatles tune.
I love their version of the Beatles 'latest' "Now And Then". I can see the song becoming popular at weddings.
Absolutely fantastic and should be on every ones play list
These days my playlist is nothing but MonaLisa Twins.
You ladies are the absolutely best at doing Beatles' covers, just amazing and really nice to hear a woman's voice singing them
Mike Mckenna Except for this song they dont switch "Girl" to "boy"! Like the Beatles did a tribute to Brian Epsteins secret engagement with Neil Harrit and the song "Boys" where Ringo sings! It wouldnt sound good if "This boy" was renamed "This Girl" in the Twins cover of it would it?
John and George sent these two angels back to carry on their music - mesmeric, sensational, absolutely phat!
Eugene from Australia like your cat too
The spirit is the SAME ☺
They do don’t they. I hear them a couple of octaves higher they are but they are the Beatles.
Yesss i am agree.!!!
Goosebumps. Wow.
Where have I been? This video appeared out of nowhere as recommended. Female McCartney and Lennon. But with their own soul. I am at a loss. Can’t even describe the way it makes me feel to listen to them. I love the Beatles and their music more than anything. Their music came to me when I was ten years old. They completely formed my musical taste. The closest to heaven I’ve ever been was , watching sir paul McCartney play in concert. In 2014.
Since I heard this cover, the only way I sing this song is with Mona's "c'mon" accent!
In no time this will be the proper way to pronounce it, anyway. You are just an early adopter. :-)
There appears to be a lot of controversy about this topic. WTF? Ask John Lennon to explain "I Am The Walrus", for gosh sakes. Music is Music. Deal with it, people!
I'm with ya on that! Same here
simply beautiful
From a person that speaks English in the United States, Michigan, north of Detroit, I never heard the song Please Please Me like that! When Mona sings come on, it comes out kha- mon. You hear the letter h. It is so cool to hear her dialect in that way...it is so freakin' wildly cool. I could listen to it over and over.
I hadn't noticed that at first. Sounds great!
Two voices so different but blend together so beautifully
Amazing voices
These young ladies are simply the best...
C'mon (C'mon)... C'mon (C'mon)... C'mon (C'mon)!!!
Please keep always Grooving, Mona & Lisa!!!
No words to describe how great it is
WOW. Such perfection. Perfect sound, perfect looks, perfect everything!
I do love these two.
The editing on this is a work of art on its own, absolutely "Top Drawer!" Perfect, perfect, PERFECT!
Absolutely Adorable.
Makes me smile. I was in 3rd grade when that came out.
I love this girls!!!!!
Fantastic stuff on all songs by both Mona and Lisa and their dad. Excellently produced and orchestrated. A joy to watch all the videos.
I'm in awe at the sliding chord changes in this song. The Mona Lisa videos capture the picking and chord changes exceptionally well. It's just one of many things I like about watching the Mona Lisa videos.
GREAT COVER!!!!
Beautifull, excelent greate
Wow, these girls are really good, but also bringing their own style to these great Beatle songs, and other classic bands. So cool that this generation's seem to love the Beatles as much as old boys such as my self.
You two have made other people smile....and that's an achievement to be proud of within itself.
Thanks.
These twins can really rock, also, their as cute as a speckled pup!!
Holy cow!!!!! .....where did they come from .....one of the best thing ive ever heard.....wow!!!!!!
We are talking serious talent here. Its great to hear a quality cover of a song I have enjoyed for so many years.
Love these girls!
I'm 75 and remember when the Beatles first came to prominence, but I couldn't understand the 'Beatlemania'... Mona and Lisa have changed all that!!
vocal perfection is what I just witnessed...you honor music by sharing your talent...I could listen to you both sing and play all day.....come to Maui and play please...
Beautiful cover ladies!❤
Beautiful ... beautiful ... beautiful. Love the singing, guitars and Mona's Harmonica playing. Outstanding!!!
I love the Mona Lisa Twins (and their unique music)!
Great Performance !!!!!!
This is the best cover ever, the best. No match with this, all nice tribute bands do their best, but this is true emotion. Same magic mix of voices. Unbelievable!
Wowza! Brilliant! Beautiful! Highly Entertaining!
Had this been 1963, you would have BEEN the Beatles! Amazing stuff guys!
The pure, natural beauty of this song comes through no matter what version I hear. The harmonies and chord changes make me believe there must be a God they are so pretty. Great job, ladies!!! And their version of Your Bird Can Sing blows me away.
Mona Lisa twins absolutely amazing I love em ❤
Happy birthday 🎉🎂🎈 Mona and Lisa . Wishing you much happiness and joy this year ....
be safe and well wherever you are.
One of my top 10 fave Beatles tunes. Got a bit misty eyed on this one. The Love and Respect you show for their music is Cosmic. Thank you for sharing this with the world.
BRAWOooooo! BRAVOOooooo!!!
nice touch on the rickenbacker and harmonica...and perfect harmonies. nailed it!
I never tire of this one. Great performance.
has anyone noticed how good this is? like really, really good!
I live in Nashville and have performed music off and on all my life. This is really something special.
Really really really good! Us MLT Club members could have told you that!
You do please me, Mona and Lisa with your angelic harmonies and great Beatles songs.
The editing is suburb...the ladies take great pride in their videos and the hard work paid off...great sound great production and great accents
awesome
You both manage to capture the heart and soul of the song, incredible.
Love these gals ..
These sisters have musical talent which is hard to comprehend. Their abilities are far reaching and are on par, or better, than the original versions of their songs. Mona is on fire with her Rickenbacker and Lisa absolutely kills her Gretsch! Bravo ladies 😊👍👏
You had me a c'mon.
The fact is that these two breathed new life into these songs like I've never heard.
What a great rendition of an early Beatle classic....it was a pleasure to listen to...again and again
Could listen to this forever.
Wow!!! Fantastic harmonized vocals.... but above all else, what's really exciting is to see the both of you enjoying yourselves so much singing this FANTASTIC cover !!
This is one of the very few times when the Twins changed the gender in the song. Nowadays they sing it as it was written, which adds an interesting twist when they cover a song like the Kink's "Lola."
These girls have the best harmonies on the Planet.
Schön, daß das Feuer dieser und anderer Musik weitergetragen werden. Das kann ich mir öfter anhören!
Thanks for a fantastic rendition of one of my favorite Beatle songs!
CASPER AND UA-cam AND THE TWINS. AND ONE OF FAVORITE SONGS FROM THE BEATLES. CASPER GHOST OF MUSIC PAST!
spot farcking on ladies. whats better than two beautiful ladies singing the Beatles? NOTHING!
Makes me smile. Best cover ever! Joy and fun has returned to music! Mona Lisa Twins!
My favorite cover of this song :)

Very good! It's a trip listening to you two! I grew up with the Beatles -- so this is music to my ears, and you girls do it well!
Two beauty angels.
The nostalgic and new. The cool and cute. I feel the best videos.
I love them.
Fantastic, these covers are 100% getting me through lockdown!
You are both amazing. I grew up in the 60’s when the Beatles were the tops. I love your renditions of their songs. A few years ago I began playing the guitar and was able to purchase a Rickenbacker 325c64 like the one Mona plays. I just joined your club and look forward to hearing a lot more. Congratulations Mona and Lisa.
Espetacular !
Great vocals, instrumentation, costume changes...direction. The quality is excellent. The twins are captivating.
