60 years covering basketball from NAIA to AAU NBA, NCAA - i never seen such a calm intelligent play down 2 with 2 seconds left.
Headass boi
Word. Split second decision to pass up on Guy to his left, then a perfect pass to D. with just enough time to score. Instant classic! WahooWa
@@ralldelmuro6325 And passed up Jerome to his right! Guy and Jerome likely would have chucked up low-percentage mid-court shots. What b'ball instincts and poise!
Ahem...ua-cam.com/video/J1eOGcHXsgU/v-deo.html
Diakite made a great shot and Clark made a great pass, but another great element was Clark keeping his poise and not throwing up a panicked half court shot.
NO DOUBT about it!!
1. Kyle Guy signaling Diakite to tap the rebound backcourt
2. He actually does
3. Clark chases it down and heads back
4. Guy and Jerome asking for the ball
5. Clark finds a man closer to the hoop and makes the perfect pass
5. Catch and score for OT
Think of it: Virginia makes a spectacular full-team play for the win over a team that was single-player focused. Carsen Edwards is fantastic and almost got his team the W, but in the end it took a TEAM to win the game, not a shining star with supporting cast
He passed up open players for a man closer to the hoop downcourt.
Its clear why Bennett has started this small freshman guard from day-one. What b'ball instincts (and a great successor to Ty Jerome)!
@@travisdonaldstanley6420 Begs the question: Did Jerome miss intentionally? Was that the "perfect miss" of a free throw? Seeing Guy tell D to tap it back sure would suggest so, in which case, we have another hero in that amazing play into OT!
I'll say it again: Teamwork vs one superstar
@@travisdonaldstanley6420 Yepper. But that "little" dude (a first-year/freshman) makes up for his lack of b'ball height in ways just like this.
Clarck won it for Virginia, his poise and calm over chaos is so unbielevable.
And Clark made the worst play in history this year
As a UVA fan, my heart still skips a beat at 3:53
Carson Edwards was responsible for 56% of Purdue's points in this game
Dalton G I’m so tried I need a nap goodnight ?
And still lost 😂😂😂
Yep. & 59% of the team's 3PAs came from Edwards. 71% of 3Ps Edwards. 62% of his points came in the 2nd half. #Stats
Basically, Edwards is a beast. But missed during clutch end game opportunities. Might he be missing the clutch gene? Time will tell.
José Ruben I’m not sure what you are talking about sorry ?
One of the best ncaa tournament games I’ve seen in some time
Edwards was carrying Purdue bruh, that man needed help
Thouxanband Swavy i don’t watch ncaa my first time seeing him but am I wrong for seeing a drose feel from him of course just a bit bigger/slower
Luis Marquez I see Damian Lillard, but yea D Rose too
Thouxanband Swavy This how I’m replying back to comments on google plus ?
i dont know how many times i replayed this game 😊😊😊😊😊every second counts
Amazing game. Hated for either team to lose. Purdue fought so hard, and then what an amazing turn of events by Virginia.
Edwards 42 rest of players no one over 7 if Edwards missed just 3 of his 3 pointers game wouldn’t have needed or that dude balled his heart out much respect from a UVA fan
Why he shot a 3 down 1 do?
@@travisdonaldstanley6420 Its still the latter. And all the Purdue fans there probably motivated UVA more. They seem to thrive on a hostile atmosphere - Kyle Guy certainly does; Loves to quiet a crowd.
Clark playing with a cold heart never panicking...we call it in filipino calma lang guys...
Awesome. Diakite is also the one who tipped the ball after the deliberate miss by Jerome. That was an excellent game.
Coming back here after Purdue has finally made it back to the final four. It's been a long and heartbreaking road, but that makes right now that much sweeter.
Did Steph put on a wig and a Purdue #3 jersey? My goodness son
exactly!
If Jerome didn't miss that free throw it was a win for Purdue
One of the greatest games in UVA's NCAA Tournament
Jack Salt is one of the most amazing people in the world , I cried my eyes out at senior night 💕
Still getting chills from this game to today
Amazing to go back, and watch.. love those boys.
Edwards has nothing to put his head down about!! he carried his team like a tru warrior!!!!!! He played better than anyone on both teams!!!!!
So glad my boilers finally made it back to the final 4! This year against Virginia was heartbreaking
another overlooked point was Hunter responding with 26 sec left to take the lead
Edwards you are the winner in our 📚 books
LETS GO UVA!!!!
This is exactly what people mean by team basketball will always win against one player
Clark is my friends older brother
Watched this game live . The Man is a beast .
Still so surreal the run my Cavs made this past March. The final 3 games of the tournament are instant classics with each one coming down to the wire in some form or fashion. No matter the sport they often say it takes perseverance, good teamwork, and a little bit of luck to reach the ultimate goal of wining a championship of any kind.
Despite Purdue's Carson Edwards playing totally out of his mind in this game the unselfish and great play by Clark to Diakite was the play of the game to get them to OT and eventually win to advance.

Love when Diakite says,"Let's Go", at the end of regulation.
1:46 Not for the win bro, for the tie.
That whole sequence was absolutely insane and saved my bracket
edwards deserve to make it to Nba
GO UVA all the way nuff said
LeBron wish he could shoot free throws like the UVA basketball team
Kihei
Insane - still got goosebumps
Edwards has that Mamba Mentality sheesh!!!
They blew it!!!!! Purdouche had it in the bag!!!!
That missed free throw right
kentucky vs duke with laettner has a serious run for its money as greatest college game ive ever seen.
Packline defense at its best!!
Greatest tournament game I ever seen
1:58 black lady lost her mind 😁
Team of destiny.
1: 35 UVA GAME -- SEASON SAVER
Carson Edwards was a beast
Totally.
what a game, Edwards should have been the one take the shot wish he didnt pass it in that last possession.
Edwards needed that last 3. But he had a good game
And he had an open lane to clear shot. No idea why he passed the ball but as a 50-year UVA fan, I'm sure glad he did.
Amazing
Carsen Edwards is a bucket
Edwards was hooping!
He was the only player on the team in double digits.
Grady Eifert running down court and not covering his man helped Virginia. Haarms had to cover two guys. Eifert was such a good player, that was a lapse in judgment. Hunter's push off against Eifert with 28 seconds left in OT could have been called a foul. That would have been huge.
I played Kyle guys brother in a basketball tournament once. He isn’t as good though we won. He got a tech for throwing bows it was pretty funny.
The tying basket at 1:45.
Glad Edwards is on my team, the celtics now
UVA -4.5 might be the greatest backdoor cover of all time.
This still hurts
Uva and Purdue are the only teams to lose to a 16 seed in the NCAA tournament, Uva is better though
Nope.the dfnse.clark
Why wasn’t this backcourt? Virginia back tipped it?
National championship
I didn't know the crimson chin goes to Purdue.
Boiler up!!!!
Lets go doods!
backcourt bro
1st Rd EdwaRds to Miami Heat 😂
Why on Earth would Edwards not take the game winner after he beat his man?????????????????????????????????????????
they was about to foul him so he wanted to hurry up
@@jayrocket3605 They was dwn by one when he did it though?!?
Jimmy Chitwood Jimmy Chitwood Jimmy Chitwood. Painter designed the picket fence play for Merle, but it should have been Jimmy Chitwoods shot at the end of OT. Send painter a copy of "Hoosiers"
go hoos
2:49 why u swearing bro
Realize he said for the win
WAHOOWA!!!!!
Grab a Stopwatch and time the last play of regulation. There was 5.9 seconds left. I timed the final play at between 5.85 to 5.91. The clock started late. If the clock had started correctly, that last shot would have either been at the last possible moment, or it would have been barely late.
The announcer at end of regulation “for the win...” ummm no actually tie , no worries only a few million people heard.
Only a few noticed . Congrats
YUP BUT HIS QUICK TO CORRECT IT RIGHT ? FOR THE TIE :D
99% of the time a hail mary would be thrown instead of making that final pass due to fear of the clock running out. He gambled with the latter and it paid off.
When you shoot everytime you touch the ball you probably will have the most points.....Zero assists from a guard.....Well I guess you can t get one if you dont pass
That was Edward's shot to take. 30 ft pull up, at least you got a chance, hot as he was. Instead he took a chance, made a solid bball play, but dude fumbled it.
2:55 the announcer accidently swore
I didn't hear NOTHING
wait. isnt that backcourt violation.
Not trying to take away from this game because it was fun to watch just an observation.. I had a question from 1:40-1:45 wouldn't that be a backcourt violation since the Virginia player tipped it to the backcourt and than one of their players recovered it?
I was wondering the same thing but I have not heard me one question that until now. Maybe possession is not established on a tip out.
@@evansjohnc yea I'm not sure either I figured since it was touched by the player for Virginia that it would still be a violation but I was unsure and never heard anyone talk about it.
In order to have a back court violation there has to be possession, once the ball is released by a shooter then there is no possession, so a tip to the shooting teams back court would not be considered a back court violation. Had he caught the ball and then thrown it into the back court then it would have been considered a violation as he would have established possession by catching the ball first.
@@marksneed2556 but doesn't a tip mean that team has possession. Just like how someone tips the ball out of bounds after a rebound, it's out on them.
@@kenthslee No not the way the rules are written, they are actually the same thing to a degree.. On an out of bounds, a team is awarded the ball based on which team caused it to go out of bounds..that is pretty much the exact wording for that particular scenario..rule does not say the team that had possession when ball went out of bounds, just the team that caused it ( tipped it out). Had the exact situation Monday night..Hunter tipped ball from TT player, refs ruled the TT player actually touched it after Hunter before it went out of bounds yet he clearly didn't have possession per say..it was free ball at that point. Top out on a rebound is same thing..had that ball gone out of bounds vs Clarke tracking it down then it would have been Purdue ball as UVA would have caused it to go out of bounds..
I was there for the Purdue / Virginia game, it was astonishing especially after the game when Virginia supporters stormed the court and began chanting, "Purdue will not replace us" as they marched with Tiki torches. Simply astonishing!!!!
b0ilerboy ?
Should it not be a backcourt violation on the shot to go to OT? Diakete was the only person to tip the ball and it went behind halfcourt. Anybody know the exact ruling in this situation?
To have backcourt violation you have to have possession of the ball, and then cross half. Tipped rebound isn’t possession.
.. yea I think that sounds right
Why Edwards went for an ill advised off balance 3 down 1? BEcoz thats what he sees from Curry and Harden
Facts
What are you drinking?
That's a wide open look for him. He was raining them in with much less space than that for the entire game.
1:40 so after the missed free throw by Jerome, Virginia’s forward was the only person to touch the ball after the shot and tipped the ball into the back court which was then picked up by a Virginia player... last time i checked, that would be considered a back court violation and Virginia would’ve lost🤷♂️ refs really messed up there
DeAndre Hunter disappointed me this game. You suppose to be a lottery pick but on the bench with less than 2 minutes to play. I seen in his eyes something wont right. He didn't produce on either end of the floor
Derek B Got the go ahead bucket in ot tho
Yeah Hunter got the go ahead. But by the coach taking out your leading scorer with the game on the line says alot. He wasn't himself this game. I'm a Virginia fan and if they would've lost he wouldve been the missing x factor. He didn't perform with the light were bright
What game were you watching? Dre was amazing. He was guarding Edwards and was also in foul trouble, that’s why he was on the bench. Isn’t the ACC Defensive player by fluke. Edwards went off when Kihei (5’9”) was guarding him.
@@derekb7841 Nojel was on him most of regulation. He is the best defender in the nation imo.
@@zjohnson1632 I'm not too familiar with Nojel. Still no excuse tho. I like Hunter game. I think he could be a Kawhi Leonard type of player, he just left the weight on everybody else when he should've been a main contributor in the game. He was not! He came up clutch when it mattered tho
Lucky trash cans
Gucci-_- scoreboard
Caleb Lassiter I’m not a Purdue fan I’m saying they lucky they losing next round
LUCKY WINS.
they should’ve won 💀
Edwards deserved to win
Top 10 in the Draft is a Win?!?
So did UVA after what happened last year.
@@TheDigitalReviewer kinda, I guess, but they played so bad against UMBC. it was their own undoing
dang Purdue got robbed. that Hunter push off for the go ahead bucket should've been called
Purdue got a call at the end of the Tennessee game that should not have been called and it ended up determining the game, so I guess this evened it out.
@@utcnc7mm Exactly,3 bad calls in the last 4 seconds of regulation..One off Edward's foot on his drive down lay up..A 7 second count on the ensuing inbound call where the refs never even counted..It looked like his left foot was a couple of inches into the out of bounds line on the 3 point phantom foul..And if that was a foul on the 3 pointer with his leg kicking out with literally the severity of force of contact like that of mouse taps on a computer mouse, they would be 60 fouls in an average game and the average game would be over 3 hours long..
So I guess UVA haters have a new go to instead of the UMBC game. "The other team got robbed by the reffs" excuse. I like it. Keep in hating.
@Kaguyaa Yet nobody wants to talk about how Duke should have been out along time ago, but they get James Harden calls.
@@mikemarsh8189 Do you think (after seeing this game) if the Vols would have won against Virginia if they weren't so lethargic and had made most or all of their free throws against Purdue??
