Not enough good can be said of this 700cc engine. It's fun and has stood the test of time.
The T7 and the Transalps are simply but mountain goats, they are fun, purposeful and do just about anything and everything... Brilliant machines..
It's a bit disappointing they didn't fix that super low-slung exhaust which is going to get pushed into the swingarm when you invevitably end up dumping the bike when you're offroad. It sounds nice though, not gonna lie.
I've been loving mine here in Alaska for the last three years now.....great on road and it eats gravel roads and two tracks for lunch! The engine on these things is soooo sweet.....favorite part!! Cheers!
How is it at highway speeds? I have a drz400 but I want a 6th gear, more power and fuel injection. I want a bike that can eat highway miles too though. Maybe ride it to work or from one state to another. I’m just worried that 700cc is too small for long highway rides.
I had a Ténéré 700 for a year, and I love some aspects of the bike, such as the CP2 engine, which is a peach. But, I found it to be unbelievably top-heavy, and the high centre of gravity made the bike feel very heavy. It's also a very tall bike, with very soft suspension, and with that 21" front wheel, it's extremely easy to drop the bike. If you ever do drop one, it lays very flat to the ground, so turn the wheel, point it at the sky, and use the handlebars as a lever.
@@DomingoRogersNC I went back to my first love, a sports bike/naked with 17" wheels! I ended up getting a great deal from a local dealer on a brand-new pre-registered Suzuki SV650. It's such a cracking bike, and it puts a smile on my face every time I ride the thing. The only problem is I'm 6' 2", and it's a little bit cramped for me after a while. I was going to get a Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX tourer, but then Suzuki go and announce the GSX-S1000GX! It looks like the bike I've been looking for, and this time around I can get a demo, so I'm booked in for sometime in the new year, probably January, I can't wait! 😁
I do the same thing you did at 11:30, bars right then left foot down haha. It's a tall bike.
I *LOVE* mine. I'm 5'8" with a 31 inch inseam, and with 20mm lowering links in the rear and a lower seat concepts seat, it's damn near perfect. Renthal fatbars also improved my hold, I no longer get numb after 30 minutes LOL.
I haven't done any "serious" offroading yet, still at 550 ish miles, but you are right, this thing is born for it. With the lowered rear (20 minute job), it actually feels a little more stable on the street too, and I've got it leaned over to a 45 degree angle practicing low speed stuff (hard to get a knee down with this tall of a bike LOL). Crash bars (SRC moto) and rear pannier racks (Tusk) make it impervious to tip overs, and A LOT easier to pick up.
i had the same moto 6 months now and is the best bike i ever had !!
cheers from Greece !
That's because you're poor and can't afford a proper bike like KTM 790, 890, etc.
hehehe..today i spend 1400 euros for new full arrow exhaust and dna stage 2..its already to mechanic to install it and remaping that means 300 euros more..results would be uploaded to my channel soon..

Sweet vids greg keep rockin bro 🔥 👍👍
Interesting, everything you're describing this for makes me think of the Honda XR650L, but the Honda has less tech integrated.
I agree on the 250 comment at the end. I love my Honda CRF250L, but getting over 65 even on a flat is a challenge. I still ride it with knobbies all over the streets in my area, though.
I have a 2022. I Love it. I had to put a 17 tooth front sprocket for interstate use though.
What speed is comfortable on highway? My drz is terrible after about 55 mph
I hope you review the new bmw r12 cruiser as soon as it comes out, love your videos stay safe.
Lovely bike, there is a world raid version as well with dual fuel tank.
Pretty cool man it doesn’t look like a off road bike at first site
Such a brillant bike ! Ilove mine and i've never felt any issue with "top heaviness" and i"m not a giant at 5'10". solo or 2 up with luggage, road or trail , this bike will do the job and ad a smile on your face.
Ride it like a supermoto in the mountain twisties , the geometry ask for it and you won't have any issue keeping up with roadsters and superbikes ....quite the opposite and it's hilarious 😅😊
Please, Compare/contrast with Ktm 890 adv r and Kove 450!
Great review. Would Def like your take on the Tenere World Raid and World Rally.
It’s too tall for me, but I just love how this bike looks. The front half is like a wall of motorcycle!
I always stand on peg first and stand up over. I dont think i can karate kick high enough and clear bags lol.
“Big Bright Gash”
“With the 21” tire it’s an off road bike”
I’d say that it’s a ‘dual sport’ bike vs an adventure tourer like the GS. Along the same lines as an Africa Twin. Both can definitely handle the road too. They are just heavily off road biased. Like a 70/30 or 60/40
I had a tenere 700 and it is 450+ lbs and lays totally flat and is a bitch to pick up..
Hahaha yeah, I'm not sure anyone would consider a T7 light other than in relation to the full size "adventure" litre bikes.
If you get the opportunity could you review the honda transalp? Thx. Love ur vids.
Cool! I ride a Super Tenere, the 1200 version. Maybe you could try that too, its awesome!
Would you share your experience with the Super Tenere (ST)? I have considered this bike or the Tracer 9 g t. I am 6'02" 240 so I think the bigger ST would fit me better than the Tracer. I am in the midwest. So, I would never ride the "Twisties." I am looking for a commuter that is comfortable ride, fun, "powerful," protective from cold, rain, or other bad weather.
I wish Greg would ride the ST and give his opinion too on who the ST would be suited for. Thanks for any words you offer about how the ST could work as a bike for me. I considered a Harley but I don't want all the bulkyness and high expense. Thank you!!
@@EM-eg3qcIm 6'5 and love the ST. I did a few adjustments for "tall people" to fit on it better, everything else is stock. Im in the big city in midwest also and its awesome for that and whatever "twisties" I have around me I absolutely love it. I would buy another in a heartbeat, as a matter of fact, once this one gets too old I WILL buy another. It is a heavy ADV bike, but ultra reliable (compared to the GS or ktm) and cheap and easy to do your own maintenance. I would give it 9.5 out of 10. Also, its not very common and I love that about it, not many people have one :))
@alexm8307 Thank you very much for sharing your experience and personal endorsement. I definitely am considering this bike next year. I do want to test drive it first. I liked your reasoning for why you like the ST. It seems like I would be happy with one, too. Thank you!!
Well said. I love mine
Enduro rider here, don`t kid yourself the T7 is almost useless offroad in anything but easy gravel roads or twin track. I own a T7 and am super disappointed when the conditions get less than perfect offroad. I ride my 300 EXC or 500 EXC offroad and the T7 for the easy stuff.
As an Enduro rider I'd think you would prefer a lighter bike for crazy stuff. Pretty much everyone who has had a T-7 would disagree with you on the T-7's capability offroad. Then again, it COULD be rider error?
I have a KTM 300 and a KTM 500 for offroad. From the testing I`ve seen of T7`s their version of offroad is smooth gravel or easy twin track. The T7 in serious offroad is useless. Former MX and Enduro rider with 35+ years experience , no rider error.

Don't worry about the 21 inch front wheel. It handles the road just fine.
the point is not as well as standard 17's or even 19's...they won't handle as well
im 5'9 an i just got my tenere this weekend, its so much different then my ninja 650 (i can flat foot the fuck outa that bike) one thing i noticed is the down shifts are SUPER clunky...i have to like stomp the downshift. Also the fuel tank cap is super cheap feeling.
That dash button only turns ABS ON. To turn ABS off requires multiple button pushes in the menu system. ABS resets to ON when the key switch or kill switch are used. There is no shortcut to get back to last used ABS setting. I would strongly consider the T7 for a middle weight bare bones touring bike. A very appealing niche. Many are reporting extremely high mileage with no electrical or mechanical issues in the first gen bikes. Great engineering Yamaha. This is never emphasized enough when talking about bikes for remote places. Bikes that don't have mechanical or electrical problems. Highest possible performance is sexy until the bike is a few years old, out putting down thousands of miles, on your own, without a support truck and film crew. Then ultimate reliability, low and easy maintenance rule. You are greatly overstating what an average+ good rider can do in the dirt with a 450# bike. The bike can do a lot with a top rider. But it is really really not a bike for average riders to take on technical trails. Dirt roads, yes. That 21 inch wheel and extra suspension will be great for people who tour long distances and have to use graded but unpaved roads. Like say the pan american highway to Alaska or some of the black country discovery routes. It makes a huge difference on washboard, pot holes, and soft spots.
Have you ever ridden a Super Tenere? Would like to hear your thoughts
Did they fix the rear frame issue? I’d literally buy this thing if the exhaust bracket wasn’t attached to the MAIN FRAME of the bike that comes with no rear sub frame.
You can go with an aftermarket exhaust that solves the issue I got mine a few months back and the bike looks and sounds even better now 😁
Reviews say Aprilia Tuareg is better ADV than T7, any chance you will review one?
Tuono 660 is interesting too.
Better, is some people’s opinion, but the t7 beats it on reliable and is a better bike when going slow off road. Plus it looks much better 😜 and I really like Aprilia.
The trouble with the euros is that you gotta buy 2 bikes, one to ride while the other one is in the shop!
You need to crash the BMW track party and pretend you didn't know you weren't allowed 🤣
You just got nurse it along for touring better fuel economy take in the views what’s the hurry speed kills stay safe mate jimmy Australia
It's definitely a cool bike
Big dirt bike
I have a 2023 T7 and a 2023 GSXR 750. I think I have the best of both worlds.
Understand that you had it for only twenty minutes but it’s an Adventure bike. People that purchase them like to know more about its off road capabilities. To say it’s a Beast without using it for what it was designed for leaves the review somewhat empty.
Does the Del amo down there typically do test rides? I went to the one in OC, but they basically laughed at me when I asked to take it out before buying one.
@@MotoJitsu ahh gotchya! It’s a bit tough to pull the trigger when spending $10,000+ on a bike you’ve never ridden!
I had an idea the other day and though you might be a great person for this. Because of your extensive knowledge, you could offer a service to your followers by sending out a 360 camera or having them submit their own footage for reviewing and breaking down the good things they are doing as well as things they should fix to become a better rider on the streets.
Kinda an out there idea, but I’m sure some people would love it, plus it could be good learning content for your audience.
Lol. If The dealership in my country says no to test riding, they wouldn’t sell a single bike😂 I just bought a T7 and took a 35min test ride before I decided to buy one. It’s my fourth bike and i test rode them all.

For light off road it will be ok .... but for real off road this bike is too top heavy .... in this class there is not any bike made yet to compete with Ktm 890 adventure R!
i'd prefer KTM but this is nice as well
The chinese are coming! They have raised the bar, with what they have on offer, and the Japanese need to take note.
Yeah, if they took off 40 kilos off it.
Weight up high and bad exhaust design. They should have revised the exhaust.
