Last time USA funded Pakistan was to fight Soviet Union. Al Qaeda and other terrorists were created. But major part of funds were diverted to fight proxy war with India in Kashmir and Punjab. This time there are high chances that these funds and weapons and terrorists will be used more against India rather than China.

1. Cost of highway from Gwadar to Kashagar would hardly be some 2-3 billion USD. This can be written off by the Chinese. But Gwadar port plus control over GB is most important for China.
