Welcome home, Buju Banton, Jamaica love you.God and nature first make us what we are,and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we are , God is great, Jamaica Love
When I see this man, many prophets of old comes to mind. A lyrical genius with much time to contemplate the concepts of life & pree it from all angels. When he touches road again.. it narh guh pretty.

let me say this..if Buju had consciously decided to ride only dancehall riddim..nobody I say nobody cudda test he. His rugged voice and innate charisma on a grimey riddim woulda be untouchable. The fact that he turn conscious meant he view music more as a mission and not jus a means to make money.
You have to understand that reggae music finds its roots deep within the rastafarian religion. They don't condone homosexuality. Just like the muslims have their doctrines about women. You can't condemn the music. If you don't like oit then don't listen......that's the way I look at it.

Yeah but different strokes for different folks obviously. I grew up in the bahamas and I can tell you it's a cultural thing. Ever since i can remember listening to reggae 20+ years ago it was "fire pon fasy" and similiar lyrics in reggae. It's a part of the music. Bob Marley's music can't be compared to buju and most newer reggae just as the fatboys/humpty dumpty rap can't compare to 50 cent today. As times change the message also changes. reggae is hot as fire and i'm not gay so i dont care
By the way, the beginnings of reggae didn't have all that much to do with Rastafarianism. Indeed most of it these days comes from Rastas but the beginnings of reggae-- Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker-- didn't really have much to do with the marginal religion of Jamaica. Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals is a Christian. Bob Marley, the king of Reggae who was a Rastafarian until his conversion to Christianity, does not have any songs about killing homosexuals. So, there you go.
I'm well aware of the Rastafarian roots of reggae music, but I don't believe that condoning homosexuality means you have to sing about shooting them dead. And if Muslim contemporary music sang about killing women who do things that men don't like would you simply say don't listen? I HOPE not. And I'm too big a fan of reggae to "not listen." And if you say I can't condemn the music, then I condemn the message it sends: you don't have to like people, but you can't advocate killing them.
