I used to talk to my dogs. It all stopped when I adopted a deaf dog. It made me realize dogs aren't like humans who listen to sentences!

They don’t follow sentences phrases yes. But learned over time. Body language and tone of voice more so.
Your dog would be responsive to a modified sign language as a form of communication.
Even if deaf put your head touching the did ear area and talk they will feel the sound
I used to do this with my friend’s dog whenever I visited. He seemed to enjoy it and the attention of course!
Hand signals and some modification of sign language will make your dog feel more love!!!
