Martin Johnson - Off Grid Living - Face or Full Cords of fire wood ??
I've been impressed with my Branson 3520R that I bought in 2015 . It had 900hrs on it in less than 2 years . Cleared 7 acres of property , built a 1/2 acre pond , 1000' driveway , laid 1000' water line and dug the house foundation . Today it just sees occasional use for bush hogging and the stump removal every now and then . I did purchase the backhoe attachment so it made easy work of countless stump removals . Get a tooth blade for the front of that bucket , it makes clearing brush and digging much easier . Good luck with the tractor , mine has been a dependable beast .

At 900hrs in 2 years you USE YOUR TRACTOR. Not just like U-tube "want To -be-ers". You should have a "chanel". Between my three tractors l rack-up about 250hours a year! I only use them to make money & for HEAVY Lifting. Just paid my heat bill on my 90year old "Big barn of a house" for a measly 85.oo$(natural gas). Just Don't believe in de-Forest, just cut dead trees or Dagerouse ones. Firewood selling yields 12.oo$ an hour, and house heating with firewood pays me 85 CENTS AN HOUR. Have done this on 4 different homes ---What a time ,effort,and machinery losser!! That's with a 4 hour timeframe to cut,split &stack a cord( 4'×4'×8') of firewood. That is the "easy" part--much more WORK& EXPENSES before & after.
"PULL STUMPS with a 35HP TRACTOR" loosely meaning clear the dirt, cut 'em low and use a stump grinder. Must be that new common core math...

@@lonniehowell2360 thanks for the heads up. I was almost certain of it during the first few seconds because of the way he drove up to the stump. Then starts the blah blah blah blabbering on about everything I DIDN'T come to see. I'll be giving it a thumbs down. And a do not recommend this channel.
@@TheBrushcutter Actually that is the first step to pull a stump with *just* a bucket. The idea is is to find the big roots. Then back up, get a running start, at 8 or 10 feet away start to catch the root early at just a few inches deep. Continue until stopped. Repeat on all the other roots (should only be 4 or 5). Stump will then pop out with the last root. I eyewitnesses the backhoe operator who did this. He cleared a 1 acre site of a dozen stumps in an afternoon. Most amazing thing I've seen.
@@Da_cat12 I built a bar that uses the rippers from my box blade. I usually flip all but 1 up and using the single ripper, hook the roots and pull up on the 3pt while driving forward. I also have a v-shear that I mount on the fel for clearing brush and small trees. I take out roots and all with it but I'm just getting rid of hedge and yaupon clusters and other undesirables for the most part. NO running starts, no slamming into things. I have a Kubota B2320 and I know it will only do so much, so no need to beat on things and tear up a good tractor. Know your machine's limits and you won't destroy it trying to do things it just wont do.
Edit to add if I hire someone with a backhoe and they are only using the front bucket to remove stumps I would question both their ability and experience.

on small engines I always get a magnetic drain plug. Keeps those bits from recirculating, not as good as a filter but better than not.
I've removed some pretty good size stumps with my little 23-hp JD 770. The trick is to dig deep on either side and then the front, snapping the roots individually with the bucket or cutting them with a maul or chainsaw (swap to an old chain). Eventually, you'll loosen things up enough to lever the stump out of the hole. It takes time and makes a huge mess to fill in, but it removes the entire stump. I'm sure you could get the job done much faster with your bigger tractor.
That "crayon" is called keel, and the tool is a keel holder. Ironworkers use them to mark rebar measurements.
Whilst having a tractor don't forget to dig a wide hip high ditch, drainage around the house into a catchmeñt pond. Near the garden allottment. Winter time.just need to push the snow into the ditch. And when it rains water are channels into the ditch to the catchment ponds...
Also drainage on the road to property ..
It is important to protect soil erosion ..ring fence the land surrounding from forrest fire.etc.

I mentioned on your stump video the value of going up a step in stump grinder size. In that video all I saw was smaller stumps. Stumps this size will have you absolutely loving the bigger grinder by comparison.

Another way to get rid of stumps is to cut them low, cover with ground and in 1-2 years they will rot completely. Will not work on Cedar and similar trees of course, but works great on everything else.
You are the perfect candidates for a sawmill. You could mill your own lumber for all types of outbuildings.

Martin, just be aware that pushing something solid with a loader like that can do extensive damage to the pneumatics in your tractor. It results in backpressures into the hoses and pump that often exceed, by several orders of magnitude the rated capacity of your pneumatic system.

A bucket on that machine would do zip against any stump over six inches. The 12-34" will just giggle at it!
The first oil change colour is mineral oil to cure the metal in the motor and a few metal burs come off.
Nice job working on those stumps! In the next couple of weeks, I will be doing the same thing with my small tractor. Thanks for sharing!
My Allis Chalmers 5020 came to me after previous owner used the bucket as a ram. The stump wins if you don't dig a relief next to it first.

If you lightly burn ( scorch ) the ends of those green garden posts they will last a lot longer .Check it out.
Yeah......4 or 5 years instead of 3.....ahahahaaa. Absolute waste of effort to build a fence on untreated pine posts.
I bought a 3 point post hole digger with 8 and 13 inch augers. I'm going to try and dig some holes with the 12 inch around the stump and see if cutting through the roots will help me get out the ones I need to pull.

It's more fun and more gratifying to dig them out with a mini excavator, but not too small.

I would've suggested wrapping a big chain around the stumps if you had more stump sticking up higher, then using a large wheel next to the stump and run the chain over the wheel. That way the chain would pull up on the stump instead of ripping it sideways or in your case trying to push them over.
That sounds like "torture" AGAIN for the tractor. I dig out (backhoe) in yard areas or just cut them off "super-level" to the ground in the woods.
You should really rent an excavator or a guy with an excavator. Much quicker and you get them all out. But great job on the homestead and the videos. Thanks for sharing.

Use a chain and old tire to remove stumps. If that does not work, a 1 to 5 or 1 to 7 pulley system will definitely remove those stumps. There a re a lot of great videos on UA-cam using both systems.

If you have a hole auger for your tractor. Put the point in the Centre and auger it should come right out.
Thanks for the upload guys, You seem to pick up new skills fast. That tractor is the perfect size for your homestead. We used to save used motor oil to coat post bottoms to help stave of rot once in the ground. Oh Marty I almost forgot to tell you most likely the oil looks metallic from the coatings and shipping grease they use on new engines. Blessing from NorthWest Pa,

Don't know if this is an urban myth. Was told to drill holes and pour vegetable oil in. Helps break down the stump.

Just dig around the stumps and cut the roots with the chain saw then you could just lift the stumps up. Or even better just fill them with stump remover and wait 2 weeks and you all done

Soooooo! Martin, this job is out of your stump grinder rental dyi league! You will need a pro with a powerful grinder to make headway. The manageable rental units will takes days and days. It will be live and learn I guess. 30 years excavating experience. I suggested once, I'll try again. A good size trackhoe with operator/pre arrange some chips/manure/compost/soil to be delivered at project at appropriate time. Use you cute machine to assist excavator and grade garden area. Those roots cant stay in your garden. Pay now or pay later. Now's the time if you expect to plant this year.
Depends what you rent. My local rental place has the "toy" grinder that you are referring to, but they also have a couple of different Vermeer grinders like the pros use. I've rented one before and taken care of a 24" stump in short order.
@@clandry1234 it turns out the stump issue is mute. The "garden area", turned out to be raised beds.
They can work around those stumps and cut them flush with a chain saw.

Pine, fir and cedar. That is about all we have around here.
I rented a 35 HP Bobcat excavator to redo the irrigation ditch and afterwards dug out a huge apple tree stump. Couldn't have done it even with the backhoe attachment for my Kioti tractor. The deep roots were too big. The video on that is coming out this week.

The noise when you use the tractor are the idraulic fluid or the gear box. Don't worry is all normal
I was thinking it was the bucket level indicator rod vibrating. Mine does that in certain positions and rpm ranges.
Destumping is a lot of work. Why not cut the tree to a flat surface with a chainsaw and make an X with the chainsaw, water will collect if you cut the X deepest in the middle. Saw an arborist doing that and the stump rotted away within a few years. About collecting fertility for your garden: rake the top of the woods around the house and dump the stuff on your garden to be. Let the chickens roam on top of that. On the corner post it would be better if you used the “Z” style. Top of the corner post to the bottom of the next post. That way all the tension is transferred to the bottom of the next post. “H” will still have the tendency to lean

You should look into getting digging teeth for your tractor bucket, it will turn it into a real digging machine! Great for ripping roots and breaking up hard ground for the garden...

Just a suggestion, some of the thinner trees should be cut down and the little forest, time stamp 9:53 should also thinned . This will allow better growth of the tree around them and prevent wild fire.
Ramiro I suggest using a. 6 TONE CHAIN HOIST TO PULL OUT THE TREE STUMP NO POWER TOOLS NEED OR GAS OR ELECTRICITY JUST TIME AND CHAIN PULLING STRENGTH LOOK IT UP ON UA-cam......WELCOME...............
The oil out of the log splitter is odd. it looks frothy like water/condensation or air got into it or it might have been overfilled.
If you want to watch a guy walk around with a camera and point at the dirt around the stumps THAT HE DOES NOT PULL... then THIS is the video for you. I own a 35-hp tractor and thought this would be a helpful video. I was completely wrong. However... there's always a however.... they do show a bunch of piles of split firewood, so there's that.

Can we park our RV there? It's only 40 foot with 3 slides. 🤣 It does look like a nice spot for an RV. Once you trim the trees the morning views while having coffee will be very serene I bet.
yes yes / ironworkers steal our tools as time go,s on! Thats a machinest Tool -when heating bearings over 2 feet across + .. you use a TEmp stick/ looks like same crayon but it 4 dif colors and like 200 degre.. 250 ... 300.. 350.. are main 1s used! :>)
Color is not a good indicator for oil. Additives, etc give oils different colors. Plus, even if oil contains contaminants each oil formulation has differing ability to suspend those contaminants.
Stumps can take some removing if you cut them higher say 2 meters you have more leverage to push with the tractor.
It's a big job to dig them out and cut the roots, or drill a hole in them and soak them with your old oil and burn them if you can stand the smoke,there are others ways but this is what I do during the winter so there is no fire danger .

The oil looked more air rated than metallic having all those bubbles in it

You can burn the stumps in the future. There are three or four ways to burn the stumps. If you have more down the road.
Which why do you use?
there is a trick using a 55 gal barrel drum and burning out the stumps.
