Clara was such a dear, interesting lady. She made “ depression cooking “ look so easy. The “ arm wrestling “ with Grand son is so “ dear”. The snake stories are so interesting. She was definitely a courageous lady to kill snakes ‼️. She used whatever method that was called for to kill them ‼️. I am so grateful that I have had the privilege of watching her “ Depression videos “. I always loved spending quality time with my Grandmother, so it was great to see “ Miss Clara”!
I cried when she played the records. I feel like she shares so many special moments with us in these videos. And I feel so honored to be a part of that even if it is years after her passing. Thank you for keeping this channel up for people to discover and learn from for years to come.
ya same here she said she didn't play those records since her husband died, yet she played them for us. I cried watching her expressions show how she felt.
Her first expression seemed such a tender and private moment of remembrance and feeling caught on camera. What a lovely lady to share that with us. You were an amazing lady Miss Clara.

I replayed that moment quite a few times looking at her sadness. I can relate because my parents were married 60 years and died within two months of each other because they were each other's best friend
There is no way of knowing what the quality of that marriage was - Clara reveals no emotions about her late husband whatsoever, in any of these videos. It's funny how people want to project great love and heartbreak onto her, imagining there's was a wonderful lifelong romance. But for all we know - and for all she showed us - he could have been a compulsive gambler/womaniser or alcoholic, who made her life sheer hell! His death could even have been a release for her - it often is, especially for older generations for whom divorce was not an option. It is extraordinary that her only child died on the very same day as her husband. I think it is bizarre that there is absolutely no mention of that double tragedy in the family. She is being interviewed by her grandson after all, the most sympathetic of all interviewers. This UA-cam channel is Clara's legacy for her family, so it's disappointing he only scratched the surface of what she and her life were. There's very little depth or emotion shared with viewers in any of these videos, it's just austerity recipes and small talk. Clara's pointed stories usually have another woman as the butt of the joke - she didn't seem to like females too much! When she reminisces about family, she is usually referring to her parents and siblings, rather than the family she created ie her husband and their son. Presumably she cooked the most when she became a wife and mother, so that's surprising. It's hard to know what to make of Clara, she gives very little away and that frustrates me. But it is the omissions that can reveal the most about a person.

Rose Jackson i read your text an want to tell you a story about my mother an what i did to keep hearing her stories after she was long gone . the most wonderful thing i hav ever done here goes. When i was comi n g up mother use to tell me stories of her growing years. An i never tired from them. In 1997 day before mothers day i ask her what she wanted for mothers day cause she wanted fir nothing an she said a bi b le book cover so i head out to the book store they were out so i was goi n g to ask the cashier if they had anymore when i noticed a beautuful book adorned with pale pink flowers. The title was. Reflections frim a mothers heart. Flipping through the pages they had one question on each page that ask about mothers l childhood an life. U liked it an thought mother could write down her memories for me. I gave it to her next day an she loved it!. In 2012 i ask her about the book an she said its on the shelf you want it an i saud no ill get it some other time. 2 months later mother was killed in a car wreck she was driving at 84. As my sisters an brother gathered i told my sister about the book an we found it an ti my surprise it was totally filled out. So if you would like to hear the rest of the story ab theres more an oh so grand ending contact me on fb Rhonda Gibson Roberts
I was a CNA at a nursing home. I enjoyed it so much. A lot of my patients that had to come there to be taken care of was just dropped off and never was visited again. I loved hearing their stories. What kinds of work they had to do just to survive! All of the patients there just wanted someone to talk to. I actually found it more interesting to talk to them rather than the young people. My grandfather lived through the depression and WWll. So many fascinating stories. He always told me to respect the elders and listen to what they had to say because I would learn a lot. And he was right. I believe I was born an old soul! I miss both sets of my grandparents! They taught me a lot. This generation wouldn't be able to work like the people of the depression! When I get her age I hope someone will listen to me! I just turned 50 on June 22. So I got a long way to go! Thank you Ms Clara for your stories and cooking lessons!❤️🧡
I can totally relate to every word you say... I too have spent many hours talking with people in their 90's (when it was still 1983) and it was so amazing to hear all their stories... they conciously saw everything evolve what now is considered normal... from the bicycles on upward... Spent many hours later in life, talking to elderly people... and they are such treasure troves of interesting stories, REAL feelings.. real manners... real people... as opposed to what appears to be normal these days. Still hoping to get the same kind of wonderful stories from my parents (85) as Ms Clara so colourfully tells us..
In the Netflix series Stezo there’s a character who video tapes a lot of the residence Inn in assisted living facility and then sells them afterwards to anyone who wants them sounds like maybe you might enjoy doing something like that
Just discovered Clara's Kitchen long after she passed away. This video was so moving and I could feel her sadness looking a the picture from her husband who passed earlier. But I have a saying about loved people who passed: As long as people think and speak about you, you're not realy dead. You're dead when you are forgotten. Dear Clara you will never be forgotten!
She is up in the sky with her hubby and parents cooking up a feast, chatting, listening to records, while wearing a beautiful red outfit! With that million dollar smile grinning from ear to ear. I came across her videos today and have watched all of them. I have smiled all day. What a gem she is! She has touched my heart! What an angel she must have been! My best friend passed away last year at the age of 40 and she would have loved Nana! I whispered a little prayer to my Aly and hope they cross paths in the beautiful pearly gates! RIP nana!
"Cut him in half and left him wiggling." Lol. I love watching all of your grandmother's videos. I was very sad to hear that she passed away. She was a beautiful jewel. 👑
Ohhhh I love this hahahaha just what I was about to comment, that's why I'm laughing, I'm not the only one who thought about that! 🤣🤣🤣, gotta love her!
I don't know how I've never seen this video. I've watched almost all of Claire's videos so many times. Some days I'm a little down or I'm sad but watching her videos just makes me feel better. We live in such a crazy world and it gives me a little comfort to know that someone had it way harder than me and looks back at life with so much joy. I know she's gone now but she definitely lives in my heart. God bless you Clara!
“Once I stabbed one with a knife... hahaha.” Dang she’s brutal 😂😂😂 When the music was playing you could see all the memories coming back to her, that was so neat to see!

When we lose someone to the big dispatch, one of the things that fades is the sound of their voice. The tone, how it rises with laughter or softens when relaxed. I wish I had your talent of filming and editing. It must feel amazing to hear and see your grandmother once again. Love your videos!!! Thank you for sharing.
When my grandmother on my mother's side passed away most of her furniture was in good shape, but put into storage (my parents had moved into an apartment and sold their house to my brother). Eventually, my dad got tired of paying storage and gave everything to Good Will (my mother was pissed). Today it would be worth a lot of money, but probably not as much as the 30-years storage. The best furniture I have today was my mom and dad's. Sofa's don't last, but old solid-wood chest-of drawers, dining tables, and such last for many decades. It is sad that solid wood furniture is disappearing, to be replaced by laminated plywood.
possessions arent needed when we die.. dust to dust.. nothing to remain. just love and thoughts. things arent needed.. its use less..a house is meant to be lived in.. thats it
I just stumbled on to Clara's video.I watched them all back to back. What a sweet and charming lady. I love older folks , We can learn so much from them.
I love this so much! Plus I feel kinda shameful... I'm 29 and don't keep my house as spotless as Clara's home. At her age everything is so well kept. RIP Clara. I love you
It's a wonder that her grandson documented her and saw the joy in her life to share with others. Not too many young people are that in tune with their elders now. It's so wonderful to see.
I often wondered about this lady...I stumbled on her channel and really enjoyed the recipes. WOW......I'm sad. May she continue to R.I.P. and people constantly enjoy Great Depression Cooking!!
I have been enjoying your grandmother’s videos. You have done a beautiful job portraying her wit and personality. I am 67 and I grew up enjoying my mother and grandmothers’ frugal ways of stretching the food budget. I was thrilled to learn in this video that Clara and I had much in common despite our age difference. I have a huge doll collection. My grandsons are creeped out because they have to sleep in my doll room when they visit. I love to crochet and read, have read alot of Danielle Steel’s books. I have also killed two unlucky snakes that chose to slither into my house. I beat the poor snakes with my cane and broke two flower pots over them. I tried to trap one of them to no avail under my stainless steel MixMaster bowl. I even tried to chop it in half. It doesn’t kill them, my son told me, after the fact; that you have to cut the head off. I called my husband at work and demanded he come home to get rid of the wriggly almost cut in two snake and I stood on the over turned bowl with the snake trapped in it til he came home. I thank you for these wonderful videos you have filmed of your precious grandmother. It brings back so many fond memories of my grandmothers, one American and one Czechoslovakian, teaching me to cook, sew and crochet.
There’s only 1 “Clara”. I’m not sure HOW I was “Blessed” to come across her channel... but that’s it! I was “Blessed”. Her stories.... cooking.... Just got my Italian Stove Top Coffee Pot ( which I named Clara ... after all... she taught us how to brew coffee in it ) Just so enjoyable! God Bless Her!
What a lady!!! She reminds me soooooo much of my deceased beautiful grandmother. (They could have been twins!!!). They talked the same, they looked the same, & they cooked the same!!! RIP, Grandma Clara!!! You were a grandma to MANY!!! 💔💔💔. (& RIP to your twin in New Orleans, La. Grandma Gertie Adams Lefort). Thank you to Clara’s family, for sharing “Nonna” Clara’s videos!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Awwweeee thank you for sharing your grandmother. She was lovely. People need to appreciate the elderly. They have so much to share with us and teach us. 😊
Women like her inspire me so much of how there still so independent, I worked for elderly woman and the houses were spotless, and to hear there stories we're amazing. 🙏
Clara was born the same year as my grandmother, and watching these videos warms my heart in the most beautiful way. She reminds me of my own sweet Grandmommy (passed 2009), and I absolutely love it.
I am so glad I spent time with my grandma and heard her stories of the old days. she taught me to cook the old fashioned PA Dutch way, and how to sew. some days I still wish I was eight years old on a sleepover at her house. for some reason the bedsheets on her guest bed were so cool and crisp and smelled like sunshine. much love to Clara for helping bring back such happy memories. RIP dear Clara.
What a sweet and beautiful treasure. How sad she is no longer with us. May God forever bless this sweet soul. Can't wait to see you on heaven's streets.
I love elderly people just being able to sit with elderly people and hear their stories and what they have been through/done throughout their lifetime and taking advice is amazing.
I was hoping someone else had also caught that😂🤣🤣, did you notice how he swiftly moved to another shot😂 it caught him as a surprise i'm guessing there was a load of laughter..."really grandma...really, infront of the world"....😂😂 🥲 RIP nana❤️
She reminds me of my great grandma Alice, I'd spend weekends with her and she would tell me all sorts of stories about back then...I miss those nights, She was my best friend and I will never forget her...RIP Abuela Alice and RIP beautiful Clara.
Oh my goodness....Having just started watching her videos....I've been amazed at how clean her house was and that she LOVED RED....lol like me..and now to SEE her home..I HAVE the SAME ...feathered bird picture.....OH my .......!!! Have same Italian record from my dad...too ....HONEST....it was 'his' favorite about love.... Just gave my mom's glass and wood washboard to my son !!!! THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH...... :)
The experiences of people who lived through the Great Depression are absolutely priceless. Thank you for creating and making this channel available so people can learn from the past.
It felt like visiting with my Aunt, from years ago. I loved the pictures. When she looked at her husband's picture, you could tell she was about to cry. They are together in heaven now.
Hearing the voice of her love must hit her right on the heart. I cried when she played his record and her little lip quivered a bit. OMG I wish I knew her and could hug her and come over to sit and have coffee and cookies together.
God bless her. Can tell she was a nice Catholic. Loved seeing her place. So much like my family. Loved seeing the photo of the procession. Loved the story about punching the Pope!!! And the arm wrestling was hilarious!!!! Feel sorry for the snakes, though.
Clara reminds me of Mrs. Hebert the neighbor who cared for me as a child. Mrs. Hebert showed me how to can vegetables, hand wash laundry (she never let me feed the ringer, only catch), we made pies from scratch, grew flowers and pulled weeds from the garden. No matter what we were doing it was always fun because Mrs Hebert had the same sweet sensible demeanor as Clara. ❤❤
She is so sweet. She's seems like everyone's grandma. Thank you for sharing. I think I've watched every one her videos and love them all . I collect dolls also❤️. She makes my heart smile.

you have a UA-cam.. there's hundreds of millions of people on here maybe a billion. make us your audience like Clara did.
I’m with you, there, Rosemary, and I lived in Seattle, too. Hugs to you from the northeast U.S.
You both got that right!!!👍👋😉🤗, ladies being a nurse of over 30+ yrs...
Me too. But I was an activity director and yes I too used to love this stories
In the Netflix series Stezo there’s a character who video tapes a lot of the residence Inn in assisted living facility and then sells them afterwards to anyone who wants them sounds like maybe you might enjoy doing something like that
Yes yes CNA’s do what nurses used to do back in the old days they do everything
RIP nana!
This is a beautiful way of putting it. She makes me miss my grandma who passed away a year ago.
What a sweetheart. Would love to have met her.
"Cut him in half and left him wiggling." Lol. I love watching all of your grandmother's videos. I was very sad to hear that she passed away. She was a beautiful jewel. 👑
A 'beautiful jewel' who meted out cruel deaths to God's harmless creatures. Sorry but I and many others would call that ugly.
@@glamdolly30 idk what the hell u just said but it sounded disrespectful and maybe u should think about ur own actions.
Lol oh wait r u a vegan? Of course. You never had to survive like she and her family had to and it shows.
@@glamdolly30 get the f over it. Takes a weird one like u to miss the whole point when the lady said she is disgusted by snakes. I would do the same.

Lol so funny I was laughing so much
Ohhhh I love this hahahaha just what I was about to comment, that's why I'm laughing, I'm not the only one who thought about that! 🤣🤣🤣, gotta love her!
Please keep her alive....through this channel. It matters❤
I agree with you!
I had never seen this one either...
Same. It just popped up today😊Clara is a gem.
“Once I stabbed one with a knife... hahaha.” Dang she’s brutal 😂😂😂
When the music was playing you could see all the memories coming back to her, that was so neat to see!
Love the "punched the Pope in the face" story. That's hilarious!
Savvy she did say that oh my goodness
Aquablue 125 yes , punched the pope right in the face. Lol.
Surely the pope has good security. How did this happen?
I know that was funny. 😆
@Kay Cee way to ruin something nice. Dear lord, I hate people like you
Such a beautiful soul.... I wish I could have been able to meet her...
Kara. You will. Nice thought.
KaraTheSmall * There are many beautiful souls like Clara. You just have to really be aware of those that come into your presence and the package that their in🕊
Thank you Beautiful Clara your recipes and wisdom will come in handy with how the world is changing ❤💜💙💚💛 you have reminded me of the days i was a child growing up in very hard times. i"m 61 now and feel blessed ❤Please keep this channel going we all need Claras videos in our life 🌹🥰🦋
When we lose someone to the big dispatch, one of the things that fades is the sound of their voice. The tone, how it rises with laughter or softens when relaxed. I wish I had your talent of filming and editing. It must feel amazing to hear and see your grandmother once again. Love your videos!!! Thank you for sharing.
I hope her family keeps her house intact, such a beautiful person, such a blessing!
She has beautiful family. I'm happy for her.
possessions arent needed when we die.. dust to dust.. nothing to remain. just love and thoughts. things arent needed.. its use less..a house is meant to be lived in.. thats it

@@phillipmoore9012 That make me sad a lot .:(
I'm sure this is cherished footage now that she is gone. She was a blessing
I just stumbled on to Clara's video.I watched them all back to back. What a sweet and charming lady.
I love older folks , We can learn so much from them.
This is so true! My name is Clara also and it always makes my heart melt when I meet another Clara.
So pure this woman is, her outlook on life could teach so many people so many things in this day and age
She’s so freaking wholesome I can’t-
A beautiful Italian woman. My mom was Italian as well.
I love this so much! Plus I feel kinda shameful... I'm 29 and don't keep my house as spotless as Clara's home. At her age everything is so well kept. RIP Clara. I love you
me too
Well it’s easy to keep a house spotless when it’s just you left...

I wish this video would never end.. I love this precious lady Clara ❤️
Me too!
Yeah me too. All good things come to a end. I love Clara
It's a wonder that her grandson documented her and saw the joy in her life to share with others. Not too many young people are that in tune with their elders now. It's so wonderful to see.
I watch this every Xmas and think of Clara. I’m sure heaven is all she wanted it to be.
How is it possible that a complete stranger like me feel so much affection and respect for Clara? She is amazing.
Grandma has an arm of a warrior because that's who she was her whole life! Rest in peace Clara!!
I can't imagine all the memories she had when that record was playing!
I watch all of her shows over and over.
She makes my heart warm.😇💜
I'm 27 and I still love baby dolls .and this lady rocks.
It's too bad I didn't find her channel sooner. she was a wonderful person I'm glad her channel was made.
She and her husband along with the family are beautiful

I got her cook book when I was 11 (2011) and she seemed like a wonderful women and I always wanted to meet her. Rip Clara C.
Eyes got teary on that record, you could see the love and memories she shared. It brought him back for just a moment❤
I going to call my granny! Even though I just talked to her yesterday. I just appreciate her coolness even more after watching Mrs. Clara.
I keep stopping by to watch her. This must be such a gift for the family and strangers like me that fell in love with her. 🙏😇
Women like her inspire me so much of how there still so independent, I worked for elderly woman and the houses were spotless, and to hear there stories we're amazing. 🙏
what a truly moving video..oh I did cry when I saw her missing her husband, and listening to the records they use to share together, bittersweet
She played that record and started reminiscing of her husband 😢. Thanks for sharing this wonderful heart with us .
Listening to her husband sing, was sweet.
What a great lady.
CarMoves you sure that was her husband? 😒 those were his records. he was the singer? i’m not too sure about that.
He was in a choir who travelled around so it could be

She's everyone's Nana. That's why we still watch her years after. She was delightful.
What a wonderful woman. I wish that I knew her. R.I.P. lil lady!!
Oh how I wanted to cry awww rip Clara you and your husband are together in a better place now ❤️❤️❤️
Clara should have kept her dolls in her bedroom and told those who did not like it not to go into her bedroom.
She wanted to please her family so they'd be comfortable
you're such a sweet lady! Don't worry about the haters they are just jealous!
I don't think she has any haters
Shes dead...
She’s not worried, she’s sleeping.
Lia Callan you have to be the creator of a video to do that.
I have not seen any haters on this site. She is so sweet and kind that I don't think they could find any thing to criticize.
I love elderly people just being able to sit with elderly people and hear their stories and what they have been through/done throughout their lifetime and taking advice is amazing.
Clara: “I’ll give it to my first great-grand daughter” *Looks at camera man* ...IF WE EVER HAVE ONE
I was hoping someone else had also caught that😂🤣🤣, did you notice how he swiftly moved to another shot😂 it caught him as a surprise i'm guessing there was a load of laughter..."really grandma...really, infront of the world"....😂😂

Just wondering if she ever got her great granddaughter ❤

The experiences of people who lived through the Great Depression are absolutely priceless. Thank you for creating and making this channel available so people can learn from the past.
It felt like visiting with my Aunt, from years ago. I loved the pictures. When she looked at her husband's picture, you could tell she was about to cry. They are together in heaven now.
Thank you for this. Missing my 94 year old grandma today. This was a good substitute. I wish I would have filmed her like you did.
Italian grandmothers are the BEST.
I had one and she was amazing. She was a good cook like Clara and very sweet like Clara.
I had Swedish grandmothers. One was generous and loved us a lot.
Grandmothers are the best, my grandmother, on my moms' side was Italian and my dad's was this Tennessee gal, love and missed them both
Mexican grandmas too. 🥰
I could listen to her all day❤️🙏
Hearing the voice of her love must hit her right on the heart. I cried when she played his record and her little lip quivered a bit. OMG I wish I knew her and could hug her and come over to sit and have coffee and cookies together.
Rest in Peace beautiful and precious Clara. You are loved and will not be forgotten.
I love her so much..I just lost my husband so I can understand what she is thinking,.She comforts me.
I just found your channel, what a wonderful beautiful grandmother you had. but you and your family have these wonderful memories of her.
I love this lady she’s so honest and hilarious 😆 ❤
We need more people today like Clara.
Priceless, wow, she was so special! You could see how deeply she loved her husband, and how very much her family ment to her.❤🌹😭
She is so sweet. She's seems like everyone's grandma. Thank you for sharing. I think I've watched every one her videos and love them all . I collect dolls also❤️. She makes my heart smile.
It-s crazy how you can feel very close and sad to someone you-ve never known. She was a light. I can-t wait to see my grandma again.
I miss you Clara.I am glad I have your DVD and cook book. I lost my police officer husband after 38 years.I miss him too.
“I took a pitcher of hot water and I threw it on him. Then I mashed his head.” Ahaha, I love her. Rip Clara 💕 such a sweet soul.
